- Feeling like a teenager again, this is the definition of a properly built Max Power car! The Max Power era was all about looks and standing out from the crowd and this car does exactly that. This is a Renault 5 GT turbo with a lot of K Tec goodies, it is owned by mr waxandaway himself, so no wonder it is one of the cleanest R5 out there! Feel the nostalgia and travel back to early 2000s and enjoy!

Miss thm days of fast car, max power, redline car magazines that was what I asked for when in the shop with my mum or dad, not sweets 😂. If I'm correct the Renault 5 gt turbo was only a 1.4l turbo for the engine size and the fiat uno turbo was a smaller size engine of a 1.3l turbo so getting 150bhp to 300bhp out of a 1.4l is mad power when u think about it especially for the day. 💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥👌👌👊👊👊

@@flippingcarsrepairs mapping cars back In the day wasn't really a thing, it was all about getting it chipped or bigger fuel jets and cars were deffo much better. So you must have been dreaming about the future, when cars are getting mapped and thay are boring and don't last over 100000/130000 then need a new engine or need to be rewired

PS: K-Tec are still going strong, mate. Offer really good bolt ons, engine conversions, turbo conversions. My first car was a horribly unreliable, brand new 1.2L phase 2 clio. I remember back in the day (2001) they offered a package even for a 1.2. Even a 4-2-1 Manifold. Pack took a 1.2 up to 80hp, 20hp over standard, which is nothing to be sniffed at, that's 33% more power!
Twin dump valves. Love it. Remember seeing one with 3. Mad.
I had 3 Bailey dump valves on my mine. Yes I was one of those idiots. Looked cool though.
@horyzengaming3935 nice one bud. I do distinctly remember not much noise coming from 3 of them haha. As a young un, I expected it to be mega loud.
My bird had one back in the day. The speedo didn't work in hers either. Rather have mint one like that one looks and de Max Power it. Would love to see Max Power girls brought back though...mabie they haven't aged so well 😂
They decided to work when they feel like it 🤣 but will have them sorted when we take the dash apart

The blue Corbeau seats are MAXPOWER period correct.
Had an F reg one with a Devil sport silencer. Sounded so crisp. Used to get people knkcking on, to tell me that their was a fan running when the car was turned off, it was the Anti perculation fan that blew on the base of the carb, to stop the petrol evaporating, to eliminate hard starting. Used to go through clutch cables for fun, so dropped the engine & box at work & replaced it, made no difference whatsoever ! Its just how they were 😂

I’d imagine that a lot of the people who didn’t have the cash for all this at the time are at an age where they have a spare few quid.
Max power got a little ott for me in the end and edged more towards Performance Ford/Fast Forward.
Tidy motor though.
Glad it's not just me that doesn't like toff wagons. Never been into super cars, more into a blue collar car mod it engine wise, usually embarrassing most of the 90,s "supercars" I was always Vauxhall, nova then moved onto corsa b, had a few Cavs n veccy b. But I live love my lil B
Ktec was started by a guy that used to work for the original and best R5gtt tuner gt tuning, I bet the miles are low on this car because the clocks aren’t registering the mileage they all used to pack in
The Milage clocks work and everything else just the Speedo intermittent. Got paperwork of everything that’s been done to it like the yellow pages luckily
@@WAXANDAWAY if the speedo is intermittent I’m guessing the mileage would be aswell, back years ago all the lads used to think the clocks were at fault, but I’ve been told it can be a three pin electrical wire that sits behind the air filter box to a sensor in the gearbox which can be the issue
It only started doing it 3 weeks ago and have all the history I need so it’s all good 👌🏽 wasn’t doing it when I bought it

Really is mad to think of the power figures names like K-TEC & BB Performance Tuning were coming out with some 20 years back, off the top of my head I know there was two Max Power Cover Cars that pushed over 350bhp from the C1J’s.

Ktec never made 300bhp from a r5gtt they probably struggle for 200bhp
Im so glad i was born in the early 80’s to not just live through the max power years but could drive at the time too
I only ever managed to build 1 what you would call feature worthy car and got a 3 page feature in max power but the itch has never quite gone and being in my early 40’s now i do find myself thinking about building something like this again more and more
