I'm struggling with my most favourite ones and also meantioning 'best one', Bobby Jarzombek, Gene Hoglan, Mark Zonder, Jon Hiseman and Buddy Rich are for sure the top of what was and is around. Love Mark's playing since I heard 'The Aliens' like 30yrs ago for the first time. This was definitely not from this world.
Mark is a legend! He's not only a technically flawless drummer but most importantly an integral part of Warlord's timeless music. His chemistry with Bill was unique and unparalleled...
Bright and recognizable style, special and not like anyone in the approach to the structure of the drum parts, cunning and geometrically precise filling, elegance and subtlety, unique sound, making emotional feeding.
Nice feeling....you are a true soldier of the song....so many years I am listen to you....Guess all this comes from your character....Just a hi from Greece....
Has a very Steve Zimmerman feel in the drumming, so refreshing to see a super technical drummer be able to lay back and play some straight forward beats with some super classy hooks thrown in.
@@markzonder3771 Yes I know that, was only commenting on the feel of the song, the style, it is what I'm hearing as a musician when I listen to that song which to me had that early 80's feel to it which Steve was apart of also. I'm 52 years old and have been in the music industry myself for over 30+ years playing Bass for bands such as PEGAZUS and Black Majesty to name a few, I retired 5 years ago due to health reasons. I have always been a fan of Warlord as well as Fates Warning. Although I'm a Bass player I draw a lot from drummers, I have too, Neil Peart was a God to me. Mark has always pushed me to be a better player as I'm more of a prog player than traditional HM player, Joe DiBiase being a huge bass player influence on me, only wish I was as good as him. I even bumped into Ray Alder in an elevator in Europe when I was tour back in the early 2000's so Fates just has that little extra special meaning for me. I respect all the players that have been members of both bands for 40 odd years. It's nice to comment on peoples posts, it's show you are still following them after all these years and it's nice to let them know that they played a big part in your own musical career so I say Thanks to all of you. If this is the real Mark Zonder commenting thank you for replying, this has ticked off another thing on my bucket list. Cheers Cory Betts
Love this version of the old classic, Nicholas Leptos does a fantastic job delivering the vocals and Mark Zonder's drumming is both flawless and spectacular in it too. Mighty mighty stuff from US Metal's finest export...
Flawless as always - you can hear and see that you're uber-pro studio drummer, Mark ! Love you hi-hat work, rock solid dynamics \m/\m/ Maybe a little bit more Fates Warning ? Through Different Eyes or A Pleasant Shade of Gray XI ?
One is the first songs I learned to play drums to! My fav Warlord song played masterfully by one of my all time favorite drummers. Seeing the Aliens video was what got my playing traditional grip!
Just love it! My favorite Warlord song and one of my favorite drummers. Just love the way you play.. style, groove and how you dig it! I have a request.. can you do World Apart by Fates warning? Would love to see you do it
Mark is a great drummer in classic heavy metal. I only recently discovered Warlord's music, from watching that concert for vhs, and then I watched recordings of modern years. And I will say that Mark looks very good, his face is recognizable and it's great when through the years time changes a person naturally. I would also like to note from the vocals with which this group always had questions. With all due respect to the guys, Rick Demian 2 was the best, at least in the recordings he sounded very powerful. But live as I learned "alas". By the way, I was looking for information about him, I did not find anything on UA-cam, at the request of his name it gives out some kind of Christian preacher, but I do not know if he is. Hello everyone from Russia, there are also normal people here.
Mark. Brilliant drumming and technique. Can u please tell us your beginning to drumming, teachers, drum books u studied, and your setup on this vid??? Please Regards
Unique. :) How did you come to the traditional grip? It would be nich to hear from you. I ve never seen a video with you playing in matched. :) Greetings from Munich, Germany. :)
It incredibly odd to watch to a drum kit that's been panned as if you were looking at it, as opposed to actually playing it. It messes with your mind...lol Would love to know the specs of his setup these days. Apparently, DW has a way to make a 13" tom sound like a 16". If that's truly possible, I'd love to have a recording kit similar to Mark's with smaller drums for ergonomic purposes. Sorry, I'm rambling.... GREAT post, thanks for sharing, Mark!
This is perfection!!! My favorite drummer!!! One of the best drummers in this world!!

Absolutly amaaaazing .... Thank's a lot Mister Zonder to post this vidéo (y) (y) (y)
He often looks like a Jazz drummer but he's actually a heavy metal kid. Great.
Awesome man, Zonder is King! Love your chops man, Fates has not been the same without you.

I thought his drum parts with Fates were just genius. And he does it all with traditional grip. He does it all his way. Love it.
