Brilliant. Brings back the days many years ago when I had one. Wheel bearings, clutch cables, doors opening themselves, water puddles on floor, only to mention a few issues. Despite all of this I loved it. Sold for 1200, so there you go. Probably worth bit more these days. Thanks for doing the video. It’s good to see around one again.

I had a Raider, I drove it flat-out everywhere in the late 90s, great memories! This one is in beautiful original condition. So many got Barried, such a shame
It was only cosmetically different to the other GT Turbos. Nothing was mechanically different. Saying that all GT Turbos were awesome anyway. I had a Pearl white one in the 90s. Was brilliant to drive🥳 until it caught fire. ☹️
corret and id say the removal of the anti perc fan thats not good i had a simmiar issue when id smelt a burning smell.i had the same problem with the reserve tank as well as in this video @@GR666

I used the have a Renault 5 Gordinin Turbo back in the 80's,iwhen the GT Turbo came out it wasn't as nice inside as the Gordini,lot's of plastic but i think that was done not only for cost but for lightness. There was one advertised on ebay about 5 years ago exactly the same as mine and in the description the guy said " the best fun you will have with 110 hp" and i can definitely vouch for that . Both very fast hot hatches at that time and so glad i had one.
The raiders were just cosmetic changes to the normal gt turbos. IE the blue paint job, blue alloys and blue flecks on the seats. Nothing mechanical was different. Loving the wheels on this one
I wanted a turbo raider, as clio was on it's way and could get a good real as my wife's boss was a fleet customer. She put the brakes on that, we were soon divorced and I bought a 205 GTi.
Gorgeous cars, I absolutely love these, I was in love with them when I was a young kid, still are. I am a VW guy through and through but this will remain my true love. Thank you for this video, beautiful example.
Nice review of how to do a quick refresh to a vintage car. You don't seem to really appreciate the French and their production, but experience has shown me that what comes from other countries is not better. When we take good care of a car, almost anyone is pretty good.
It handled fantastic ,and overtaking cars was a blast drop from 3rd to 2nd and just smile and body popping laughing while I blast past 3 cars no speed bumps back in the day the fun I had in this car in London was gentle my REG was C738ULW.

The raider was not the last edition. Raiders came out in 90. But in 91, you could get only white or grey models, on H or J plates. I had a 91 H in white. Raiders are normally on a G

In my country It was called a blue sports edition. My first car a fire engine red Renault 5 1.7 gtx. I maintained it so good it got up to 500k before dying of old age.
If there are no hot start problems, check that there is a fuse inline with the anti percolation fan. The fan units draw a ton of power over time and can seize and burn out causing a fire.

My boss had a raider in 1989 and what a car it was. I remember it having a philips rds stereo which got us all excited 😂 Dangerous in the wet with no abs but fast as hell for its time.

Had a grey 89 gt turbo when I was 18, back in the day when insurance want crazy. Great little car, had the boost wound up a bit, intercooler strapped and a scorpion exhaust. Wish I could of kept a lot of the cars I've owned!!
Perfect video and content matey. My first car was a Mk1 GTL, I then went through escorts, golf’s beach buggy’s, and minis all in the 80s, bought my MK1 Gordini turbo in 1989, best car, part exchanged it for a Granada cosworth a couple of years later and it’s my biggest regret. When the Raider was released I’d gone backwards and had a mk2 Mexico. 😢
Looks like it's going to make a great motor for someone. I'm a geek and check the MOT history and it looks like this car has had a couple of periods of being off the road which will most likely be the reason the mileage is so low. Love it ❤
Yes I suppose it’s one of those, worth not much a few years back so not repaired and kept off the road. Now the more the car goes up in price the more people want to look after them 👍
Mileage is so low, if you look back at the mot history it doesn't go up for 5 tests, because the odometer cable snaps on them at about 80k miles so the mileage doesn't go up, zero miles in five years. They all do it. So unless it lived next door to the mot centre, the mileage is incorrect.

I miss mine. It was a 1985 in electric blue. Loved every second which was handy as it only ever run for a couple of minutes before exploding. Think I went through 3 engines in 2 years. That said I would have another one tomorrow but only if it was stock.

Since then I have had quite a few 172 / 182's and currently own a 182 Cup Race car that I manage to get a competition MOT on it every year so do a few track days with. The French are experts at FWD sports hatches. Funnily enough I ended up swapping the 5 GT out for a 205 GTi. Loved that thing too, cornered like a house fly.

the clutch would break. not exactly clutch the wire would go around some plastic cog piece above the clutch peddle it would break regularly and you have to start car up in gear to get it home lol

Not surprised those wheel bearings are knackered. Those wheels don't look anywhere close to being the correct offset for the car. I had mine from 96 to 05, still miss it every day.

I owned a mint 1986 Pearl White Series 1 GT Turbo in the early 90's. Fun little car but the panels used to pop in and out when i polished it.......wouldn't want to crash one🤥

I had one in the late 1990s. Previous owner upgraded the turbo to 160hp+. Loads of lag but decent power on boost.

Not surprised those wheel bearings are knackered. Those wheels don't look anywhere close to being the correct offset for the car. I had mine from 96 to 05, still miss it every day.
Amazing looking car. I guess they dont use salt on the roads where this car drives? :) I would love to have one of these cars. Those rims looks so good on it.
I owned a mint 1986 Pearl White Series 1 GT Turbo in the early 90's. Fun little car but the panels used to pop in and out when i polished it.......wouldn't want to crash one🤥
