It used to be a tradition for me to speedrun this game every Christmas, with the air-conditioner at full blast (because I live in the tropics so that was the closest I could get to winter temperature X'D) Ah memories. :')
@@pouetpouet3684 Glad to know I'm not the only one! :3 As an adult with limited free time now, I still try to at least come back to this video every year during Christmas to listen to the soundtrack in the background while I am working or doing chores. :)
The basic game? Aye, it's just a game. I got fond memories of it, that's about it. The Xmas levels? That's another thing. I do a playthrough every December. Doesn't matter if I carry through beating every level. The Christmas spirit in this DLC, if I can call it that way, is absolutely powerful. It's the last cry of the Xmas shareware content. A curtain call of an era gone by.
Yeah. It always gets me into that christmas mood. When we used to play it with my brother or even my mom even when I was like 6 or 7. Just that little kid who cant wait what hell get for christmas this time. And the family being together at home. Sweet times
This video (audio) is just what I've been waiting for. It really is an excellent group of tracks and I love them. I am 73-years-old and yep I still play "Happyland Adventures"! Some tracks remind me of my childhood but one (unfortunately) reminds of the film "Deliberate Stranger", about Ted Bundy. In the Christmas scene he is playing "The Twelve Days of Christmas" on the piano and for some reason, the Happyland version won't let me think of anything else. I think it must be the electronic tones of both the film and Happylands that create the mental link. Thank you very much, IkranAhiyik! 😊 😊 😊
This game is just appeared in my mind and i remembered for the good, old midi soundtrack so just typed in yt and found my self here! :) I was really not know how to play it properly back then, but sure it was fun. :')
Years ago I found a book of Christmas songs and recognised the same vocal arrangement for Jingle Bells (and possibly others from this suite). This lot sounded really good. With many of the instruments, a standard set of patches will sound fine. But a lot of MIDIs (including mine) use "Choir aahs" for voice parts, which sounded OK back when sound cards played MIDI, but the default sound on MuseScore sounds poor for that purpose. The "doo" sound used here works well. If I had done this conversion, I would have searched long & hard for the right sound for that, but used the standard MuseScore instruments for the rest. This music fitted the game well. The levels took long enough that you'd hear the excellent ending of Twelve days of Christmas. I was part of the Allegro community back in the day - a bunch of amateurs coding games. Johan was one of the leading lights in that community - his games were well-designed and polished compared to the buggy stuff most of us made. Happyland was one of the best games that community produced.
I used to play this game every Christmas :') This game, Charlie II and Turtle Odyssey 1 & 2 were what trained my platformer skills and made platformers one of my favourite game genres of all time. Thanks for uploading the music! :D
Never knew if this specific arrangement of Pachelbel's Canon had a name....I just took to calling it 'Happy Canon' once I converted the wav to MP3 format, back in the day.

Thanks a lot for this great memories !!! i played the game in 2003 when i was 7 YO there is a song missing -the menu theme of the original Happyland Adventure- i think it's "El condor pasa"
haha in fact I've tried to make them in to sheets, but I'm stuck at track 8 since it's too complicated.. and here's tracks 1-3 oops I can't put the link here.. it's now added in the descriptions
I think it's something other. This game is free to get. The songs are also, just grabbed in the Internet, search something like "Christmas songs MIDI", just a random suggestion. At first I don't know anything about this, but by opening some of them by Sibelius, I see the names of sequencers, then searched, I knew nearly everything...
Hey, thanks for putting the soundtrack of this game on a whole video (and adding the replay option lol!) it's really cool! By the way, the sheets are no longer available on mediafire, could you please repost them? :)
thank you for finding this, its been years and I've always wanted to know the person behind this rendition of "Santa Claus is coming to town"... I'd love to have an instrumental version of it too
Well it's because that's not included in the Christmas Edition... Although the game came in a package, the two editions are separated. You have to shut the game before you could switch them, you know. It's a nice tune though, I might do a separate video for it, maybe even a solo arrangement and playing it live... (I'm planning for some tracks here.)
I wish Johan Peitz made a sequel of this game. All those games like Little Big Planet and Sonic Colors were rip-offs of this game. I bet the producers of those games were inspired by this but refuse to acknowledge it.

unfortunately no chance. I wrote to him about it, or HD remake or sth. He sold this game and he cannot do anything. Thats sad :(
NEW: Watch my LIVE version of Chestnuts at ua-cam.com/video/9uK9LkUJZrk/v-deo.html !
Crappy Microsoft soft synth?! The first track sounds much more emotional in OPL3...
happyland advAntures? :D
it cost 2.99 in the Mac App Store... although it does not worth but I paid for it for the memories...
I bought this game in Mac for $2.99 for the memories and songs, unfortunately the songs are different :(
