I get orphan scrap blocks from our leftover scrap store, which supports the Senior Center, here in Sonoma County. I have made 2 quilts so far of orphans, from the many ladies' donations to the shop. The shop volunteers are extraordinarily wonderful people!
That's wonderful! I love how resourceful and generous quilters are 😍
Hi Mary, how’s your day going with you?
I love the square in square
So many fun ways to use leftover HSTs 🎉 Thanks for watching!
Thanks for explaining the exploding square block. It really is an effective design. It has a complicated look, while being very easy to create.
Thanks for watching! There are so many fun things to do with HSTs. What is your favorite quilt block?
@@TrueBlueQuilts I have been thinking this over, and I am finding it hard to pin down a particular block. There are some I like that I haven't ever made, but I really like the friendship star, log cabin, and 54-40 or Fight. Lots of different methods used in these. The half-square triangle is surely versatile, isn't it?
@@leslieschmidt9765 HSTs can be used in so many ways! Have you seen my Split Nine Patch scrap quilt? That was a fun long-term project 🎉Split nine patch - how to make this scrappy quilt block

@@TrueBlueQuilts Thanks for the heads-up about the Split Nine Patch. It really is so versatile. I have always loved the log cabin and the terrific variety of designs possible. Using the split 9-patch is a great way to accomplish that effect.
