His is a true master, but just for the record, the video description is wrong. He's not sweeping at all there -- he's just doing string skipping tapping, super smoothly. I know the lick myself and it's a bitch to pull off nearly as well as he does, lol ;)

What an amazing video too. Such a beautiful piece and Michael Romeo is definitely one of the guitar gods for it.
The little smile at :56 haha he knows the lick is a bit monotonous by then but he also knows hey, I gotta play this AND it is a cool arpeggio. I mean, at that speed, who could play that picking? MAYBE Gambale. But it'd be more choppy at its very nature with picking every note. This guy took Malmsteen and so many other styles and paid his dues, learned his stuff and he's damn good. I don't remember any of their tunes but that was during the whole "super progressive" phase when Dream Theater morphed from the "just progressive" days of Rush who was birthed by Zep and Yes. Odd that the more technical players are not really known because their licks were not embedded into a hit song.
Heh. Interesting to see you here. I see you are a man of culture. Another guy that probably arrived late and got no major recognition is imo George Bellas.
