Glad it seems to have came around with that muffler👍🏻 Sometimes, some muff mods and pipes are just too much on the ears, but often the improvements are worth it!
I say it is worth it! I don't have to do every saw I own so I can have a more docile experience. well.... I guess I do have electric for some of that though.
Glad your 562 is finally working for you. My 550 after it was ported and had a muffler mod runs pretty cool and always hot starts. Keep up the good videos.
Thank you buddy! I hope you are well and always am thankful for you being here. I can see why someone would love these saws even more once they are running like this. They are good stock but really come to life with a slight mod!
👍👍 nothing wrong with hot dogs! Yummy. Regarding muffler noise- I found through my limited experience that piped outlet mufflers have a different tone than deflectors and seem “ more pleasant “ to the ears. I tend to think the noise is not being reflected off the wood. I also found, to a degree, the larger the pipe, the lower the tone and again, less ear bleeds. Discovered that, to the extreme with the cheap menards saw. The exhaust pipe size is absurd, very pleasant to run.
Very interesting CF.... something to explore for sure. I have noticed that some of the saws the buckin runs as he changes between all of the funky pipes, the sound changes so much!
I prefer the conduit pipe outlets for this reason too, just not as damn LOUD!! down side is mud wasps etc could have a strait shot in if they chose to, but most of mine are kept cased and in garage when not in use.
I am so jealous of you with that saw. You are a lucky man. With the extra db of noise front that exhaust, you will go deaf sooner and enjoy your older years. You won’t have to listen to your better half complaining about you!! Keep them coming and enjoy.
After seeing all these videos of the 562’s that are out there, I’m happier than ever about buying the one that I have. I really haven’t had too much of a chance to run it lately though. It’s been hot and humid out here in NC lately and I have had a rather large honey do list on the house that we’ve bought. Hopefully I can get back on it sooner than later. One reason that I got it was that here in the southeastern part of the state, we’re overdue for a hurricane to hit hard. The last really big one to hit was about 29 years ago and it took me 4 1/2 hours to make a trip that normally took about an hour and 15. Every road leading out of town had trees down across the road. I had to make the trip to go to my dad’s and grab saws. It’s times like those that make you say”I won’t ever be caught like this again.” We’re in decent shape at the moment. We’ll be able to get through most stuff that may be between here and there. 😉. Glad that the saw has done well for you and Ian going to do a muffler mod on my Mk2 hopefully this week. Much love to you Oakie and may you and your family continue the be blessed and safe. Be careful out there🤙🤙
Thank you so much! We are certainly blessed indeed! That is a crazy story to have to be able to cut yourself a path from the Hurricane. That would certainly be a HUGE motivator to get the saw up and running. Just a side note, if you are going to use the saw in an emergency type scenario, often times you may not have the proper ear protection and others around you may not. This saw actually hurts the ears. I don't say that about much but, it certainly is not just loud, it is ear piercing. I can handle a stock 562 pretty easily for a bit no problem but this saw certainly is screaming loud now.
The first thing I do on every 5 series saw I’ve had is a muffle mod of some sort. Either gutting out the internals or adding a pipe and always notice better operation. Not necessarily performance but just ease of use is better!
I believe you were one of the ones that "told me so" from the get go. hahahaah.... I am a believer now man! Thank you for watching and taking the time to share.
Love em loud! Ear plugs probably isn't the best for hearing protection. I just like the performance! Funny how people think porting a saw lessens the life of said saw but thats just not true! Guys that use them falling trees 8 hrs a day proves that! Good stuff see ya next time!
I'll sometimes double up with ear plugs and the earmuffs. I've done that in a tractor where the sound-reducing cab got messed up (something happened to it when loader attachments were added).
Thank you Ted. I think there are those that just look at the chainsaw as strictly a tool like a car is just transportation. I see them both as tools and toys. I am very particular about how thing operate and feel. Thank you again Ted!
With the heat we've been having in Oklahoma recently, I wouldn't be surprised if the saw vapor locked on a hot start where it's been sitting for a few minutes. I ran into that with my lawnmower yesterday and had to push it into the shade for a few minutes.
@zeromark202 That doesn't work on my mower. It has one of those float valve setups and the gas in the valve evaporated while it was sitting in the sun while I was getting a drink before moving to the front yard.
Great setup just need a 28 or 32 inch bar. I have a 572xp with a steadfast pipe and the west coast intake kit on a 32 inch bar and it rips. My buddy has the same saw but ported by buxton saw works and mine has more power in the top end just a little less torque. These new husky saws run better with the rakers higher. Keeps them in the sweet spot. Love you videos brotha
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I actually do have 28 and 32 inch bars. I like the 562 with a 24 inch light bar the most. I leave my 28 and larger bars for my 70 and 90 cc sauce. I think the anti-vibe is too weak on the 562 and the powerhead is too small for a standard weight 28 inch or greater bar. This is super fun to run for sure.!
Ported saws aren’t for everyone, they are for the people who have ran saws and want something lighter with more power but also understand the limitations of ported saws
I really like em but a good muffler modded saw is also quite satisfying when it is like this. I would not both porting a 562XP however. I would do a 572XP in a heartbeat though!
I helped my buddy mod the muffler on his 562, it's the same way now, it runs great but it's too loud. People complain about it but not our other muffler modded saws, the 562 has a different pitch to it that hurts the ears.
Thank you BT! I LOVE RUNNING THIS SAW NOW! It is plus that it is working flawlessly and I didn't realize how much I was bothered by the fast idle situation. The saw pops to life much better now for sure.
ya... it just felt wrong. I recently had a fuel pump failing on my 2000 S-10. It was weak forever. I essentially trained myself to turn the ignition on and off a couple times so it would start easily. That is what the 562XP was like from the factory. Needless fiddling that didn't feel right!
Increased flow of the muffler will for sure help with your heat soak... I've also done a few other mods that help with this- message me some time if you want some ideas
Thank you sir! I know about some foil tape between the cylinder and carb. As of right now, this thing is killing it for a stock saw. I just love how Husqvarna saws sound!
With the good, comes the bad. Yes they are LOUD. However a simple push pull click click muffler swap out is the most economical way to boost performance. Porting ain't cheap. Put a.ported saw in a newbie hands, detonation soon to follow. 550xp for example, pretty much a ported saw from the factory. 4 HP at 10,200 rpm. 50cc. Run it dull, I've seen melted pistons.
You Make some great points! I find that the for me, the sound really is not an issue because I generally always run a saw with ear protection. Since I do not climb much, especially with a saw like this, I am not too concerned about the noise. In fact, I find, it make me want to run it even more! I have not run a 550XP yet but definitely love my 545. It is the reason I ended up with this 562XP. Thank you for watching and commenting
Invest in better hearing protection. We use proto helmets at work even my ported 395 isn't too loud. You only get one set of ears your protection budget should be relative to your saw budget. Pro saws = pro hearing protection
That makes a lot of sense! The Pro Saws = Pro Hearing Protection. In the tree, I just do not have the stuff not can justify it at the moment. Maybe that means that I will need to stay out of the tree a bit more or take my more docile 545 saw with me..... but I sense a muffler mod coming on that too...... hmmmmm
I would recommend dealing with the website www.firewoodprosizer.com/ Shipping and support is very excellent. Also, all that wood on there was quite heavy. I couldn't believe the load it was on the way home. Of Course, nothing like the loads you pulled today!

With vapor lock try cracking the fuel cap and see if it hisses, it will release pressure especially if piece of equipment was used in direct sun.
