- The Unforgiven is a Pearlescent rarity Jakobs pistol that is available most commonly in Digistruct Peak from OMGWTH, or the Binary Boss.
Compared to a normal Jakobs barreled Jakobs pistol, it has increased damage and critical hit modifiers, but it has a much lower fire rate. The weapon also has increased recoil and possibly weapon sway. Without the patch, the weapon is viable, but it is outclassed by most other options.
With the patch, the gun gains additional Damage and a much higher fire rate. After the patch, the gun can at least out speed Jakobs snipers, which is a huge improvement for the weapon and it allows the pistol to not be completely outclassed by snipers.
With Zer0, snipers are still always going to be stronger, but that doesn't mean that the Unforgiven sucks. It's definitely powerful enough to warrant its use, and it's a lot more fun to use now that its fire rate isn't atrocious.
The gun definitely no longer sucks. Happy to have found one on my farming character.

I hope in borderlands 3 they handle the idea of powerful yet slow weapons a lot better than in 2.
LesserKnown i'd like to see a patch option which gives you an unforgiven with low fire rate and high reload, but gives a scope and uses up the whole mag for a massive damage shot. That'd put it in line with snipers and make a great backup for sniper Zer0

The Skin on the unpatched version is actually the same as the purple Iron without the gemstone skin.
Kurt Cobain Yeah I'm pretty sure that all pearlescent weapons, except the Butcher, have the same skin as their purple versions.
Bekah, Carnage, Wanderlust and Godfinger have their own skins. So, all the ones that got added with the UVH-2 pack.

In a way, I do like the idea of the Unforgiven essentially being like how revolvers were in Borderlands 1. A slow firing but hard hitting weapon that is essentially a pocket sniper rifle in the terms of how it functions.

If there are pearlescent weapons in BL3 I hope they balance it so that they are typically better than the lower rarities when used correctly

I love Luke's way of methodically talking through and demonstrating all the parts, damage numbers, comparisons, etc. It's extremely clean and professional.
Needless to say, the Unforgiven has become a much more potent tool with the community patch. I will withhold my delighted reaction to the Avenger, but promise that it's worth the wait.
The community patch card says a damage boost of 50% but in actuality it's only 10%. It SHOULD be 50. It needed it being a hand cannon. The new skin is great though

Buffs aside, I love the skins that the patch gives to certain guns. Tells you how awesome the Borderlands community is.
It takes a bit of getting used to, but mouse wheel down for your shooting button pairs well with "fires as fast as you can pull the trigger".

As an active demonite watcher i would just like to say vinylic puma always plays as sal and uses the grog nozzle so he is pretty bad at the game if he cant make a decent gun work
The skin on the unforgiven now is just absolutely beautiful OwO But even with the buffs it still feels off like it's decent as a pearl which is more rare then a legendary it should be better maybe if it was more like the Maggie (the legendary jakobs pistol i always felt should have been the comparison to) with the "shotgun" multiplier it would be better.

It doesn’t suck I’ve tested it on axton,maya,gaige, criege and it’s sucks on them but with sal it’s ok and zero it performs as it should

Half-a-year after i realised it because of depth of field turned off.
The fact that the first batch of pearls didn't have any kind of special skins kinda sucked ass.
You didn't knock off H3RL-E's arm at 25:13 because you didn't hit the crit spot, you were aiming to the right of it and hit the joint.
Can you take a look at the patched Law and Order combo on a Melee Zero?
Might have been an idea to compare it to the Maggie. Both performance and the skin. They're remarkably similar.

I hope they mix it up well, one reason TPS feels to me like merely new content is because it practically returns 90% of the previous weapon cast. That's a whole vein of potential new content shut :(

I used Unforgiven with UCP, and it actually wasn't bad.
The new skin for the Unforgiven reminds me of the skin for the Maggie on pre sequel. Could be wrong
The Maggie has the same skin in TPS that it does in BL2. You're just used to seeing it covered in Luneshine.
Base game unforgiven is a purple rarity skin. The patch version showcased here is similar to the maggie, but is teal instead of pink

Hey MoLMF, I think the Washburn refinery is a bad place to test the Unforgiven due to loader enemies having extra resistance to physical damage, perhaps a side run through Thousand Cuts would also be good for physical type weapons.
But Jakobs are all about crits, which are far easier to get on loaders than bandits.
blahthebiste but loaders also have ridiculous resistances on those crits.
Crit resistance + damage resistance is still not enough to make the damage less than a non-crit, not even close.
Non-elemental weapons also deal comparatively more damage to compensate for those resistances.
Snipers are almost objectively more effective on Loaders simply due to how much easier it is to crit them. That said, if you can consistently headshot human enemies, even while they are moving or rolling or hiding behind cover, then we'll talk.
Man, I really wish there was a level cap during normal mode and true/ultimate vault hunter mode. Becuase I just want to play tvhm and fuck around with some fun weapons, uvhm doesnt allow that nearly as much. Plus it would let you play every dlc without being overleveled during tvhm and normal.
I honestly believe that normal mode should stop giving exp when a player hits level 30, and that TVHM should stop giving exp at level 50.
That way, if for whatever reason, a player wants to stay at level or 30 or 50 forever, they are given that option.

Woulda been neat if they gave it an ADS effect where it homes in on crit spots like Nisha. The Unforgiven just feels boring for a pearl...

You can buff it yourself bye using zerO since he an increase critical hit damage and using a high fire rate class mod and a sheriff badge and using badass rank will help too if you done all those things its stupidly op not capping.

Well... The Muckamuck may be a bit better but onthe other hand it's not a super significant difference and you get about three times the ammo capacity for pistols that you get for snipers. Apart from that you can boost pistols with the Sheriffs badge whereas you could only get a sniper agression relic for the Muckamuck which is completely random.

That's with Zer0 specifically though.
The Unforgiven was always good. It's an almost-sniper with a much deeper ammo pool to draw from. Glad to see it was made even better, of course, but the notion that it was ever bad is just another example of some folks not understanding the bigger picture of the game.
Put it in Maya's hands with Reaper/Subseq and you can clear a lot of mobs at once. If you don't suck at aiming, you can even use it with Sal and a Fist/Grog for insane critical hit chicanery.
Also, your trip through Digi-Peak must have inspired this given your essentially perfect Unforgiven drop the first run.
For a moment I thought he used his 'perfect' Unforgiven from the run here, but I think that one had a Dahl scope, iirc. Still, he got a perfect Unforgiven there. Not what he was looking for, but still..heh!
The problem people have with it is that it's a pearlescent, one of the rarest weapons in the game and yet it's inferior to purple and even some blue weapons in terms of usefulness
Cancer-kun I think that can be attributed to thinking rarity is equal to power. It should make sense and I agree, but the fact there are blue uniques that exist as some of the best gear in the game (Twister, Sandhawk, Pimpernel, Lady Fist, Grog/Rubi to name a few) should have maybe broken players of the idea that rarity=power.
I'm no better or worse than anyone else, mind you, but it's a trope in gaming that rare=power and in Borderlands, that isn't always true.

Because the Unforgiven Failed at Being a Proper Hand Cannon in BL2 I Believe the Luck Cannon Was Created in BLTPS To Compensate for that
Yeah but you can get 3 acurate shots off with unforgiven too every one shot with most sniper rifles and thats low balling so overall you can do more damage

Glad to see this get done. It's definitely more of a zero weapon, as it still kicks like a bitch on characters without recoil mitigation. Should give binary a try.
I think a Stalker(?) COM might help it out, since if I'm remembering this right, it boosts pistol damage and fire rate. If I got the COM wrong, my apologies.
