Even 4 years later this is still the best video I've found on installing this, seeing exactly how you disconnected cables and the little comments while installing on what you're doing make all the difference. Thank you very much, my install went super smooth.
Got this in a few days ago from STG. I watched this video 2x and got this done in 15 minutes. It's so easy to install and cleans up the rear end really nice. Thanks Brian for the video and to STG for all the amazing service. Next up, a Yoshimura Full Exhaust.
you guys make the best how-to videos! i just installed this on my new bike (i've only had it for 2 days) and it came out perfectly. i really appreciate how meticulous you are with the installations... i'm the same way. i'll be following your Akrapovic slip-on exhaust how-to video when my exhaust arrives later this week. good stuff, thanks STG!
Doing the install today, looks very simple. Thanks for the install vid. In my opinion, this is the best fender eliminator kit in the market for this bike.
Just now figured out you guys are located in Michigan. I'm 20 & just bought a 2019 Ninja 400 for my first street bike. Learning a lot of things by watching this channel. When i get my endorsement and insurance on it in spring ill see about taking a trip from Brownstown up there to check things out. Seems like you guys are honest people with a passion for this stuff other than a bunch of salesmen trying to make a quick buck. Thanks for the tutorials and the tips. Keep up the good work!
We look forward to meeting you when you come out. If you want to see Max's Ninja race bike when you stop in just let the staff know. If I am here they can bring you down to my shop where the bikes are. - Van
Great install video I never had to touch the instructions from Yoshimura ...Only thing i effed up was the connector i melted one..Had to go the old electric tape method....Thanks for the awesome instructional
dude you are a genius with this lighter! I would never think of anything like that. I'm from Brazil and I always watch your videos with the ninja 400, I have one and I'm installing the accessories little by little and your videos help a lot!
I just did mine the only thing i can add is if you reverse the bracketts for the lights left to right you can hide the hardware and it kicks the lights out a little more
Zero personal experience with that brand. Took a quick look at it, very simple design that needs the OEM rear signals and plate light to be installed. The Yosh eliminator ships with an LED plate light, includes a plate frame and offers the ability to run aftermarket LED signals (optional brackets required). End of the day depends on what you prefer on your bike. I have installed 4 fender eliminators on the Ninja 400 now, each one offers a different look and features. - Van
Sportbike Track Gear Absolutely, it’s all about preference. Great job with your Ninja 400 vids 👍. Perhaps a new Project bike to look at would be that New Honda CB300R..Yes it’s only a 300, But one of the best looking little bikes out there, makes a great beginner & or 2nd bike that’s inexpensive.
Thanks for the kind words and for watching! For 2019 we will finish up the Ninja 400, the GSXR 1000 and the R3. (Still have a Grom and a Z125 to finish) Man I need a couple extra days in the week! I will have to check out the new Honda. - Van
Possible simpleton question as I am brand new to riding, but you are disconnecting the battery before doing any wire work/removal, and then obviously reconnecting to test everything after correct?
I got this Yoshimura fender eliminator and the turn signal relay failed after 2 weeks. After another 2 weeks of phone calls, I FINALLY got a replacement relay from Yoshi. The turn signals aren't super bright either. If I had do it over again, I'd get a different kit.
Did you reuse the stock rear turn signals or install a set of aftermarket signals? If you reused the stock signals installing this fender eliminator would not have any affect on the turn signal flasher. - Van
At the end of the day, I don't like the the fact that the turn signal brackets are a part of the plate assembly mounting. One hit to the plate and you have more than just a bent plate.
Check out the New Rage Cycles fender elim for the Ninja 400. Here is a link to it on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/new-rage-cycles-kawasaki-ninja-400-2018-fender-eliminator/
Awesome video...thanks for making it so easy to do at home. I'm looking at getting a Ninja 400 and wanted to install this after getting the bike. I'm definitely not a track guy and was planning on a back roads/sport touring style riding with the Ninja. I was looking at the Zero Gravity sport touring windscreen and wondered if you had any experience with it? Also, since this eliminates a lot of the fender/mudguard, would you recommend something like a Puig fender extension, for my intended riding style? Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide!
The ZG windscreen will get some wind protection for sure. Personally I do not think you will need the fender extension if you leave the rear fender on the bike. - Van
Feel like the keni moto one is just as good and its like a third of the price. 1. slots for the oem turn sigs 2. You reuse the tag light, 3. No cheesy branding is visible. 4. Tucked up close under the tail just like this one. 🤷 I will spend money on quality performance parts, but spending over $100 for a fender elimnator is WILD.
You can get thread locker at any hardware store. We also offer it on our site. Here is a link: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motorcycle-oil-and-chemicals/threadlocker/ - Van
The Yosh and Driven are both more traditional with turn signal stalks. The New Rage and Hotbodies are much sleeker with integrated turn signals. Personally I really like the look of the New Rage kit. www.sportbiketrackgear.com/new-rage-cycles-kawasaki-ninja-400-2018-fender-eliminator/ - Van
If you have a check engine light on the R6 after installing a fender elim kit the only thing that comes to mind would be leaving the exhaust servo motor being unplugged (this is assuming you unplugged it for some reason during the install). Could be a coincidence. - Van
No tools come with the fender kit. That said you will need a couple of t handles (best to buy a set that spans from 3mm to 10mm), along with a few other basic hand tools. If you plan to work on your own bike I would pick up a nice metric tool kit from Home Depot etc... - Van
What about the reflectors on the OEM rear fender? Many jurisdictions require them and it is illegal to not have them is equipped. You would think someone would have come up with a plate light connector to avoid splicing wires. $130?! Are you nuts? There's about $10 in material cost. I'll give them $10 for overhead, $10 for advertising and your up to $30. Throw in a $20 spot for "gee-wiz profit" and its up to $50. Over priced. Being new to "the bike scene" it sure seems like all the companies are out to gouge customers out of their hard earned cash. So sad.
There is not as much profit in this as you might think. Yoshimura manufactures these here in the US which adds some cost. I can assure you no one in this industry is getting rich. - Van

@Gerald Forest wtf
@Aldo Critchfield wtf
My light didn't work. I've installed one before and that worked fine.
Double check your work to make sure this is not a bad connection. We do not really see any bad bulbs with these kits. - Van
I’m afraid Vagabond is the way to go if you’re keeping your stock lights. One solid piece , very comprehensive install videos 👍

You do not need to disconnect the battery for this fender eliminator kit install. There is no power to these lights with the key off. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thank you very much sir. Looking forward to my next visit to the store!

What wire cutters are u using? Also do I need to install the license plate light?
I am using side cutters you could find at any hardware store. - Van
Do you have to shorten the wires? Can't you just leave them stock length and bundle them up like you did that one long one at the end?
You can leave the stock length and hide them in the tail if you like. - Van
Where can I get those clear tubes & micro torch that you used?
I picked up the torch and solder tubes at a local hardware store. - Van

@sportbiketrackgear never heard of em until recently either and I'm saying for the price the quality is right there with the $100+ options.

It is designed to fit US plates. If the dimensions of your plate are different it will not fit. - Van
