I drove a truck for over 25 years. I have been retired for 10 years now. Went into teaching truck drivers at a school. I would not want to drive a truck today. Too many drivers today that don't pay attention, falling asleep or on the phone talking or texting. Drivers today that are taught by a company are not taught right. They don't even have to be tested by DPS. The company test them and let them go out with someone for a week or two then turn them out with a truck. I have seen many drivers today that don't know how to back up or turn a corner properly. But as I read earlier, it isn't always the trucker fault.
@@JGMor My Father taught me defensive driving. He had 75 crash free years of driving!!😯 He said use your mirrors and know what's around you and ALWAYS have an escape planned!! Now I'm approaching his record because he was an example!! Don't be an offensive driver!!😇

It’s not a myth, first off. I’ve been driving truck 22 years and I’ve learned a hell of a lot more than I ever did driving 4 wheel. The biggest problem in Canada and the US is the immigrants coming in and getting driving jobs easily through their own countrymen. They have next to no rules where they come from and they don’t respect North American people OR laws so they just continue on as they would have back home.
Ive learned the big rig drivers that the myth talks about are the ones who are under intense restrictions. Self owned drivers don't have to follow as many. Basically only road laws and ignore ignore it
Semi driver here. The average four wheeler driver drives 15,000 miles a year. The average semi driver drives 125,000 a year. Statistically, we are WAY better at it than 4 wheelers.

Its always seems like at stop lights its either the Semi not seeing the red or if they have green people turning into semi.
