If you read Latoya's book, she talks about how he had no regard for how any of his older children would feel when he learned his mistress was pregnant. He basically told them they had a baby sister on the way (not Katherine's though!) like it was the most natural thing in the world. He didn't care about Katherine or his kids' feelings. It's understandable why they would resent him and anyone attached to the situation. Can you imagine knowing your abusive father is cheating on your sweet mother for YEARS and having to act like everything was fine. THEN he eventually starts a secret family and gives that child all the love and care he couldn't find for you? They couldn't even call him "Dad", couldn't get a hug, or an "I love you" but the new baby did? I don't blame them for feeling loyalty to Katherine or for feeling uncomfortable with Joh'vonnie for the rest of their lives. I think they did the best they could with what they were comfortable with by inviting her to functions later on. But did you notice that only Katherine and Rebbie were close to her? Likely due to their religious beliefs more than anything. No, Joh'vonnie didn't deserve to be hurt but she has to understand the dad she knew was not the father they did. The whole situation is sad
It's weird to me that she keeps insinuating that she could've had a huge impact on Michael's life if she had only been a part of it. I don't buy that for a second. The people he was closest to all his life couldn't save him. I don't believe she would've had the kind of impact she thinks she would have. Joseph did much harm to his family. There should be no blame or judgment on the Jackson siblings' behavior in this case. They certainly never accepted their father's affairs, remembering how they were treated by him. Joh'Vonnie found herself in this situation through no fault of her own, but she shouldn't have imposed herself and demanded an outburst of brotherly love. Joe put all his children in a dire situation. Very sad.
As a grown woman she should understand that she is a permanent reminder of Joe's betrayal of their mother. Actually, it's been said by others that Michael was a lot like his Dad Joseph. Even his speaking voice was different than when he was "on." Different people who've worked with him and family members etc... Whether or not she had firsthand experience or not, I can't say I disagree with her - Michael often played the victim card and exhibited a lot of self-pity. I'm not saying he wasn't mistreated or discriminated or abused in many situations but even many of the siblings don't agree to the same extent of abuse as he did. One could argue Stevie Wonder had a worse childhood dealing with blindness and his parents divorcing. I can't find it now but the "On My Anger" thread at Maximum Jackson was a real eye-opener - rational MJ fans who vented about his arrogance and self-pity getting in the way of his life. From business perspective, he was notorious for being shrewd and often cutting ties or falling out of partnerships abruptly. A lot of it could be attributed to a paranoia and the pressures of his reputation and his fans are quick to blame these people (Quincy Jones, Paul Anka, Prince to name a few) for misusing him when he still shares some of the blame.

This situation all around is sad. As Joh'Vonnie got older. she should have understood that her siblings'problem with her was not personal, Her approach was a bit naive from the start. She has to remember that all along Michael and his brothers knew Joe would go off and have his affairs while they were on tour. Joh'Vonnie could have easily tried to mend those relationships between her siblings and Joseph. I think they would had appreciated her for that and saw that she actually cared about sharing the same type of relationship with Joe, but instead she flaunted around how well she was treated and was even able to call him "Daddy"; knowing that her other siblings never had that bond with him. It’s crazy that Michael and Johvonnie met as late as 2003 😮 and that Michael was cold towards her, it’s very understandably given what his own relationship with Joseph was like, but Michael always preached about spreading love and treating others equally and not to judge. But again it’s always easier to say than do.

It seems like Joe's used emotional distance to create professional success in his children. The one he allowed to call him "Daddy" ended up living a regular life out of showbiz. In fact, she was in the group photo that was shown in the beginning, they have invited her over to dinner, conversate after Joe's funeral, she was in Tito's video. She has moved to Georgia and living a good life. They still in communication with her.

I'm not saying he wasn't mistreated or discriminated or abused in many situations but even many of the siblings don't agree to the same extent of abuse as he did. From business perspective, he was notorious for being shrewd and often cutting ties or falling out of partnerships abruptly. A lot of it could be attributed to a paranoia and the pressures of his reputation and his fans are quick to blame these people (Quincy Jones, Paul Anka, Prince to name a few) for misusing him when he still shares some of the blame.

This situation all around is sad. As Joh'Vonnie got older. she should have understood that her siblings'problem with her was not personal, Her approach was a bit naive from the start. She has to remember that all along Michael and his brothers knew Joe would go off and have his affairs while they were on tour. Joh'Vonnie could have easily tried to mend those relationships between her siblings and Joseph. I think they would had appreciated her for that and saw that she actually cared about sharing the same type of relationship with Joe, but instead she flaunted around how well she was treated and was even able to call him "Daddy"; knowing that her other siblings never had that bond with him. The truth is she has nothing to complain about. She got all the love and kindness from Joe. She got the family and father they wanted. The Jackson's got the work and no childhood and the abuse so they could make money for their father who in return used some of it for his other family. I say she got plenty. She should just go away and leave them alone.
Just children who haven't been loved by their fathers and worse those fathers cared about other kids but not them, can understand Michael's behaviour with this girl. It was too painful for Him and his brothers and sisters. While I have tremendous sympathy for Joh'Vonnie Jackson, her father not only betrayed his wife, but his children as well. I can understand their unwillingness to accept her and would probably feel the same as them if I were in that situation.

tbh they didn’t and don’t own her anything. Joe stepped and had another kid and kept it a secret. The Jackson children were close and basically did everything together. If Joe wanted them to be a big happy family he would’ve introduced them. He treated them terribly and had them follow bizarre rules but treated his outside child a whole lot better.
