Don't tighten them this much. They just need to be snug, our of the box they are Teflon coated. Like the tape, over tightening destroys the purpose of the Teflon. Besides that awesome video, wasn't sure about something and the clarity of your video helped me resolve it.
If i remember right the angle i had on my wrench was making it feel like it wasn't tightening correctly. That's why i did that. But i have no leaks on it at all
Suppose this is what my '97 F-150 needs. I was driving home yesterday and the temp gauge all at once pegged to the hot side. Pulled over shut if off and didn't see any signs of overheating. Fired it back up and the temp gauge showed normal. A little while later the gauge pegged again, so pulled over shut if off checked it out and couldn't see anything wrong. Fired it up once again and temp gauge showed normal so drove it home without incident. Thanks for the vid!
Nice video believe it or not a coolant sensor a bad coolant sensor can cause a high idle also only one thing that bothered me a little bit about the video was that you were a little lazy to takeoff the cover of the throttlebody it would have given you more room to work with
Can anyone help me out please?..I'm trying to figure out what would cause the temperature gauge to shoot to hot and stay there even on a cold start? 97 f150 4.6
Did you change out the sensor; if so you got the wrong sensor. There are two sensors they look the same but one goes over by the oil cap and the other goes under the front of the intake
kanye west I changed mine because I thought it was faulty and causing my temp gauge to read wrong. It turns out that I have a faulty wire or something else in the pickup and haven't had time to look for the actual issue. I have a tuner for the pickup now and it has my coolant temp on there.
kanye west if you get a odb scanner some of them can show live data and see if what the temperature is actually doing. Sounds like a sensor or short in a wire to me

Mines does the same thing was it the coolant temperature sensor?
Thank you so much, I did it no problem!
I was hoping he just came back from the part store then changed it 😂
Hermano cuál es el código de esa válvula de temperatura

Yea if I remember right I was short on time so I just didn't take that off
It was a good vid for me since I haven't known krap since the '60s.
High idle is my issue now thanks for mentioning
Would it cause ideling down and almost die
Thank
Do you know if is the same location for a ford f-150 2000?
I think it's the same engine 4.6
Yes is the same 1997 to 2003
What happens if you didn’t drain the radiator and when changing the sensor no coolant leaked out?
It just means your vehicle was cooled down and nothing bad
Can anyone help me out please?..I'm trying to figure out what would cause the temperature gauge to shoot to hot and stay there even on a cold start?
97 f150 4.6
Disconnect the wire to the senser and if it stays the same place Disconnect the battery while its running and see if it resets

@@mikemckittrick6861 thanks ive changed out the sensors turned out it was my instrument cluster.. but now im having trouble with a code p1299
Same, mine either goes straight to hot as soon as you turn the engine over or it stays on cold the whole time
@@turnupdot2108 so what did you do how did you fix it?
Why did you change it?

L.G. Auto I was wondering because my temp shoot straight up too half on a cold start
kanye west did it only do it once? And did it go up and down while driving?
L.G. Auto all the time now and it just stay there

i changed mine and it's leaking coolant now?
Put thread sealant on it.
Still leaking ?
@@thefaith6891 yes I tried sealant and tape and no luck
