I was a year ago, I lost me Mum. My heart still hurts. I miss her so much. Me dad left when I was just 5 years old. Me Mum worked her butt off, to give us 5 wee bairns a good life ! I had EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY on 8 track tape. Riding around in 1972 listening to it. AMAZING GRACE made me take notice. It was a powerful song. And Rod sings “...saved a WRETCH like me” Some versions say “...saved a SOUL like me” This is a very unusual musical cut to be on a rock album. It’s obvious Rod did it with emotion. Timeless. If you didn’t know better you might think it was a 78 rpm recording of a church meeting in Appalachia circa 1930. I have always felt this song played some part in my conversion a year later. It would be interesting to know how and why this song was included on EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY.

It looks like kind of an afterthought, whether it actually was or not. It's my favorite Amazing Grace ever, ever, ever. I've seen Rod in concert a half dozen times with my family. He's a rollicking good time. If you ever get the chance, don't miss it.

This is a hateful and disgraceful comment. Why is this top a voted comment. You start by saying it's tasteless to leave a negative comment on this song and continue by bashing a whole age demographic and a whole genre. You also annoyingly bash on people with a mental problem, it's not their fault they have that problem (and yes I understand that some people cut themselves to look cool but that's not the point). I'll admit that part about the cutting was a bit in bad taste but you must of have misread or something because I said that people that find this horrible or boring have no taste, I said nothing against the song. Then with the age demographic and genre thing they go together basically, have you never run into say a 13 year old that goes "Fuck (genre) because (genre) is the only way to go!" when they obiously havent even given it a try. I think what i was talking about a year ago was those kids that are around 12 that sit there listening to one kind of music without giving other genres a chance and still sit there and say "Any band that doesn't do what this band does with their vocals or instruments are instantly shit without me listening to them". No the age demographic and the genre don't go together. You don't have to be young to say Fuck x because x is better, you did it in your first comment and I can't say it was any better in your case just because I happen to like the genre you're defending. The purpose of music is to please not split against each other.
sorry I misread. that part about the song that was my fault. Maybe you dont run into those people but I see those kids everywhere. When I said that the age demographic and genre go together I mean it as in you see more people that are young spewing shit about another genre with no reason for hating it, like they dont even give it an actual chance.
