  • Every streamer with a facecam needs to have good lighting, and Elgato just made achieving that so much easier and more affordable with the Elgato Key Light.
CORRECTION: This light is $199. That is a bigger jump than what I quoted, apologies.

That is a bigger jump than what I quoted, apologies. $200 is a bigger ask and much more expensive than $130 - BUT it is still cheaper than its direct competitors for similar lights, with much better streamer-focused functionality. Second, the little spring loaded button on the handle of the desk arm, allows you to move the handle back in so you don’t hit the wall when you screw it down tight. :) kind of like a ratcheting mechanism.

Thanks for the nice review... the first thing anywhere I've found that really shows the mounting hardware in detail. I've got a 2x2 screen setup and was worried that I might have to dork around with the mounting hardware to make it work... but looks like the only issue I might have is the length of the power cord (how long is it?). I've had the Stream Deck for a couple months now... love it. And now looks like Corsair owns the Elgato line, so I hope that acquisition ends up helping them both out.

I think I have a pretty good lighting setup for my stream and I haven’t even bought any lights. I have my main light (just a lamp that I put paper over to soften the lighting) slightly off to the side to create some shadows, light bouncing off the wall right in front of me, and then a lamp in the back for backlighting.

I've always found lighting to be very hard to work with. Glare from my glasses and all. Either into my eye from an off angle light, or a reflection of light or monitor into my camera. Being unable to find a cheap or free solution to this one problem is ultimately why i gave up streaming as a side hobby. I could only really stream in the daytime when ambient light from various windows is good. But work along with other activities that need sunlight proved challenging as well.

meh, too expensive, you can get same or even better results with a Yongnuo yn 300 light and that already has a soft light on it, and it is dual led, and has a CRI 95+, and also you can use it with either the battery pack or a external charger to the wall, it might not have the app feature to control the light, but honestly who would actually change it once it has been correctly set
but i do find the light desk stand really good, hope elgato sells then seperatedly, if the light costed around 150 and had a turnable dial instead of just 2 intensity switches, it would be a very solid option

Hue bulbs are not super color accurate and show very obnoxious refreshing/flickering on-camera at anything but a 1/50 shutter speed. I'd pretty much never recommend using those for video.
And they're just bulbs. So you'd need a light socket, light stand, diffusion material, etc. at that point takes up way more space, costs more, and doesn't get as bright nor look very good.

In my country this light is so @$#$@ expensive it's not even funny man. This light is carrying a huge profit margin if it sells because there are so many better options to come up with.
