Very nice. I heard a rumour that it was supposed to be at the show, but the Patek tea-lady misplaced it while she was polishing the CEO's desk. Luckily it was found later in a container with the feather duster. 😐
@@jeanlefranc3817 Rather get a 5270P with green dial. MSRP on this is €187,000 and it's not a highly sought after caliber but you still get a true grand complication.
5:05 I love the caliber, inititally thought that it was a perpetual but it's only an annual. Still very nicely combined with a GMT function. Not too keen on the tarmac dial either though. Edit: Blancpain introduced an annual calendar with GMT function at Baselworld 2016 in a Villeret steel case.
I was looking forward to a view of the 5470p. I can’t buy it, but wanted to see what Sternie Boy is doing with a hi-beat movement. BTW, I think Seiko and Grand Seiko when I think hi-beat, as well as Zenth and Ulysse Nardin. But mostly Seiko. And they are awesome.
Finished watching the entire video. The 5470p is truly impressive. For me, this is a huge step in the right direction for Patek. Upon further thought, I realized why it is appealing. It's Patek's version of the Grand Seiko SBCH281. Patek takes it to an new level, but a strong argument could be made that Patek was inspired by.
The annual calendar/gmt is nice, but it annoys me, that the home marker is blue and not black, when the hand is see through and the dial black. For me home marker refers to the moon phase which makes no sense.
The 5226g tarmac dial looks great, but the specs don't really line up with the sporty looks imo. A steel case with 100m water resistance would suit the watch better than a 30m water resistant white gold case.
1/10th chrono has more than a sprinkle of the Omega Dynamic Chrono from the 90’s. Very different watches I know but with the Breguet numerals and sub dial layout it the first thing I saw.
The annual calendar travel time seems to be performing the same function as Rolex Sky dweller, though the display method and mechanism is different. Should really like to know how they compare in terms of performance.
Ok, I'm italian and probably I'm the last one to ask for the right pronounce of a foreign word like "Jaeger", but... I speak a little German and Jaeger is clearly a german word (it means "hunter" in case somebody doesn't know and it's the extended form of "Jäger") and Edmond Jaeger was born in Alsace, a region with a long history of german influence and in not so rare cases, direct political control. So why are english native language speakers so upset when they hear it like Tom said? I think "Ye-ger" should be more right or at least good as the french one "Je-jè"... no? Oh by the way, great job guys.
It looks like a super luxurious Seagull 1963 and 1962 Plan B Edition!? I wonder if this was intentional, since it is a classic design that many vintage chronographs have.
Other Annual calendar + GMT watches~ Rolex Sky Dweller, Blancpain Villeret & Ulysse Nardin has a GMT Perp. Cal with the 320. That's my extent of knowledge on this complication combo
I like these Patek Philippe watches especially the 1/10th second one which I wonder if I should not buy although I would so much prefer a simple alarm clock complication rather than a chronograph which is not really useful even though it is a highly popular complication…
#2.7👍😤Dad had a Patek. Rediculously over priced snobbery. I sold dad's in the mid 80s. For 18k gold it wasn't much more than super simple manual wind movement. It was very thin but I thought it was ugly.
Forbes published an article a few years ago in which they explained how long it takes Patek Philippe to make such a watch. The owner of Patek Philippe said a basic watch takes a minimum of 4 years, while more complicated ones like tourbillons or minute repeaters take 6 to 8 years, depending on how complicated the watch is. Of course he was referring to the time it takes to develop it from an idea until it's an actual, finished watch. The article then expands on how long it takes to assemble a Patek Philippe watch after the parts have been machined. The most basic models take a few weeks. However, the Grand Complications take an average of nine months, the most complicated watches up to two years (!) for a single master watchmaker to hand finish and assemble.
I think they’re lost with this “youthful” marketing and design. There is such a thing as evolving within one’s own tradition but it’s quite a different thing to hitch oneself to an entirely different aesthetic with which one has no experience - as demonstrated by some of their latest youth oriented designs. These watches look Hamilton cheap to me and if they want a contemporary sports watch they need to put their nose to the grindstone, find the new Gerald Genta and do something original. Last, syringe hands are discomfiting because, well, they look like syringes, and I don’t want to look at syringes when I want to know what time it is. The coined edge works, though.
So apart from being clever or different why might someone want a chronograph than tops out at only 30 minutes but has three seconds hands? Sounds a bit like an F1 car with a sizeable luggage compartment… interesting, but why?
If they want to go after a younger audience they need to come out with a Patek Philippe GeneSwatch....or maybe the Patek Philippe Gene-Shock? Rolex could come out with a competing Rol(Tim)ex

Agreed, and with a spot of tea and a scone with Devonshire cream, it makes for a lovely afternoon respite.

Wasn’t too sure about the newer tarmac dial Calatravas, but this monopusher one tenth of a second chronograph blew my socks off.
You know what else is going to blow your socks off? The 380,000 CHF price tag.

My new favorite watch series. I appreciate you are sophisticated in your observations and tastes, yet completely unpretentious. Keep 'em coming!
The blue 1/10 Chrono is breathtaking. Movement is gorgeous. Best watch this year.
That is the first Patek I actually think I could wear and not feel fraudulent
love your videos. would be very helpful to list the models and time stamps in the description for reference for videos with many models like these.
We’re very time-limited but we’ll certainly try!
also, i want you to narrate my life story when i die lol
The patek dial has been inspired by the textured coating on vintage cameras 📷
It’s not a canvas strap! “Calfskin, embossed with fabric pattern, hand-stitched, black (additional strap).”

The ornate band is there to make it stand out over a distance . Something to notice at a glance and know what you are looking at .
4:17 that’s what I love about it the ripple effect like from an old camera ( as someone said )

At first glance, surprisingly similar to my old Omega dynamic chrono. Must get it serviced!
Great vid as always chaps. Thanks.

I've got the Omega Dynamic, working class version of this, I suppose the PP can be viewed as a tribute to the OD.

PP is killing it lately. Fun and innovative. Playful.
Great video and very relaxing to watch
The 5470P reminds me of the Omega Dynamic
Seiko did it first with the SPB159
Holy smokes. I think you are right.
Instead cutting off the 3,4,7, & 8 indices (aka A. Lange & Sohne), I love how Patek Philippe just deleted them. I despise hacked-off numbers.
