Thank you for the valuable info, and in case anyone wants to know about propagating the ZZ plant I actually tried it myself with a single leaf and it worked successfully, it took about 4 to 5 weeks in water to show roots so you have to be patient as long as it's still green keep waiting
Thank you! I am new to plants & just bought two ZZ plants from Walmart but the rhizomes were exposed. I thought the plant company simply didn't put enough soil in the pot or the plant needed to be repotted, but your video helped me understand that the rhizomes should not be fully covered. Now I feel a sigh of relief. Thanks for the video!
I love this kind of plant. I do not have the Raven kind . Mine is huge and is breaking out of the pot so I will divide it. I do need to change the soul for succulent soil. Thnks for the video
This is giving me the confidence to try to split my raven, she's growing so fast I'm afraid the pot won't hold the whole thing anymore and I thought two might be better than one!
I love my raven zz, and since it matured a bit, I am looking up how to propagate / split it, get more🌿🌱🌱, hehe, without shocking it too much. Thanks for the easy vid. Could I use the regular universal potting soil though?
I got super lucky last week, I found a raven for $7 at Lowes in the clearance section 😍 but it was starting to show signs of root rot, so it has been sitting in front of a fan for days to dry the soil out. Also found a FLF for $8, and aloe vera for $1.5, Lowes clearance is always a win!
Thank you for the info. Just bought one of these from Lowes because I thought it was beautiful. It’s my first ZZ plant. And I got a certain one because I felt it was busting out of the pot and I could divide it. Now I know how 😉
I have many Z plants. Big ones in pots. I water it every 1 1/2 month , really heavyI water .then I let it dry again. Next water 1 1/2 month to 2 months. No direct sunlight and way from windows. I started with one plant and now after 6 years I have at least 5 more big one. I am thinking in propagating them , haven’t de died if I will use the water propagation . I almost feel water propagation is by luck when comes to plants that do not to have their feet soaked in water..

Oh my!! That's quite a haul! I need to go check out their clearance section. Fingers crossed your Raven bounces back quickly from the root rot.
Elf? Is that another kind of ZZ?
I love the color of that plant! Division looks like an easy way to propagate it. Thanks for the info!
You bet!

Yay! Congrats on your new ZZ plant! So glad the video was helpful!
Such a beautiful ZZ!! Thank you for showing how to divide it. My plant just sprouted a new stem - it’s so exciting! 😁
Again, thank you for sharing! 💜
Yay for new stems!! This time of year is my favorite, plants just growing away all summer long.

Mine is not fully black I’m so disappointed, is there anyway I can make its black showed ?
Wow I have been eyeing for this plant for a long time just can't find a cheaper one
Hope you are able to find one! They are really neat plants
I’ve been seeing them at home depot for 15❤
U n plants both are vry beautiful
Thank you so much! Very kind of you
Does it something to do with light that’s why it’s black ?
I was trying to figure out the rhizomes and how big a pot would be needed for repotting. Thanks! Just cancelled my Amazon order for X-ray glasses 🤓
Sometimes it just helps to get a visual 😀 Hope that helped solve the rhizome mystery!
Please share soil mix and the water part mam
Must the rhizomes be above the soil ? It was originally in a smaller pot and I didn’t see the rhizomes
They don't have to above the soil, usually they sit just below the soil surface.
@@thecontentedplant7057 thank you
