Cool man! The brakes aren't bad for the money in our opinion. Hopefully we still like them and the still perform well after a couple of months use. Thanks
I run the Meroca 2 piston brake - think they are called M800 - with Clark single piece rotors (180 f, 160 r). The Meroca brakes came pre assembled but were definitely better after fresh oil and a good bleed. I'd be interested to see a back to back with them to see how they stack up with the 4 piston calipers to see if it's a worthwhile upgrade to swap the 2 pot for 4 pot. .
That sounds very interesting man, you know it's funny I believe next video will be a pad swap and a bleed! Hope otngoes well, I hope for a night and day difference.

I don't know if I approve of that spacer job on the brakes. But hey man, you made it work so you're a problem solver. Another great video guys. Have a great weekend #wolfticknation.

Please review budget full sus carbon frame from aliexpress of LEXON, BXT and TRIFOX brand. Appreciate if you could make it happen. Sending you Love from Borneo island!!
I bought these Meroca 4 Pistons to replace Shimano MT - 201 2 Pots... they are 4 Pistons.. are fiddly to set up and get all 4 Pistons to work evenly.. BUT they work.. here in Cape Town we have 30'C or higher and dusty rocky trails with brutal bike breakers.. and these things have stopped me and save my ass.. I can say my MT - 201 were fine.. but these cheapies do the trick.. I took them apart to clean and they have stainless steel pistons too.. very good for cheap upgrade for everyday users that don't have Magura or Sram Or shimano Xtr money.
Not bad at all. For the money that might be one of the best values at least on the short term. We will do a long term review at some point and see how it goes. Thanks man
The link is hard to post. It seems that UA-cam blocks my post when I put in a link. I've tried 3 times. Frustrating! It has also blocked my 4try try. Just search for Clark's m4 brake I guess. Clark uses the vx851 model number for the m4 pads.
They use floating rotors on sport bikes (motorcycles). Benefit is that the braking is still consistent with slightly bent rotors. For the rear, they make different adapters for larger rotors than the front adapters, so you have to check for that. I have Jerry rigged the brakes with spacers and that works fine too, but I wouldn't go too extreme with it.
Man thank you MR. BAIN! That is great man, we got a great community and we are glad you are here and would support man. It may be a serious venture:) Thanks for the Comment and need to figure out were we will install the bars!!
That bike is coming on really nice.I just put crush core 29er pros in my 2021 trek slash 7. It took some of the vibration out of the bike & now I run 18psi in back & 17psi in front & got better grip.
Wow that is impressive man, would love to try some! I ran about 30psi today on the GT (now tubeless) and it was way to high for the terrain, feels a little weird to go so low? Are you hitting rim at all even though you are running crush core??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I'm not hitting @ all & I've hit some big rocks. Before I put my cush cores in not crush cores sorry. I ran 20psi in front & 24pis in rear.
That is interesting, I believe someone is sending some?? Possibly but ether way I would love to try them out, here in Arkansas the trails are so gnarled with pointy big rocks!!
Great video 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾 awesome way to start the weekend everyone looked fantastic in their wolftick video shirts 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Can't wait for the next one and have a great weekend #Wolfticknation
You were moving good. People upgrade to 4 pistons for added modulation and power. Maybe the feeling you are experiencing is just having a more linear increase in power. But 2 finger levers on a 4 piston setup is a head scratcher. What is the point of 4 piston brakes if you need two fingers to use them? That just takes more fingers off your grips and you get less control, more arm pump etc.
Glad to hear the chain guide works so well. Now I’ll have to install my mine since you have tried it and it works. I wonder if they have different size bash protectors (accessory) to allow for more clearance on the bottom
Just got these brakes and they seem to work nicely but the front brake came a bit spungey and the back was fine, after a bleed the front brake seemed to be a lot better
11:00 the saddle might bend if it's that far back. Also the bend of the rails at the front might get damaged too. The saddle should never be out of the lines, not all saddles have it, but limit usually is 1cm/10mm away from the bend on each side. But still if you Slam but into the saddle or just are heavy you might bend the rails anyway.
'I prefer two finger action'. That's what she said 😁 that one piece bar-stem combo looks great, but it's pure xc setup. I wonder will you like it. As much as I like riding xc bikes, not sure would I feel comfortable and safe with down angle of stem. As for brake setups, Brits use wrong left-right position of brake levers. Continental Europe and most of the world have front brake left, back brake right.
LOL!! HA HA TOTALLY!! Dont know if I will like the bar man, it is pretty low? But who knows, And the BRITS are all crazy as HELL!! LOL So glad you and I use the proper brakes!! Later Mario:) Thank you for tuning in man
all new brakes and or rotors start mushy in the beginning it's because they use a type of silicon to keep them from oxidizing while in storage, they make thousands at a time, best idea is to wipe the rotors down with 91% alcohol before first use
the whole point of the "rivets" on the floating rotors is that the rotor can move independently of central hub. Being fixed is not good. maybe with time they will loosen up a bit.
Awesome video guys! I should send you a picture from before the pandemic, I bet it will be more in line with what you pictured. Your assessment of me had my girlfriend in tears. Great video and excited to get mine installed. You guys should do a brake comparison video like you did with forks. I bought a trifox carbon fiber full suspension frame. Working on that now.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS the carbon frame is a challenge I would like to see you guys take on. A little more of a challenge with pressed bottom bracket and you can't really brute force and ignorance parts on the frame.
I’ve been running my rear brake like that for over a year with no problems. Not saying there won’t be eventually but rear brakes don’t have as much stress as the front
😂😂😂😂 Guys, let's get something straight from the start... I really don't drink that much! I just enjoy a beer on the occasions I have one 😂😂😂 Fantastic to see some of the Wolftick Nation and get to put some faces to names, great little segment! I would absolutely support a patreon, it's not just about mountain biking for me, it's the whole entertainment value and would love to see more of what my friends in the US are up to. Brakes did a great job, I must admit, I'm impressed. And the chain stayed on, Awesome! Really interested to see what you make of the trifox bars, I've been considering a frame up build on a Chinese brand frame and trifox is one on my list... Although it may be a little expensive. Really great video as always gents. Take care and much love from the uk 🍺🍺😎👍
HA HA Cmon now DAN!!! Be honest brother....we wont judge!! LOL Now the bike was a great ride down the mountain and so happy it stayed together!! 1) NO FLAT!!!! 2) Great video ... giving me an good option over the avids i have on my Moto!!! Phase 1 Build on KHS almost complete and that build helped build up the Moto (which is going to turn into my street machine)... if you do patreon (spelling) you ll have some black aqua support!
Glad the big brakes turned out so well! Thought you were gonna smack that tree for a quick second.. haha. Those carbon bars look pretty sweet too. They look super wide tho
Please try to do a long term review on those I like what you said about these and I'm in the market for 4 piston brakes.... The levers are wierd and stick out far i have short fingers so i always set my brake levers to only be pulled by 1 finger so i set them over to where its natural to grab the tip of the lever with my index finger i love having 4 fingers at all times on my grips so i wonder if they could be adjusted to come in a little closer... I bet those brakes wear in in 2-3 more rides when a good chunk of that brake pad marries to the rotor it didn't seem like the calipers has heat spreaders wonder how far you could go before they get to the point they wouldn't work well.... Thank God no crashes but i did catch you almost go off that trail and almost go down what looks like a cliff stay safe cya Tuesday
Love your reviews man ! Awesome ! What type of olive and barb did you use on theM4 brakes to swap the levers from left to right ? Do you need a brand specific barb and olive, or can you use Tektro or Shimano parts ?
Very good review but I would worry about the longevity of the washers you're using. There's gonna be so much stress on the caliper bolts without the cross brace. Be careful 🤞😁
Hey brother thanks for the question and comment. Unfortunately I have never had those Srams...But I can tell you, these 4 pistons are similar to a beefier version of Shimano MT200S, which are 2 piston and cone stock on most entry level bike shop bikes. So if yours are similar to the sound of the Shimano, possibly??? They are pretty nice.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS finding the brakes in question. The place which I bought the original brakes from - which is in Canada- no longer *has* them…. There are places in Europe that has them, or similar, but the shipping is *evil.* Note that the brakes in question have switches built in, rather than a kludgy makeshift that I’m certain to mess up…
I have a freak bike double left brakes would these still fit then trying to upgrade from the stock tekro hydraulic disc brakes that were on the bike couse they really have a on and off feeling and i would like some more controls on the downhills since i ride with 46kg of luggage on the bike sometimes
DOUBLE LEFT BRAKE!!?? LOL HUH? These should fit right up, as long as you have 160mm Rotors, then you should be fine:) Thanks man and remember, there are affiliate links BELOW!! :)

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS I am not sure what you meant. yes TRP are Tekro, Tektro Racing Products, but Tektro brand is only budget stuff. TRP is racing brand. ''we have do it BAD!!'' no clue what you mean. do you mean you need to try them?
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS ok, now I get it. thx. it would not surprise me if the higher end TRP would too. but not tried it. might take a look if some local has it. but some brakes don't have it. I've been told TrickStuff does not have pad play. but those brakes have 9 months wait. and cost a fortune. they are made in Germany. they are the most expensive brakes on the market. TrickStuff Picolla are the lightest xc brakes on the market. not tried them nor seen any in real life.
@The Bike Chick Aww crap! I think we are going to be gone next weekend. Maybe next time. Let us know for sure just in case it's when we are good to go. Nice to hear from you.
I'm lovin my M4 Merocas so far. Is it normal to have to pre pump the levers to get them up to max? I'm tempted to bleed my front or add some fluid. Find my fronts slightly mushier than rear.
Really?? That is usually the other way around, I actually (when we had the zooms going), unscrewed the throw adjustment all the way and screwed it back in, it seemed to apply more pressure evenly....but it does not feel like that for us so far. Give it a go!
great content and review. Really no reason for any half decent trail bike to NOT run these over mechanical disc brakes. Sure Shimano and SRAM brake weigh less and have more bells/whistles, but hopefully this pulls marketshare and creates a price lowering effect on all things MTB. Your reviews are raising awareness of decent products and have customers (like me) scratching their head as to why name brand parts cost so damn much nowadays. There's no reason why MTB bikes cost as much as a MX bikes.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Maybe talk about the medals you're holding in the intro of all the vids? That's some cool sh*t! Other bikes you're interested in trying out or building? How the channel started?

awesome review on the brakes. I've been wondering how well it performs for a while now. nice to see someone actually test it out. Would like to know whether you would think this is better than a shimano mt400 dual piston for trails and even enduro?
@Almuntasser Mohammad if money is no factor, then I would say MT-200 for reliability and ease of bleeding. For the current price difference I would lean towards the Meroca's. Hope this helps.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS awesome input man, really appreciate it. Any recommendation for budget 140mm forks (130mm or 150mm is fine as well)? somewhere around 150$ or so.
Well lets see, we do not recommend but....Checkout the Himalos?? Those were not too bad:) We installed them on the XR Pro Here is an affiliate link- Himalo Fork ebay.us/LOey9o
Give me better "1 finger" brakes any day! Of course when you have kid length fingers (as an adult), I need my other 4 fingers on my grips. Both my mtbs have 4 piston shimano brakes!!!
Have you guy bought the Meroca chainrings for shimano cranks yet? They look like XTR chainrings but will fit Deore and up 12 speed (6100, 7100, 8100, 9100).
Between these and the factory mechanical brakes that came on my Walgoose X1 Ledge... what would you say? Are they lighter than the mechanical? I'm a bit of a weight weenie on a budget (hence the bike I have vs anything carbon fiber) I'm okay with swapping the left and right levers (hopefully I have the right tool). Just curious about the weight of a cable vs fluid mass. This Ledge weighs over 40lbs! And needs a diet. Haha! Thanks for your insight! 😇

First of all we want to give a very big thank you for thinking of us and helping support the channel brother:) It feels great to get that kind of support, the bars are FREAKING AWESOME!! Cannot wait to install them and the TEKTROS! Thanks a Million and looking forward to some more brakes and bar action, we can always use them as I am sure you know LOL, hope to see ya FRIDAY man, we made it to 200 EPISODES and its gonna be a cool one:) See you Tom morrow brother, much Love Rax Man💙
Awesome real time review with such enthusiasm and detailed helpful commentary!! Love it! I'm surprised the brakes worked as well as they did. Patrion is a great idea!
Hey thanks EJ!! We are for sure thinking about it. Jeremiah gets on a bike and becomes a little kid again don't he😆.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS yes he does and that's what's so great about it! It's pure innocent enjoyment!
Yeeeha boys! Good stuff right there👍🤘
Thanks FERNANDO!!!! Appreciate ya man:)
I don't know if I approve of that spacer job on the brakes. But hey man, you made it work so you're a problem solver. Another great video guys. Have a great weekend #wolfticknation.
👍
I am glad that you guys is looking up for smaller guys (budget parts) for review and not bias bout it. Keep it up and i need your help if it possible. Please review budget full sus carbon frame from aliexpress of LEXON, BXT and TRIFOX brand. Appreciate if you could make it happen.
Sending you Love from Borneo island!!
Man that is too cool! Thank you for watching and commenting:) We will see what we can do brother, Maybe get a Trifox frame.....Ill ask!!
Seen bars like the trifox bars on a dream build. Been wanting some since I seen them. So nice. To bad I don't have a bike anymore
Man what bumme man, we feel terrible:(
Got them on my hardtail.love them. Woud use them on my full sus. But got longer and .
You got some!! Thats great:)
👍 Nice test run of the new components they looked like they performed great!
Man they were a winning combo, thanks brother for always being here:)
Man love the way you think. Thanks for the comment, these brakes keep me stopping and HAPPY!! VERY AWESOME CAPE TOWN 👏 YHANKS FOR BEING HERE MAN🙏
Those brakes look like a viable alternative. Great review!
Not bad at all. For the money that might be one of the best values at least on the short term. We will do a long term review at some point and see how it goes. Thanks man
Clark's has a brake pad link that shows cross compatibility with Shimano. I wonder if this holds true with the Merica m4 brakes?
I would love to know....let me have that link!
The link is hard to post. It seems that UA-cam blocks my post when I put in a link. I've tried 3 times. Frustrating! It has also blocked my 4try try. Just search for Clark's m4 brake I guess. Clark uses the vx851 model number for the m4 pads.
another awesome video, also yeah a long term review would be great!
Hell yeah man, I am curious as well, they are def gonna get some use! Thanks Mike....Hawk...LOL
Completely understand man, thanks for the heads up! Just got a pic showing what some one ran:)
Great review while riding looking forward to seeing those bars installed. And yes to patreon if it brings more parts and bikes to review.
Man thank you MR. BAIN! That is great man, we got a great community and we are glad you are here and would support man. It may be a serious venture:) Thanks for the Comment and need to figure out were we will install the bars!!
Im so glad these brakes performed great. Adding these ones on the upgrade list.
Hell yeah!! Very cool man, just make sure that list just has an affiliate link on it:)
Hell yeah brother! Thank you for being here and have a great WEEKEND!!
Very good point, they are strong and feel very good, but you are right....If you have to double finger them?? Hmmm lol
Glad to hear the chain guide works so well. Now I’ll have to install my mine since you have tried it and it works. I wonder if they have different size bash protectors (accessory) to allow for more clearance on the bottom
Gotcha man!! Thanks again and WOW!! I assume just not mount the basher guide?? It does hang down a little low....
Just got these brakes and they seem to work nicely but the front brake came a bit spungey and the back was fine, after a bleed the front brake seemed to be a lot better
Glad to hear that! Thats funny the front being the shortest is the one that needed bled! LOL
Man I must have buns of steel!LOL
Great video again 👍 brakes look nice trifox bars look cool looking forward to seeing them on a bike
For sure brother, hey what is it called when you have a hangover?? A women form the UK old me it was a pissr?? Or a pissder?? Ring a bell??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS it could be pissass or drunk as a skunk pissed as a newt hope that helps lol
PISSASS!! THATS IT HA HA!! Thanks man, I knew we could count onya:)
Appreciate the tip man:) We always bed them in.....And in most cases we wipe em down:)
the whole point of the "rivets" on the floating rotors is that the rotor can move independently of central hub. Being fixed is not good. maybe with time they will loosen up a bit.
Really?? Thats what we heard and maybe they will loosen a little, wolfman was telling me the same thing!!LOL Thanks Man
Well done as usual guys!
Appreciate ya man:) Thanks
Thanks for the review .. we need more budget brake ..
Gotch brother, thank you!
Really!! Man that is cool, we want to do a frame build like that!!! Thank you for watching and not a bad idea!! Later Gl333n!!!
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS the carbon frame is a challenge I would like to see you guys take on. A little more of a challenge with pressed bottom bracket and you can't really brute force and ignorance parts on the frame.
HA HA man I think we may skip out on it!! LOL Really not the most gentle:)
Shimano Ice tech 2 piece rotors are riveted also
Really?? Gotta look those up:)
What procedure do you use to "bed in" the brakes?
rolling about 15mph then slowing down to a walking pace, seperately using both brakes.
I’ve been running my rear brake like that for over a year with no problems. Not saying there won’t be eventually but rear brakes don’t have as much stress as the front
👍
Thanks for the possible support man, it means a lot to us and we may just go for it:) I have seen the Trifox frames, a little up there but man it would be cool!! Later brother!! 😂 DUDE!! 54???? NO YOU ARE NOT!! HA HA You look like you are 34! Thanks for buying a shirt and being here man:)
Btw i have washers on my rear brake as well it just sucks for alignment but once you tighten it dow you are good 6 months strong on my washers
Man we will try to do so, thanks for being here brother:) 2-3 more rides and we shall see!
Love your reviews man ! Awesome !
What type of olive and barb did you use on theM4 brakes to swap the levers from left to right ? Do you need a brand specific barb and olive, or can you use Tektro or Shimano parts ?
amzn.to/3PIex1H
I answered the first one brother, hope you get this affiliate.
Seems pretty nice although for the price I'd definitely have liked to see 1 finger levers but nonetheless they seem like a good budget pair of brakes
Man for $82 I can see them on another build of ours for sure:) Thanks dude!
Very good review but I would worry about the longevity of the washers you're using. There's gonna be so much stress on the caliper bolts without the cross brace. Be careful 🤞😁
Will do brother, dad just showed me pics of a dude who used a different style of adapter:) Thanks for looking out phil
Sitting here waiting for the Patreon page drinking my beer.
HA HA Nathan you are too much! Sounds like we would get along!! Thanks brother:) We will let you know! HA HA
Hi there, nice review. will these brakes be an upgrade for my stock SRAM Level T brakes?
Hey brother thanks for the question and comment. Unfortunately I have never had those Srams...But I can tell you, these 4 pistons are similar to a beefier version of Shimano MT200S, which are 2 piston and cone stock on most entry level bike shop bikes. So if yours are similar to the sound of the Shimano, possibly??? They are pretty nice.
Can you show how to service the meroca brake?
Possibly when the time comes, they are brand new and work just fine:) Thanks for watching, what is the problem with yours?
There supposed to move allite(floating?). There rivited the same way sport motorcycle rotors are rivited
Yep dad told me all about it:)
how about a big old English letterings across the shoulders with Wolfman letterings.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bought one myself when I saw your video, can I know what olive fittings can I use because I'm planning to change the hose for a longer one.
OK, now. Getting four-pot brakes set up for brake transducers is turning out to be tough…
Whats the problem??
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS finding the brakes in question. The place which I bought the original brakes from - which is in Canada- no longer *has* them…. There are places in Europe that has them, or similar, but the shipping is *evil.*
Note that the brakes in question have switches built in, rather than a kludgy makeshift that I’m certain to mess up…
I have a freak bike double left brakes would these still fit then trying to upgrade from the stock tekro hydraulic disc brakes that were on the bike couse they really have a on and off feeling and i would like some more controls on the downhills since i ride with 46kg of luggage on the bike sometimes
DOUBLE LEFT BRAKE!!?? LOL HUH? These should fit right up, as long as you have 160mm Rotors, then you should be fine:) Thanks man and remember, there are affiliate links BELOW!! :)
Hey eWolf & Tiva, what was the width of tire you were on the Axum? looked less than stock 2.8". That bike with a clutch derailleur (Deore=Dee Or Aye) works on the chatter. I would prefer the Patreon to support you guys I support others in Patreon too! Have my own there as well. Great show, was jonezin for your content yesterday! Peace on Ya!
Hey brother, it is a 2.4....NICE CATCH!! LOL Gotta maybe install the deore we had on the GT! Already been thinking of that:) Thank you for the kind words eBike mike:) Feels good to have you in our corner:)
I have mechanical brakes now, Trp Spyke they have pad movement. But I know even high end Shimano brakes have it.
Hmmm....the tektros we have do it BAD!!
Tektro Vela brakes we have, have a lot of pad movement...
Gotcha, do you ever experience pad movement?
19:31 Looks like the chainguide is not centred mabye 5 ot 10 degrees off. The bolt should be in line the centre of crank.
Hmmm....maybe we gotta take another looksy
Do you notice the difference between 2 and 4 piston
Very much so. With 4 piston you have to be careful not to go over the bars. It has quite a bit more force than a 2 piston on average.
I will be member #1

@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS i haven't touched the adjustment screw yet. Will try that before opening the system.
Good:) Let us know!
Really should throw that new Acolyte on that DP.....
Man we would but....it is the non clutched/stabilized version:( We do have the ole GT's Shimano Deore XT derailleur?? That would be PERFECT!!!!
great content and review.
Thanks man, we feel the same way. You know you make a great point about some MTB costing as much or more than MX bikes. That is just crazy.

Can we use shimano cooling pads on this meroca breaks? If can what variety of cooling pads can be fit.?
Not too sure man??
awesome review on the brakes. I've been wondering how well it performs for a while now. nice to see someone actually test it out. Would like to know whether you would think this is better than a shimano mt400 dual piston for trails and even enduro?
Thank you for watching man, now not too sure how they would do being out up to a mt400, we have mt420's and they will out brake these.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS awesome reply. one last thing, which one is better shimano mt200 or the meroca m4?
@Almuntasser Mohammad if money is no factor, then I would say MT-200 for reliability and ease of bleeding. For the current price difference I would lean towards the Meroca's. Hope this helps.
@@WOLFTICKVIDEOS awesome input man, really appreciate it. Any recommendation for budget 140mm forks (130mm or 150mm is fine as well)? somewhere around 150$ or so.

Mineral just like the Zooms
Between these and the factory mechanical brakes that came on my Walgoose X1 Ledge... what would you say? Are they lighter than the mechanical? I'm a bit of a weight weenie on a budget (hence the bike I have vs anything carbon fiber) I'm okay with swapping the left and right levers (hopefully I have the right tool).
