Prince wasn't snubbed....Q, Lionel, & MJ wanted Prince on the song from the beginning as one of the featured artists & even crafted a portion of the song to showcase he & MJ, but Prince balked at singing & doubled down on only wanting to play guitar, so Q got pissed & gave his lines to Huey Lewis & then relegated Prince to the backup chorus. Prince sent Sheila E in his place, & he went out clubbing with his band & bodyguards, who ended up roughing up a group of paparrazzi
It’s pronounced “BUY-AZZ” not BAYZ. She, along with Dylan, were the (folk song) voices of the 60s. She’s long before my time but I respect all musical genres and learn the names of key individuals
Madonna e Prince não são puxa saco e tem personalidade, igual o Michael Jackson. Eles não precisam aparecer em um videoclipe pra mostrar que ajudam, igual o Michael Jackson.
Wasn’t the live aid concert a fundraiser to save the starving children as well? If you wanna bash her for not going because of her ego then you can’t really bash her because they said LEAVE ALL EGOS AT THE FRONT DOOR meaning Madonna wouldn’t be able to do that knowing how confrontational she is. Also bash Prince if your gonna bash her
Well Huey sure did nail his part, thas for damn sure. Can’t really imagine anyone else really singing it. It’s appropriate that moment lives in infamy, since he can no longer sing due to a condition he’s suffered.
I hate Madonna so I'm glad they snubbed her. Prince not attending was a bad look. That whole "holier than thou" attitude didn't serve him well, but at the same time he probably didn't like being around other celebrities and was probably an introvert so can't really blame him. At least he contributed something to the album. That showed it didn't have to do with the cause and more with being around other celebs.
I know I'm going to have to read a few tantrums for writing this. "Biggest SELLING artist" doesn't mean "Biggest artist in the world". And two: MJ and Prince were rivals in our minds. Full stop. Prince said he never saw MJ as a rival. I can understand that if I think in a strictly musical way, because Prince was absolutely free and MJ only beat him in fame and money: he was a multi-instrumentalist, composer*, writer*, arranger, singer, dancer, actor, showman, workaholic, had an insane vocal range, wrote the music he liked (not what the charts dictated), had a knack for being several years ahead of the rest (in sounds, rhythms and recording techniques) and already owned at that time 2 Oscar awards. (*) it is probably more than 95% of his songs are signed by him alone as the solo author. PS: The narrator is quite malicious with the use of "prima donna", that term is feminine, it does not apply to men. Nor is diva, in any case it would be divo. Second PS: When Prince did charity work, donated money or volunteered to help, he NEVER needed anyone to take his picture. Hos we know that his donations were far more than numerous and there is talk of many millions of dollars. A small example: 25 million to install solar panels.

having both madonna and cindy lauper together wouldn't have worked as both at the time were the same kind of act. plus you need team players and her attitude with not singing "we are the world" showed this was about her and not something bigger. she wasn't missed. prince always had a chip on his shoulder with michael with his small man syndrome both literally and figuratively. he was never bigger than michael. knowing him, he probably would have broken off mid way through his part and done some stupid riffing which would inevitably backfire on him like the time with james brown. i've never got the love-in with prince from his fanboys/fangirls. yes, he was talented with his multi instrument playing ability, but that's where it ends. in terms of contribution to music, he has done nothing. he wasn't missed on this project either.
@@EricSmith-km1jb at least prince contributed a song to the album and took the backlash from not doing “we are the world” like a king. this “attitude” and “ego” thing with madonna is ridiculous though, she was clearly never invited as stated by lionel ritchie himself, nile rodgers, and some other background people working on it so this wasn’t about her at all. she even contributed towards the live aid concert fundraiser which raised money for the cause, so it was about something bigger at the end of the day.

Prince sent Sheila E in his place, & he went out clubbing with his band & bodyguards, who ended up roughing up a group of paparrazzi
in an alternate universe quincy would’ve let prince lay down a guitar track and it would’ve been so epic.
It’s pronounced “BUY-AZZ” not BAYZ. She, along with Dylan, were the (folk song) voices of the 60s. She’s long before my time but I respect all musical genres and learn the names of key individuals
Can you talk about Michael Jackson's 30th anniversary concert and the production behind that and who was going to perform but didn't make it
So Madonna proved she didn't care about the dying starving children, but her own ego.
@@MrCyberamp lol the whole project was about virtue signaling 😅
Madonna e Prince não são puxa saco e tem personalidade, igual o Michael Jackson. Eles não precisam aparecer em um videoclipe pra mostrar que ajudam, igual o Michael Jackson.
So did Prince
@@MrCyberamp So did Prince
Wasn’t the live aid concert a fundraiser to save the starving children as well? If you wanna bash her for not going because of her ego then you can’t really bash her because they said LEAVE ALL EGOS AT THE FRONT DOOR meaning Madonna wouldn’t be able to do that knowing how confrontational she is. Also bash Prince if your gonna bash her
Well Huey sure did nail his part, thas for damn sure. Can’t really imagine anyone else really singing it. It’s appropriate that moment lives in infamy, since he can no longer sing due to a condition he’s suffered.
Donna Summer didn't make the cut?😏
That's what I said!
Donna Summer had a lot going on at home. Watched her documentary that woman was carrying a ridiculous amount of baggage.
And the sad thing is after everything was done hardly any of the money got to the starving people
I hate Madonna so I'm glad they snubbed her.
Prince not attending was a bad look. That whole "holier than thou"
attitude didn't serve him well, but at the same time he probably didn't
like being around other celebrities and was probably an introvert so
can't really blame him. At least he contributed something to the album.
That showed it didn't have to do with the cause and more with being
around other celebs.
Where Joan Baez is concerned, it’s pronounced “By-ez”, not “Baze.”
A small example: 25 million to install solar panels.
so true and well said your comment deserved alot of likes but this channel is biased for jackson unfortunately prince was on another level as an artist and entertainer period
Record Sales and Concert sales are very important!
@@batmandestroys1978 Yes, you are right, sales means you are POPULAR and are important to the music industry business. But irrelevant for measuring talent. K-Pop sells more than jazz... Do you understand that last one?
Prince seemed self centered
Yeah he seems very narcissistic. I like his music but I wish he could have dropped his ego 😒
It wasn't ego, he had ways about him almost on the spectrum and part of why he was so genius in his craft, no one worked harder or more focused.
Yes there was some ego there but I believe he had real issues with things that were "out of his control" like he's OCD about it.
He was never going to show up. They kept trying to drag him into it but it was never going to happen. #1: Prince did not record like that and wasn’t comfortable with large groups of people he didn’t know. #2: Prince was not one to publicize or make a Hollywood scene about giving back to others. #3: He was just doing what he normally did for his PR Tour Schedule, rehearse, perform and party. It was all cool until the paparazzi messed around. He still gave a track and video to the We Are The World album. His side of the story is always left out to portray him as the bad guy. The stars pat themselves on the back and left, meanwhile we still don’t know where that WATA money went.
@@Veloci_TraptorSure like the celebs there weren’t ego stroking?
@@theonlyone23576 Not to the point where they decided not to participate in a charity event, goes to show where Prince's interest lies, once again proving my point. If you want to be salty and give excuses for a guy you don't know, go for it, I'm not going to stop you. To anyone else he just looks like a child throwing a temper tantrum because he's not used to playing on the playground with the big kids and his parents didn't give the spoiled brat his own playroom to record in 🤷♂
I love Prince's music btw but I'm not going to sit here and act like he shouldn't have been in We Are The World to accommodate his childlike prerequisites. You can make up any reasoning you want to explain, the reality is no one is going to read it or care. What people will remember is how he didn't participate because he wasn't mature enough to try something new and put himself out of his comfort zone. Anyway I'm not trying to provoke you or anything, I'm just stating my opinion. I respect your feelings, it's all love at the end of the day. I just wish we could have got a collab from Mike and Prince because I love both of their music and artistry, so maybe that's part of why I'm scrutinizing him more. RIP to both Kings

Quantity, quality was ok too but mostly quantity!
How many times are you going to tell this story?
I never noticed jackie wasn't in we are the world. So that's rebbie, jackie, jermaine & janet excluded.... damn🤦🏿♂️🧘🏾♂️
well janet became a bigger artist when control came out in 1986 so i’m not surprised she wasn’t involved. though her siblings arguably weren’t that big anymore either, they were all there except for jermaine so why she wasn’t able to make it is anyone’s guess. and well we know bout jermaine
I’m still surprised Rick James didn’t make it
I imagine this will only be of interest to a few people, but...if you go to this link you'll see at around 6:25 a video people arriving like Tina Turner, Bette Midler, Kenny Loggins, then there is a brief video of Lionel Richie with his wife at the time ... and then Lola Falana actually enters the picture and Lionel takes a picture with Lola Falana on one side and his wife on the other. Lola's star unfortunately was falling fast after around 1982, she was still around and played Vegas, but by the end of the 80s, she was a non-entity in the entertainment world. I feel for her. I wounder what they told her after she showed up.?

I would like to know why they couldn't get Ted Nugent.
He was probably off shooting something.
Prince is my all time favorite in any form of entertainment, he was totally in the wrong. it's as simple as he was not gonna be seen as working for or beneath Michael...
if some random guy wrote it with he & MJ on it, then maybe, but no way he'd be under Michael
8:36 I don't know if Prince said that himself, but for Wendy to say that in her book makes her such a petty prick
having both madonna and cindy lauper together wouldn't have worked as both at the time were the same kind of act. plus you need team players and her attitude with not singing "we are the world" showed this was about her and not something bigger. she wasn't missed.
prince always had a chip on his shoulder with michael with his small man syndrome both literally and figuratively. he was never bigger than michael. knowing him, he probably would have broken off mid way through his part and done some stupid riffing which would inevitably backfire on him like the time with james brown.
i've never got the love-in with prince from his fanboys/fangirls. yes, he was talented with his multi instrument playing ability, but that's where it ends. in terms of contribution to music, he has done nothing. he wasn't missed on this project either.
Prince is the same guy who refused to have his music clips on UA-cam, saying that the internet was a fad and would die after ten years.
I remember typing in Prince songs into UA-cam's engine to see what came up, and instead of the song, it was videos of irate fans bagging Prince for not putting his songs online.

This channel did a video on Prince before regarding his sexuality. It was not well received

@@eph_loves_80s74 OK. You're entitled to your opinion.
@daryltracy7949 most of this channel's videos on Michael's hot topics like skin color and sexuality are not well received. People tend to want to believe their idols are perfect and 100% truthful. Videos that point out facts that fly in the fact of that always get backlash.
@@introspectivetonysoprano, People would much rather believe dumb rumors, and stupid _LIES,_ which is really sad 😢. But, does that mean the public and the media are necessarily being “objective” and “realistic”? No. No one on this Earth has ever been perfect* (*but _ONE_ person alone, who _remained_ that way, as _THE_ example for everyone else), but that is absolutely _NO_ excuse for the media to outright bold-face _LIE_ to the public about anyone and to slander the name/reputation, no matter whose name and reputation it is. The excuse of “ _Well....They’re not ‘perfect.’_ ” is not any justification for making up stories, nor for sensationalism in the media.
Entertainers/performers are just _people,_ first and foremost, not to be looked up to and idolized. One may be a fan of a particular artist or genre, but some amongst the fan-bases go _WAY beyond_ simply the enjoyment of the music or interest in an artist’s work, which is _ridiculous._
