CREATING A HERRINGBONE PATTERN DECORATIVE WALL USING OLD FENCE PLANKS

A friend of mine who operates a nonprofit organization that teaches young people about film making is remodeling his studio and asked me if I would be able to create a decorative wall using some old fence planks that he had. He wanted the wall to be used as a background for photos and videos. Of course I said that it would not be a problem. Well problems immediately occurred, first the planks were in really bad shape and the wall itself was not very flat. With a little brain power we came up with a solution to create a wall that would fulfil his needs.
Since neither the wall nor planks were flat, just nailing (or stapling) them to the wall was not going to work. So we used liquid nails to hold the planks to the wall. But as anyone who has used liquid nails can attest, it takes a while it to cure. On some of the planks I used almost a half a tube of liquid nails just so contact could be made. As with many projects it did not totally go as planed, but I do believe the end result was worth it and he likes the outcome.
