      @@paris466 Good point! If it were some political issue or other debate where the solution might go either way, you'd expect a similar split in opinion between educated people and dumb people. But belief in creation sharply DROPS the more educated a person is, and usually you want a country to be led by the best possible people. So this Creationist belief becomes suspect on its demographics alone.

    "There's 250 million letters in your book, could that just come from nothing?" Given like 3.5-4 billion years to accumulate, I'm surprised there isn't MORE letters in the book. They talk like evolution is like Pokemon, the big bang happened, and then everything that is currently existent sprung forward exactly how it is now. They simply cannot wrap their minds around exactly how LONG it took for things to get this far.

      People underestimate big numbers in general.
      256bit key (If we magically converted all energy of the sun with the efficiency of the latest technology into computation it would not be enough to crack it)
      strength of a thousand men (just me times 1000 would already result in lots of "world of cardboard" situations)

      Small brain syndrome is what i call it. It is hard to picture how large earth is for a lot of people, I still struggle even when messing around with Google maps. I even photoshoped a circle before to help me in my daily graphic art life, I make a circle where every pixel is 1 mile on earth and its just crazy how many thousands of miles it takes to make up earth. Even on the individual pixel per mile scale, the tallest building is just a tiny fraction of 1 of those small pixels.
      Something that helped me really get a scale for earths size was a road trip from Oklahoma to LA. This trip felt like we was never going to get there, its a little over a day of driving. I compared that length on Google earth, and I barely scratched the surface of this massive planet.

      To be fair, they think the Earth and entire universe is only around 6000 years old. Obviously in reality a grand total of fuck all noticeable evolution happens in that kind of time scale. Unfortunately most of them are so entrenched in the young Earth idea that they just reject everything outside of it. All we can really do is to attempt to sow they seed of doubt in their minds and if we succeed we can gently pull them back to reality. Of course they're also conditioned to believe that's exactly how the devil works so yeah...

    I've always found the analogy of computer code or an instruction book to be misleading. For both of those it is important that everything is very precise and in a very specific order. If you swapped two chapters of a book then it no longer makes any sense, but if you swapped the position of two genes it would still be fine. Each gene is more or less a self contained thing, so if one small thing changes it doesn't break everything (unless it removes/adds a nucleotide rather than changing it).

    I always find it funny when people seem to think that something is impossible because it was highly improbable to predict. Winning the lottery is highly unlikely. Winning every lottery drawing for the past year is that much more unlikely. Nonetheless, there were winning numbers for each of those drawings and no matter how unlikely the outcome, those numbers were drawn in that order.

    To all not so smart people that still use the “argument from complexity” as a proof of their specific god:
    1) Is your god more complex than the things he created?
    If yes - then he has to have a creator because he’s “too complex to not have an intelligent creator”
    If no - then you admit that more complex things could be created by less complex things - therefore you cannot actually deny that evolution happens! Also this means your god could not be intelligent as intellect is a property that demands complexity way above something like a stone has but your creator is less complex than a stone by your own admission!
    2) Even if I agree with you that everything was created by a deity of some sort - that none specific deity is still way far from your particular “personal” God! You still have a lot of work to do to actually convince me that it is indeed your god!

This friend of mine said you are an engineer, how would you design the human body. I thought about it and said 'I would have to think about the over all aspect of the way the systems inter act to make an informed decision.' To this some other person there said 'no human engineer could out preform gods work!' I looked at this person, and said why are you here at this medical center? 'Cancer treatment, why?' I smiled and looked at my friend and said what a great way to destroy a human life by a god.' we left. Peace

    3:30 -- all the questions as to why DNA has copying errors and such can be easily waved away by a Christian with the simple answer, "Because of the sin of Adam and Eve. It was perfect but became imperfect after they sinned."
    Of course, the whole book comparison serves two purposes: 1. To toss in big numbers and imagery to make it seem complex and amazing, and 2. To draw a direct connection to something we know is created by minds to make the jump to DNA being created by a mind.

    • @thomasherzog86
      @thomasherzog86 2 роки тому

      yeah, but they usually dont use the sin argument much because it can easily refuted with gods omnipotence. i think they more often argue that its the will of god to test people in his endless wisdom, like being specially chosen to suffer for a good place in heaven.

    • @Dracopol
      @Dracopol 2 роки тому

      You can confound the Christians with this poser, "But how DOES sin change physical objects like DNA sequences. Can it happen again? I mean, people are sinning all the time and they don't get more deformed like the Cronenbergs from Rick & Morty. So what exactly are the rules of this new Sin Mutation Science?"

    • @Kevin_Williamson
      @Kevin_Williamson 2 роки тому

      @@Dracopol -- there are umpteen articles online from different Christian groups that teach the whole "sin is in the genes" idea. Since no one has a sample of what Adam's untainted DNA was, no one can say what changes occurred after the Fall. So all we have now is the 'corrupted' DNA within all humans that leads us to sin. It doesn't have to change every time a person sins. It already has the sin nature, as is, that leads us to sin. It is naturally passed on to our children in the DNA. And no one can get rid of it unless they are 'saved' and die, then are reborn in a new body without the corrupted DNA.
      Just to clarify. I don't believe any of that. Just passing on what they teach as a friendly FYI.
