Im surprised the beavers didn't put up a wanted poster with his face on it yet. 😂
This is a little place I've been going for a few decades now and the dam has always been in this deteriorating State and the signs that went up is just a form of laziness instead of unclogging the problem. The reason the dam is in a failing state in the first place is because they allow this clog to form overtime and in the winter the high water freezes breaking the dam. If they would just keep up with maintenance the deterioration would have never happened.
Definitely enjoy when U do the split screen of the progression of the water flow as you unclog the dam
I'm simply blown away by your energy, knowledge, and thoughtfulness.
This is truly some of the best content on this site and definitely what this world needs more of. You are an exceptional human, and it is truly an honor to share the planet with people like you.
Take care of yourself (continue being safe!), and thank you so much for taking the time to share yourself with the world. I wish you nothing but happiness and all the best
You do an excellent public service. There will always be the naysayers and under miners, but you carry on - we need people who are part of the solution, not part of the problem. Greetings from New Zealand.
Hey Post10, great job on that clog. I was wondering if that was silt built up in a cone before the spillway or was that poured concrete? When the water was blasting I didn’t see as much of it go away as I had expected which led me to think it was concrete? Will you be going back and clearing the debris below the dam this week too? Maybe you should bring a picnic lunch for you and your lady friend? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😉
To be fair, the path could be posted as closed, due to the poor condition of the bridge and the broken concrete.
I like to think of some guy sitting in the backyard enjoying his little creek that runs behind his house. It doesn't flow like it used but then Post 10 comes along, clearing the clog upstream and a torrent of water comes shooting through and he's like WTF?!?
The Kelley's Creek flood video comes to mind...
Well find the guy. Don't break a fingernail...
Well that sounds pretty accurate
Shaking his fist at the sky shouting POST 10!!!!
I thought the same thing!
The beavers are looking at each other scratching their heads asking, “how did he find us??? The man is everywhere !!! “.
Post 10: starts unclogging
Beavers: Ah sh*t, here we go again
In my county, we have many projects like this hiking trail/dam. They were made in the 1930-40's by the WPA and our CCC. Maintenance is our generation's responsibility - not every county has a Post 10. You are a hero to all who love nature - thank you!
Let us appreciate how our dear *post 10* fixed the issue in less time than it took someone to order a sign manufactured for closing the pass. Problem solved by a man of action.
Take notes bureaucrats~📜
To be fair, the problem looks to be a lot worse than just a clog, and Post 10 said so himself: the wooden bridge is rotten and falling apart, and the concrete's deteriorated to the point that the walkway would be risky even if the water wasn't cresting over it.
The whole dam will probably have to be re-done or at the very least heavily refurbished, and that's the kind of effort that takes a minute to manage, especially when you consider the fact that infrastructure country-wide's been deteriorating for years due to neglect and financial issues.
@@LabTech41 even if they want to keep the sign up due to general deterioration of the walkway, they still should have spent 5 minutes to unclog the spillway, to prevent further rapid deterioration.
Sharp-eyed fans of Post 10 were treated to a glimpse of the ever-steady camera operator, Ghost 10, if only as a shadow. Good to have someone nearby in case that monstrous flow caught you up! Another superb video!
Damn youuuu! I thought I was special lol
That's a she... I think that's his GF or Sister I guess.. :)
@@jhrdailies in some places, that’s the same person. Lol
I was wondering in another video why he kept saying “we” and “us”.
Now I know! Lol
YUPS!!!
You’re absolutely correct, it took someone more time to print and laminate those signs than it took to clear the clog. Just another example of a jobsworth! Well done Post10 for saving the day.
I mean even after the water dropped it really didn't look safe to travel on
"Courier, Gothic or Helvetica for the signs?"
"One color or two?"
Decisions can take hours... 😜
@@burg0110 Allowing a dam to be overtopped is far more dangerous because if the dam fails due to being overtopped, then you are going to have an increase in flow no matter what.
Why work?
When you have a government job and government pension .
You might hurt your back or slip and need a year off with pay
I am guessing this is only a temporary fix if the problem is beavers creating the dam.
Wow. You really are a hero. No joke. Workers just put up a sign but you go out and do something about. This world needs more people like you. Thanks for your efforts. 😊
That level drop was satisfying to watch, Post. Thanks.

I’ve watched a number of your videos and have to say that you’d make a great science/environmental science teacher. Kids could learn so much by going out and learning about beavers, their dams, and how everything works.

Holy crap I thought you were going to be washed under that little bridge at one point! The current kept getting stronger and stronger - That was an excellent bring-it-back to the level it belongs, episode.
Yes, put a sign up and do nothing about! Good hearted people like Post! Will do it for ya! Much love! I recently had surgery on my ankle. 2 screws and plates. Stumbled upon this channel. Really helps me get away from stress and depression.
"This bridge even feels dangerous walking on it."

What's amazing to me is that he doesn't sit around waiting to be told to do something or asking if he can do it. Just does it! Thanks POST 10!
14:29, exactly what I was asking! Post 10, that worker spent way more time putting both those signs together and mounted them than it would have taken him/her to simply unclog the dam.
2SiccAudio; water to wet and cold to do that. Easier to make a sign, not boots on hand for worker would be my guess.
Bridge and sidewalk condition too
I've been sick with the flu and discovered this channel - you've somehow kept me mesmerized for hours Good stuff.
The louder the water blasted, the more I wanted to close my eyes.. So soothing to listen to..
Well done post..🙂👌
Tell the adds come on lol 😂🤣🤣 i
When I was a kid, the coolest playgrounds were the ones with waterpumps, where you could make tiny rivers, dams and so on and watch the water flow after it overcame an obstruction.
I think these videos tap into that childhood joy.
Also, that area seems rather beautiful! Good job making it accessible for people again!
I've been watching for over a year now, I think this is my favourite video so far. Great job. I would be fascinated to know how many staff it took to make the decision to design, produce and erect the signs.
Probably more than it would have taken to say "Dave and Jim, go unclog the dam/bridge on trail number whatever!"
I wondered if it was a resident that did it, as it was pretty low tech and there wasn’t any safety tape across the bridge. In my town they would have used safety tape and cones and maybe a big safety sign.
Was thinking the same. As those in charge prefer to have machines do the work instead of "risk" a worker getting a back injury or swept away, image if an excavator or back hoe lifted that bridge out of the way and then took out the clog and put the bridge back. How long would it take even an averagely skilled driver to do this. About the same time it took to erect that sign. Would the dam be in better shape if those in charge of it hadn't waited for Mr 10 to do the job for them. Post 10 needs to get paid for what he does. How much is being paid to those supposed to be doing the job.
How dare you suggest work be done without a 90-day public comment period, bid acceptance and review, ballot proposition drafting…
They have to take it to the congress and must win majority of votes before they can put the post up.
The sound of the running water and the sun sparkling on the water makes for a soothing experience. Calming and chill.
that was cool . when you first started i dint even think it was a dam . dint look like there was anything there like that . after i could not beleave how much room was under that bridge . i will say i was a little worried about your safety . that was alot of flow . great job was very fun to watch . best wishes to you and ghost ten .
This might be one of the coolest names on YT. lol!
You should have a Post 10 sticker or something to mark your outstanding work!! 💕 You have a Blast in Kansas!! 😁
Ghost10 is a perfect name for your friend like the other comment suggested! I'm so happy you found someone that enjoys doing what you love too. I'm rooting for you :)
Us too! (Me & my family) ;)
He's a lucky young man, I agree! 😃 It's important to have at least *some* overlap in interests with one's partner! 🙂
the closure could also be because of the condition of the cement and the wooden structure over over the dam. they MAY come and fix it in a couple years or so. lol
Good work Post!
Great job Post 10! I think I would have a hard time leaving that spot, the view is magnificent! No wonder the beavers built their home there, so would I!!! 👍🏻
I can always enjoy experiencing the unclogging of waterways.

Mrs. 10? :)
It’s incredible how quickly the water level drops after Post 10 does his magic.
What a satisfying unclog. Love a powerful downstream flow and this is one of the best!
I agree! This is one of my top 3 favorites!
When I was a kid, we had a very small stream that ran through the farm. During the drought days, it still trickled like a creek. But sometimes, we'd walk up the hill and it would be blocked and we'd unblock it and the water ran smoothly again. It came down the mountain and ran into a culvert and across and down the property until it met our farm. So when it was unblocked we had nice clean water to use for the garden. I'm surprised that more people don't go out and unclog these. Just as he did in this video. Don't they wonder why their water has slowed down or stopped? When I saw that water gush, wow. That's water power.
The people are absolutely delighted with what you have done here in clearing this beaver dam. This is a very interesting video presentation and we were especially impressed at how powerful that water outlet is. One wonders why the authorities do not use it to generate electricity, this would help towards the payment towards the trail upkeep. We know that the hikers will be very appreciative of the work that you have done here.
There is no steady influx of water to the pond. Not a chance it would generate any electricity worth enough to put instalation there.
@@j3sion Thank you for that information, it is appreciated.
There is nothing around there. What would it power? The cost to put a generator there and run a line out would be prohibitive.
the only people that would do this is you the other workers dont think like you do and unclog mda,s with their bare hands and wellies full of water thank you i loved this xxxxdebbioe from uk xxxx
Mrs 10 is a godamn gimbal, no human can hold that steady 😁👍

Another excellent job Postie. Beavers are gonna be pissed again. Love the sound of running water. Bridge is pretty sketchy. Thanks for the fun and the defying of the braves and you guys stay safe now.
One of the most satisfying uncloggings. That flow looked pretty powerful, wouldn't want to slip in there.
Post does the work of an entire DOT crew
Not a lot of people can say they leave the world a better place each day but post10 can. We all need to find a way to improve our own communities in the spirit of post10.
that looked like fun... that was a huge flow... keeping the beavers busy post 10
You've been on a roll this past week. Loving it ❣️
Somebody from MDOT is gonna arrive tomorrow to fix that only to find that it magically fixed itself! They'll be able to enjoy a day sitting inside the truck listening to podcasts thanks to your hard work. haha
Thank God it's not the mass dot's responsibility
@@post.10 That situation says to me "budget cuts" - someone decided that it's cheaper to post signs telling people not to use the trail across the dam, than to attempt any type of maintenance or upkeep. The shape that bridge was in, says it's been some time since they even bothered with the basics.
Exactly! Contact Mass DCR.
Is it even MA? Ir is it NH or ME? He goes all over
Or whoever was supposed to clear this clog will sit and watch post-10 video unclogging yesterday what they were supposed to do today.
Post you should get an award for all you do. Honestly, you're like on community volunteer that travels four states in the surrounding area to make nature more compatible for wildlife and humans to co exist. It's a real shame that those in charge of that trail would rather close a trail area. Than clean it up so it remains passable. In this world and time. Sometimes getting into a wildlife area just for a hike. Can help alleviate the stress and pressure of how we're living in this world of today. Awesome video and always relaxing to hear the sound of water returning to it's natural flow and how it was intended to be. Most beautiful area. 🦫🪵🦫🪵🦫👍♥️
Do some research on how beavers are a keystone species
By destroying their habitat and not allowing them to make dams, we destroy the deep water reserves the beavers 🦫 make
There are other ways to coexist with beavers
Maybe building trails in other ways or other places
What’s more important? Water reserves or a nice day hiking?
Take care of yourself my friend, I know that you are making a great effort and your situation is in danger. I am Nabil your friend from Algeria
I have always enjoyed these uncloggings. Thank you Post 10.

I had my doubts in the beginning of you clearing that beaver dam, but you proved me wrong. It is so nice of you to clear beaver dams and culverts. I very much appreciate and enjoy watching you go to work. I don’t know how to swim so that bridge looks very sketchy and I would not walk on it. 👏🏼🙏🏼🌟🌹😊
Do you live somewhere with not so much water? 🙂
I do know how to swim and I have good balance, but the bridge still looks dubious to me. To my mind, you shouldn't be able to just lift a bridge 😆
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. You are funny sometimes too without knowing it. I can watch your content for hours! Thank you for all that you do.
That's some very good camera footage there Ghost 10, I for one am happy knowing that Post 10 has someone watching out for him when he's out doing these videos, you know, just in case he should happen to have a mishap and needs to go to the hospital or something you know, thanks for being a friend to all us Ghost, perhaps one day you'll let us see you in full view instead of behind the camera lol, Post, you got yourself a real good keeper there, don't let her slip away dude, I loved seeing your boots in the crystal clear water using your feet as a rake to help drop the water level, that was awesome,

Good job young man :) You have become quite the expert ,not only in unclogging things, but also spotting if beavers are in the area causing havoc as usual.
Someone should really pay Post10 for doing this work. He could show these videos to the authorities, who are responsible for the maintenance of these places, and he could literally be compensated for his work. Because he is doing the work that other people are paid to do, but they wont do it. Those lazy people. There is a lot of unclogging to be done in this world.
