Me too. I like most of his songs, almost all, and it was so nice the 80's ( I know he started in 70's) but the 80's are the top still are...and this singer knew how to go older very well, he really is one rare that looks super, for his age and no plastics, or not exagerated which seems to be a problem, for others. They do so many and start at such younger age, that when they reach 50 the face looks horrible instead of nice.
After my mom got diagnosed with lung cancer, I brought my gigstar karaoke machine over. She sung this song. I still have the video. She finally passed two and a half years after her diagnosis. She fought so damn hard... This video, and song I will always cherish, because I know just how many times her very ears have heard it and love it. I was going through three years of hell with the wrong girlfriend in the wrong school studying all the wrong things when this song was popular. Rod Stewart never failed to pick me up out of my misery. Graduated high school in 1972. Songs like this were part of my introduction to a world I didn’t know existed outside the 4 walls of home. I longed for more of what the world had to offer. I was so excited to experience excitement. I had a high school boyfriend but he was not that into me however when I heard rock music I realized there were other guys around besides him. I knew nothing because I’d experienced nothing. But I was eager and ready.

The concert was simply amazing - fantastic show. When we returned home we listened to Maggie May again - couldn’t believe that the song is more than fifty years old. I am 69 and Rod Stewart has been around basically all my life ❤️
This song is like fine wine ... just gets better with time ... what a journey with Maggie .. and just love how the journey does'n't just get cut short (like so many great songs have done) but carries the verses further with wonderful instrumental accompliment ,,, Sir Rod you really hit bulls eye with your Maggie May journey ... and it's scripted so that it is wonderfully believable ... like a movie going off in my mind ... you can really feel the young guys dilemma .. and Maggie's too !!
"Maggie May" is more than just another song; it holds a sentimental place in my heart. The nostalgic opening guitar riff, coupled with Rod Stewart's soulful vocals, transports me back to the carefree days of my youth. The lyrics perfectly capture the unrequited love and coming-of-age experiences that many of us can relate to. This song showcases Rod Stewart's undeniable talent. The combination of his raspy yet melodic voice, the energetic guitar solos, and the infectious rhythm creates an unforgettable listening experience. The folk-inspired melodies seamlessly blend with rock elements, making "Maggie May" a true masterpiece of musical craftsmanship.
I remember watching this. I was 15, and my two older sisters loved it. They've both passed away now. I miss them so much, and when I watch this, I close my eyes and see their excitement when they first heard it.
There are people who were born, lived into their early 60s, and died, all within Rod Stewart's career; that is how long her has been around as an entertainer. Astounding!!
This song came out when I was two and I remember it through my entire childhood and adulthood. It is my absolute favorite song. I have no idea what it is about it, but I dig it

I don’t know why , but the song sounds like underdogs that made it , the intro , teetering on collapse , the vulnerable verses and then the climax of despair at the ending , priceless !!
So amazing. When i hear maggie may i am taken back to a very place and time that will live on forever. It will never be forgotten. Rod Stewart is such a legend. He was one if the inventors of long live rock. All i can say is thank you.
I was 16 living in rural Vermont when this song came on the radio. I was just coming into semi adult hood, and to this day this song brings back memories like no other.
I was 13 cleaning my Preston Petty plastic fender for my DKW in the Hollywood hills when I took my sister's Rod Stewart album and blasted Maggie May over and over again. I saw him Last year in Vegas. He killed it! Love Rod. We will be going again soon! At 67 this stuff never get's old!
To think that Rod never thought this song would be a hit. It was the B side of a 45 he put out. Some DJ in Cleveland thought the tune was really good and started playing it, another DJ in Chicago heard that it was being requested heavily in Cleveland so he gave it a try on the Chicago radio station, the requests took off like lightning! It swept the nation and the world!

I was just wondering if i could get away with a shag cut.... I'm a 60 year wold woman. It would be a change :) I miss when we had actual hair styles.
Sebastian loves Rod Stewart so much as a teenager he liked less rock music and more country music
Back in the day we paid a lot of money for that haircut. And truth be told very few barbers had the skill to do that style. Just one in my town.
Something for the weekend too, sir!
Brilliant my sister who is 73 still remember her younger brother, me standing on the dining room table with the hoover tube singing this song. BRILLIANT
Never get tired of this song. Truly a classic!
My wife and I have been married for 47 years. She is 7 years older than I and this song is us. We have adopted this as our song.
47 years married congratulations to you both and what a great song you both adopted to be your song..
That's greedy. What if someone else wants to hear it?
@Sceneyour
You can adopt it too as they do 😂👊🏽
Ummmm.... Odd choice, maybe.
💗
It not the end his music will live forever. He is 80 yrs old enjoy what time you have left. Thank you for all the great music.
I started going to see him at age 14. Im now 67!! I love him❤️
Hell yes
Met my girl friend when this was playing..49 years later still married...thanks Rod
Very lucky man tell her u love her
I was going through three years of hell with the wrong girlfriend in the wrong school studying all the wrong things when this song was popular. Rod Stewart never failed to pick me up out of my misery. I bought a piano and taught myself to play and I would close my eyes and play notes I couldn't name until it sounded the way I was feeling and then I started feeling better. Music can keep you alive.
You nailed it Paul mate 🤘🇦🇺🦘☺️✌️🥃🥃🚬

You must have the music in ya too.

I was going through three years of hell with an egotistical/selfish boyfriend.
Don't know why I did not dump him sooner. Probably because it would exacerbate his manic/depressive episodic behavior.
They don’t/can’t write songs like this anymore, just classic!! 🤗
6-2-23 listenin' and lovin' this guy's gravelly voice and everything about him! The lyrics were sensational!! Where's the writers now that can outdo this? Bring it on! But they won't deliver like Rod's unique voice! (The new singers!) 🌹 rosita
They CAN'T my dear friend.
They can't ! totally different people here on Earth now!
That's why the new generation is mad...we had the best bands/music ❤ let's not forget cars 😊
It's hard to write a song about a simple private life experience in a public world that's crammed into a laptop .
It's a song where you understand every word which is rare! Rod was talented
Damn…YES, great point!!
And all a true story about loosing his virginity. Amazing song
He was even a stud then
IS talented and still can rock it.
Yo no entiendo ninguna. No hablo inglés pero me gusta mucho
I was 16 and the world was mine working out doors on the Institute Of Technology at the levels which is now Uni SA in Mawson Lakes campus when I first heard this great song.I thought it was never going to stop, and I didn't want it to.Great memories of an era of freedom and happiness of which we probably will never see again unfortunately.Just like Woodstock a once in a lifetime experience.Peace to all.
My first Rod Stewart concert was in 1977. I get to see him this August 2022. I think this will be my last Rod Stewart concert. I wish people didn't get old.

I loved this song. At 18, my family was going through a crises, if I knew then my mom had less than 2 yrs. to live, we would have tried to do things differently. Oh well, now at 67, I hope I know better. Still love this song, & still have the original 45 I got at Woolworths!!
❤
I still have my family's disco stereo juke box sort of deal with flashing coloured lights even also from Woolworth's. Omg and it still works! Kids love it still and said that I can never sell it! :) So awesome! :)

Love that song! When the right voice, the right music, and the right lyrics come together--it's magic!
É maravilhosa mesmo, não tem como ouvi lá e ficar sem dançar, eu amo essa obra de arte!🇧🇷
Brings back a lot of memories

Many classic rock bands have a signature song. Maggie Mae is Rod Stewart's. The mandolin is what made this song a classic
This song has aged like fine wine.
Timeless!! Rod was a icon!! Those that grew up with this music are the only ones who can appreciate his talent 😎👍
Lies!! I was born in 90 lol
Don’t be silly.
Miss mayflower your absolutely right
I remember watching this.
18 yrs old when this came out seeing this on top of the pops. Fab times- 70's were great. Glad that I belonged to those times. Forever grateful!
This song came out when I was two and I remember it through my entire childhood and adulthood. It is my absolute favorite song. I have no idea what it is about it, but I dig it
You can look the meaning up.

My dad loves to tell me the stories of seeing Rod in concert. He always says that the lights would all go out, excitement would ripple through the crowd and right at “Wake up Maggie” the lights would come back on and the crowd would go crazy. And how Rod would always kick soccer balls into the audience ⚽️
