i love that you used a unique piece as a hutch in your dining room...so creative. i painted a vintage sideboard with white chalk paint but now thinking of BMoore Simply White which has a beautiful shine... compared to my distressed dining table...you made me think! thanks!

I love your dining room so much!! I'm also loving the stories about the pieces in your house -- we do love all of our pieces to have a story that really means something to us. I was really drawn to the finish on the lamp on your banquet, but you didn't mention it. Did you do that yourself? Is your banquet Jacobean in style? It's gorgeous!!! And I love your dining table, too. 😍 Did you strip the top? Thanks for introducing us to Edith--she's so precious. Right now Brian is napping at my feet--as someone else mentioned, we do love our furbabies. I was really thinking about the podcast on Friday and thinking about using edible gold or silver paint or even gold dust powder with a stencil for monograms. There are so many vendors on eBay selling edible paint or powder of all colors and metallics. Some is even real gold and not that expensive because of the small amounts needed. So much fun to be had!
Hi - so sorry for my delayed response! I was hiking in the PNW with a group of my friends last week and now I am at the Round Top Antique show in Texas for my shop. Wifi was/is sketchy both places. Thanks so much - and now to answer your questions: The lamp is silver leafed and I bought it like that years ago. Banquet is German. Dining table from the Girl Scout yard sale came like that! Give Brian a scratch behind the ear for me! Edith says thank you!

I've gotten the criticism of too many brown tones in my home. How do yo feel about that?
Hi there! How do I feel about brown tones and/or how do I feel about people criticizing you for it. Let me take these out of order. I think the criticism is unnecessary and depending on how it is delivered borders on rude. It is YOUR house after all!! Some people don't like that I painted all my wood work white. But, you know what, I LOVE it!! Ok, now onto brown tones. If you are talking about mixing lots of wood tones, not all wood tones play well together that is true. If it is brown decor and YOU feel it is too much brown work in creams & maybe even a pop color. Without more info and/or photos it is hard to say exactly what is going on, but I hope this helps a bit! Thanks for coming by!
@@MySoulfulHome thanks for your reply and feedback. Everything in my home was brown because I hadnt really been thinking about the overall impact at the time. I took a real look and my home was indeed a sea of brown toned furniture, and though the pieces were quality there was indeed way too much brown. I am told its a design no no. I am drawn to that color scheme organically so I kept it, but a did add some color to relieve that somberness. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
A pair is a candelabra and one is a candelabrum. You referred to the one as a candelabra in fact it's a candelabrum. designang
