To keep oil based surfaces looking Beautiful for years and years use an auto wax. As stated in video, the 'chalking' will wash off fairly easy. Use of a white nylon pad helps immensely. Waxing literally Doubles the life of the paint. Of course, most people are too lazy for maintenance.
I can understand that applying the wax would work, just like waxing a car, it will extend the life of the paint because its a protective layer. Don't forget to, like, subscribe and share this video.
Great tips, nice door painting skills! Question, so about 2 months ago our house was painted including the steel arm (post) that supports the carport. There was severe rust i.e. holes in the elbows of the support and rust on the surface prior to painting (about 28 years old). I know the painters used a bit of Rust Kill or similar, before white acrylic top coats. About 2 week later.. this greeny/grey surface has shown up and continues to grow rapidly even on a bit of the wood where there was some mould i think. Would the remedy be cleaning off this growth, rust kill primer and the Oil based top coats? It's pretty much where severe rust was. Cheers mate
Hard to say but maybe the rust converter they used needed an oil based primer before being top coated. So you could try just going over the areas they did then repaint with acrylic paint, try a sample first, might save you a lot of work. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
Yes as it is an area that would barely get handled, were as posts are often lent on grabbed etc so they need a harder wearing paint. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
My experience is enamel used on outside windows just flakes off and acrylic house paint lasts longer as designed for heat, so ive used acrylic for window frames lately Answer which is better on a tin roof and should both have primer for durability ?
Acrylics are better externally than enamels so I would normally use acrylic for a roof but if you are collecting drinking water then enamel might be the better choice unless you go to an expensive water based roof paint. Priming will depend on condition of roof and the type of paint used. Also read instructions on the can as manufactures all have different systems, some paints are fine without a primer. How long ago was it painted with water base paint? It can take up to a week for it to harden up. To remove it all would be a big job, you could try a razor blade scraper and see how easy it will come off or you could try an oil-based seal binder. Depending on what type of water based paint was used the seal binder may be enough as it will soak in to the paint making it harder to scratch off.
Hi I would prefer oil based paint for out doors anywhere not only on metal but also on wood last longer, a trade paint is best but costs more and should last longer too.
I have a question if some one painted a whole unit the walls in enamel and some one painted over it in water base and now I see its easy scratches off what. To do to fix this problem ?????
Hi, If i was to use a set of oil based paints for Artistic work on metal would it stick on it or not? I heard that i can stick on but if someone tries to peel off the paint, it will come out easily. Any suggestion?
i saw a lady using an automotive detailing paint called 1 Shot to paint her metal art here it is ua-cam.com/video/EbIAKnWlysM/v-deo.html i have a white car, i noticed a few spots on the hood where the paint chipped off. i used white nail polish to cover it up as a quick fix ... that was 3 years ago, so far it hasn't yellowed or chipped off so now im using all this fingernail polish i have to paint rocks. what else am i going to do with it? i never paint my nails

If you have a metal carport/building with prepainted galvanized metal siding/panels, wouldn't using acrylic/latex paint over it be perfectly fine?
Yes as it is an area that would barely get handled, were as posts are often lent on grabbed etc so they need a harder wearing paint.

is white knight epoxy enamel the same as regular oil based in being self leveling?
As long as it has a long dry time then it should, the quicker it dries the less time it has to settle.

My post 30 meters from beach so use oilbase paint ?
If you can, have seen lots of metal post oxidise when painted with water based paint and near the ocean.

Sometimes water based paints will last longer outside due to being more flexible then oil based paints..
