While I would never change a thing in Dimes house, it must be hard for Rita seeing his face on every wall. Sad. Thanks Rita, for being an excellent caretaker of history.
Growing up in Texas, a lot of people feel ashamed because people think we ride horses everywhere and and talk like uneducated hicks. These guys came into my life at just the right time and made me feel proud of where I'm from. It was awesome because they were from DFW too and helped shape a genre of music and still were Texan to the core. After Pantera, I was always proud to be a Texan!
Dude, im not from Texas but Stevie Ray is the greatest blues player of all time and Dime kept wining guitar player of the year , you Texans play a mean guitar man, Eric Johnson, Johnny Winter, Freddie King, dam right you should be proud,
He came to Rock..... And Rocked like no other With a heart twice the size of Texas our beloved brother, companion, mentor idol and friend.... We love you Dime.... Until we meet again Thanks Dime for touching the lives of some many! Your legacy will live on forever! RIP my brother of metal!
I've waited years to see a video like this. All I'd ever seen prior were like split-second clips to catch a glimpse of that cool place. Make a longer version!!
Unreal. It's obviously not been disturbed except for routine maintenance. Still Christmas decorations up (he died on 12/8/2004), an ancient old CRT computer monitor in the studio, and someone signed the wall on the second anniversary of his death, 12/8/2006. Whoever his next of kin is could make a fortune off that stuff, but they'd rather preserve his memory. Good for them. And may the creep who murdered him (I'm not going to dignify him by typing his name) and three others burn in hell.
Dime was such a legend. He had a persona off stage that just lit up so many fans & on stage....forget about it the guy was a 6 string wizard. Like Vinny said he'd stay outside the bus pouring black tooth's and signing autographs for the fans all night and wouldn't leave til the last one left. Anyone who's watched the Pantera home videos knows this guys life was a never ending party and he rocked the shit out of it. He lived & breathed metal and had a presence which filled up every room he was in. Nothing is as fun anymore without Darrell around.
RIP Dime, you were one of a kind, and such a damn huge inspiration to so many people. I hope you're up there rocking out with all your idols downing some whiskey
You know what, Darrell was one of the coolest cats to come out of Texas. I guess stevie ray and I dont know mabeye Joel is too. Yeah, Darrell was from everything i guess your typical kid growing up in Dalllas who wasnt that bad off. Darrell and Vinnie had a good start. Their dad was a country producer, etc, But the only thing those guys wanted to do was play much better than kiss. Its all Darrell used to say im not better than kiss, i just want to play like i am. It must have been kind of hard for Their dad Jerry to deal with at first. Dad probably had some idea in his mind that his sons would be the next Willie or Waylon. But thats not really what either brother wanted at all even though they probably couldnt help but to like those guys at all. They probably liked them a lot. But it wasnt what either one of them wanted to do at all.
Thank you, Guitar World, for this great video. My heart sank watching this as I remembered Dime, Vince and others in those previous videos alive, well and having a great time. When I spoke to Philip (05 Dec., 2014) about the loss of Corey and Dime he said how hard it has been on him. I know that there have been problems with Dime and Phil...and even somewhat between Dime and Rex, but sometimes family problems happen...and then is cleared up after time passes and bad situations are overcome. I, as you all know that drugs to deal with Phil's back, knee and other physical problems from his performances on stage over the years and the band's heavy alcohol got in the way of things in my opinion. Phil has not touched drugs for years except from the doctor and really doesn't drink anymore either. Rex cannot drink at all anymore because of what booze did to him. I think that if Dime were here, he and Vince would probably have open arms as do Rex and Phil and there would be a renewed bond. However, Vince doesn't have his brother to consult with and is going by how Dime felt before he was tragically taken from him and us all. We all know that Dime had a huge heart and I think that all would have been ok and PanterA would have reunited years ago; and we would have seen Dime doing his magic on stage today if that inhuman thing didn't kill him, Jeff (Mayhem) and the others. As you all know, it was NOT Phil's fault that we lost Dime. That '04 December article (written earlier in the year) that took Phil's private conversation with the reporter that was supposed to be off the record and between them, was written without permission and out of context, and had nothing to do with the murders. The inhuman thing was after the brothers long before 08 Dec. '04. Remember, John 'The Kat' said in a video on what happened that the inhuman thing jumped on stage a few months before and tried to get Dime and was restrained, but not before he ruined a bunch of equipment and gear. They decided to let the inhuman thing go, which would be a grave mistake months later. I know that there is a lot more than what I wrote, but didn't want to write a book here. Thanks, Rich
Loved Pantera, loved the vibe they put out. Dimebag will forever be missed by millions. I will forever be grateful, as a guitarist to be influenced by you Mr. Abbott. Thank you for everything you have done. You've made many millions of peoples lives, much, much better. Rest in paradise, friend. Forever, stronger than ALL!
three minutes? wtf? how about several hours if the estate allows? 99.9% of us watching are gear nuts and chase tone just like he did. so we would love to see some crazy unseen stuff. Again, if the estate allows.
Still can’t believe they’re both gone. What a time to grow up in Arlington, before the rise in population. Driving by his house and catching him putting up Christmas lights. Bless the family and their mama ❤️ Good woman!

I truly am grieved and always will be for the way Dime was taken and to know Vinnie suffered like he did missing Dime so hard like he did before going himself.
