It's actually possible to stop the Dawnguard from attacking. You can pick up a quest "Destroying the Dawnguard" from one of the guys at Castle Volkihar, which will put an end to their attacks

Just as a FYI, the listener is not the leader of the Brotherhood, only the Night mother can lead the Dark Brotherhood. And as weird as it sounds, she actually does care for her "children", she makes multiple comments about various member during the games that show this.
The listener is the highest rank in the dark brotherhood, leading the black hand. Even awkward that skyrim made the listener go and kill, instead of just listening and telling the speakers

By this time however they have like 5 guys, half of which are new recruits. When you're getting to the end of the quest keep in mind, the dark brotherhood is a religious order, and the assassins are essentially priests. (Simplified version, but you get the idea)
This works somewhat but only gives you like a few more % on the potion and enchantment side of things capping at 29% for fortify alchemy equipment and something like 67% for fortify enchanting potions. Although I never tried what happened if you are a vampire and have the "all spells are more effective against undead" perk. As this also work on potions you consume and enchantments you have equiped.
In Skyrim it's... good. I mean, it takes effort to entirely break the game. Not like Morrowind where Fortify Intellect potions - increasing the effects of all potions - was key for creating "regenerate all health instantly for RL days" potions. Took about 30 minutes from game start to get to that point if you decided to go that way. In short, crafting in an Elder Scrolls game is practically cheating. And all the more hilarious for it.
Jon, there is an armor set which improves your enchantments - Ahzidal's Armor. It can be obtained through the Unearthed quest in Kolbjorn Barrow on Solstheim. For the effect you will need to acquire the Boots of Waterwalking and three other artifacts of Ahzidal. This will grant you ten extra points to enchanting. Some of the items have some cool effects as well. Combining this armor with Fortify Enchanting potions of the highest level you can make som of the strongest enchantments possible. An incredible use of this is to use the chaos enchantment from Dragonborn on a stalhrim weapon, also from Dragonborn. The chaos enchantment has a 50% chance for *each* element of fire, frost, and lightning to do 25 points of damage. If you also have the destruction perks Augmented Flames, Augmented Frost, and Augmented Shock this even greater. Same also goes for Fire, Frost, and Storm Enchanter perks. These perks also affect the stalhrim weapons natural frost enchantment, which doesn´t take up one of the two enchantment slot. Adding the numbers from the damage of the weapon itself, the natural frost enchantment, all three effects of the chaos enchantments, perk modifiers and other enchantments, you get ... well you can imagen. BTW this isn´t a detailed tutorial, however, you´re headed in the direction, so thought I´d mention this.

Unless the unofficial patch patched it, you can make fortify restoration potions, take off fortify alchemy armor, drink the fortify potions, requip the armor, then make more potions, repeat.

Wild Productions It describes how some energy is always "lost" to some useless form whenever you try do do something out of it (e.g. the energy converted into heat by an engine), so that you can never make a perfectly efficient engine. The conservation of energy is directly related to the first law of thermodynamics, but all the laws of physics, err..., enchantment, are kinda related to each other.
Thermodynamics goes out the window when your body can produce fire, lightning, frost, the ability to heal itself, monsters from hell and ghost weapons. And before you say it's generated from a pool of magicka, might I remind you that magicka regenerates without user input.
There actually is an "Improve Enchanting" enchantment. It's in the Dragonborn DLC and it is gained when you wear the full set of Ahzidal's armor. However, being a set bonus it can't be disenchanted.

The downside of the higher levels of vampirism is that you suffer more serious negative penalties in sunlight and become weaker to fire damage. I believe you take a -15 to health, magicka, and stamina plus a 25% weakness to fire at level one; -30 and 50% at level two; and -45 and 75% at level three.
There are at least 2 other ways to buff your enchanting skill above 100; Dragonborn DLC has a Black Book reward that gives +10%, and also, again in DB DLC, completing and then wearing Azhidals Armour Set will grant a further +10%. You can also gain the Chaos Damage enchantment from the Champions Cudgel which is awesome. (Enchantment not weapon!)
If you've never played Oblivion, Jon maybe now is the time. Most of the quests are more fun than their Skyrim equivalents, including, notable - the Dark Brotherhood questline. Although it wasn't that game the emperor was murdered... well, not by the DB, anyway. Oblivion has also aged much better than, for example Fallout 1.
Jon, there is in fact an enchantment that improves enchantments. It's a glove enchantment. It does however have exponentially less effect with each round of enchanting and most enchantments have caps. I recommend reading the catalogues of armour and weapon enchantments if you haven't yet. They are more than just skill books. I always make sure that I pick up at least 1 copy of each to store in my house. In fact, many books in Skyrim do have uses beyond merely being decoration/increasing your skills. Enchanting and alchemy related books are the most useful but they aren't the only ones. There are also books that help you find certain things. A guide to Whiterun for example tells you about some useful locations. And then there are the books that tell you general tips and tricks. Can't name any of them from the top of my head.

I'm not sure if anyone else in comments mentioned this but Jon before Dawnguard if you reached the max stage of hunger as a vampire you would be enemy number one whereever you went. You couldn't go into any of the cities without the guard and townpeople attacking you. They changed that with Dawnguard where that will only happen if you go into Vampire Lord form while in a town.
It was slightly exasperating when Jon decided to go for the woman first when they were "so far apart", Jon you're a terrible contract assassin to forget the real primary target.
Shrouded hand wraps will let you use the mace for assassinating. Has same effect as gauntlets but no armor and works with ant one handed weapon. super useful.
Yes but he wouldn’t get up to 30x damage with the mace, the only reason he is getting that is the gauntlets do double backstab damage and Jon has a perk that makes *daggers* do 15x damage. I don’t remember exactly what it is but the highest multiplier you can get with a mace is ~18x. (Correct me if I am wrong)
You can get stuck in an endless loop by creating fortify alchemy gear, then fortify enchanting potion, then use that to make stronger fortify alchemy, and so on and eventually make a super strong enchantment or fortify smithing potion.
Potion of fortify restoration, make one, unequip your fortify alchemy gear, drink it, equip gear again, make another potion. Rinse and repeat for a beautiful exploit
On my very first play through of this game I did it on vanilla or no mods at all. I actually somehow made a hammer that did a few million damage. There is a way of Maine ridiculous gear at only level 20. Use alchemy to make better enchantments then use enchantments to make better potions. Then also make a blacksmiths potion to get even more ridiculous.
I was SOOOOO creeped out the first time I played this part with the Night Mother speaking to me in the coffin. Jon seems to forget that some players don’t even touch smithing EVER so “terrible” weapons may seem awesome to others.
Jon - there may be no enchantments that improve enchanting, or potions that improve alchemy, but through the use of potions that improve enchanting, and enchantments that improve alchemy, you can stack them to achieve the infinite improvement loop. This loop is definitely game breaking, to the point where you can cause the game to crash from the numbers getting too high for the engine to calculate.
Jon I think you would really benefit from a mod like SkyUI. It has both a weight to value indicator built in, as well as an indicator for active effect duration which would tell you when you're running out of invisibility and mean you don't have to recast as often. I'm not sure how well it works with controllers though - haven't tried it
Even without the enchantment-enchantment gear, you can make anEnchantment to increase Alchemy, and then a potion to improve Enchantment in an endless loop and get weapons that do thousands of damage. At least you used to be able to, if it wasn't ever patched out.
Your weakness to fire and sunlight increases when you haven't fed. In the sun you have -100% health/stamina/magicka regen and each stat is reduced by a static amount based on how blood-starved you are (from -15 if you've just fed to -60 if you haven't fed for a long time). You can counteract the decrease in regen with items that fortify your regen (which is why your magicka used to regen during the day, but doesn't anymore: you ditched your mana-regen items). I'm not saying that it is better to be well-fed, just saying that there is SOME downsides. Also, some magicka/stamina regen items if you want to regen in the sun.
There is an alchemy improvement loop where you can create very powerful "improve enchantment" potions. The secret is that a potion of fortify restoration also has the side effect to improve the alchemy skill if done right!
Hey john, I'm pretty sure with the ancient falmer crown, you can wear a circlet, I know you can with the falmer crown. another enchantment would be realllllllly handy :P

Oh...yeah, yeah I really hope the next batch of Bethesda games has proper animations. One thing I loved about Fallout 4, it's not perfect but it's great how people actually emote as they talk, even if they end up repeating animations a lot which can be sort of jarring it's better than just standing there motionless like a robot or occasionally moving an arm. There is SO much character lost by not having this stuff, Cicero would have been a much more functional character if he was like one of the Jesters from Final Fantasy IX(I forget their names) Doing over the top ground stamps and stuff when he's angry would have been great but...he just stands there shouting and it's kind of awkward, in a bad way.
About 12 minutes in, you're wondering why Astrid would be jumping to the conclusion that Cicero had to be talking to someone other than just the Night Mother when it's generally a given that he was just rambling to the Night Mother. Here's the thing. The Dark Brotherhood has a very complex and intricate political spectrum that tends to be a bit cutthroat. In the past, there were 4 overall heads of the Dark Brotherhood and they governed by the Five Tenets and got their contracts from the Listener. This represents the 4 fingers of the Black Hand with the Listener as the thumb. In times past, when a Sanctuary was merely rumored to have a traitor in their midst (much less fully abandon the Five Tenets like Astrid lead her sanctuary into doing), the Black Hand would order the cleansing purification of that particular sanctuary, (e.g. they would send their best emissaries of death and stealth to literally kill everyone in that sanctuary and start it over from scratch). That would likely be why Astrid was thinking Cicero had to be talking to someone else instead of the Night Mother. She was scared the purification was coming (not realizing she would cause it with the Legion instead...ironic)
Surely if you can have improve alchemy enchantments and improve enchant potions you can still just create an infiite loop just going back and forth.....?
The improve alchemy enchant is bugged with the "Increase restoration X%" potions so yes you can unfortunately increase your "alchemy increase X%" enchant to infinite heights... that kinda stinks when you want to do this legit...
Can we all appreciate that Cicero's voice actor really went for it.
That's the benefit of having a unique VA and not reusing one of the same 3 guys who collectively voice 99% of the other NPCs lol.

There are at least 2 other ways to buff your enchanting skill above 100; Dragonborn DLC has a Black Book reward that gives +10%, and also, again in DB DLC, completing and then wearing Azhidals Armour Set will grant a further +10%. You can also gain the Chaos Damage enchantment from the Champions Cudgel which is awesome. (Enchantment not weapon!)

For Aura Whisper, the base duration of the shout is ten seconds, and each additional word increases the duration by another ten seconds.
You can have a gear of fortify alchemy, then make a blacksmiths potion, then just loop until you have steel sword that does massive damage.

If you've never played Oblivion, Jon maybe now is the time. Most of the quests are more fun than their Skyrim equivalents, including, notable - the Dark Brotherhood questline. Although it wasn't that game the emperor was murdered... well, not by the DB, anyway. Oblivion has also aged much better than, for example Fallout 1.
Jon, there is in fact an enchantment that improves enchantments. It's a glove enchantment. It does however have exponentially less effect with each round of enchanting and most enchantments have caps. I recommend reading the catalogues of armour and weapon enchantments if you haven't yet. They are more than just skill books. I always make sure that I pick up at least 1 copy of each to store in my house.
In fact, many books in Skyrim do have uses beyond merely being decoration/increasing your skills. Enchanting and alchemy related books are the most useful but they aren't the only ones. There are also books that help you find certain things. A guide to Whiterun for example tells you about some useful locations. And then there are the books that tell you general tips and tricks. Can't name any of them from the top of my head.

I'm not sure if anyone else in comments mentioned this but Jon before Dawnguard if you reached the max stage of hunger as a vampire you would be enemy number one whereever you went. You couldn't go into any of the cities without the guard and townpeople attacking you. They changed that with Dawnguard where that will only happen if you go into Vampire Lord form while in a town.
It was slightly exasperating when Jon decided to go for the woman first when they were "so far apart", Jon you're a terrible contract assassin to forget the real primary target.

Shrouded hand wraps will let you use the mace for assassinating. Has same effect as gauntlets but no armor and works with ant one handed weapon. super useful.
BunoctheWolf doesn't get the extra damage from the sneak perk that daggers do.
Yes but he wouldn’t get up to 30x damage with the mace, the only reason he is getting that is the gauntlets do double backstab damage and Jon has a perk that makes *daggers* do 15x damage. I don’t remember exactly what it is but the highest multiplier you can get with a mace is ~18x. (Correct me if I am wrong)
You can get stuck in an endless loop by creating fortify alchemy gear, then fortify enchanting potion, then use that to make stronger fortify alchemy, and so on and eventually make a super strong enchantment or fortify smithing potion.
Potion of fortify restoration, make one, unequip your fortify alchemy gear, drink it, equip gear again, make another potion. Rinse and repeat for a beautiful exploit
There was totally a book under the bed in the house of the vampire assassination target.
On my very first play through of this game I did it on vanilla or no mods at all. I actually somehow made a hammer that did a few million damage. There is a way of Maine ridiculous gear at only level 20. Use alchemy to make better enchantments then use enchantments to make better potions. Then also make a blacksmiths potion to get even more ridiculous.

I was SOOOOO creeped out the first time I played this part with the Night Mother speaking to me in the coffin. Jon seems to forget that some players don’t even touch smithing EVER so “terrible” weapons may seem awesome to others.

Jon - there may be no enchantments that improve enchanting, or potions that improve alchemy, but through the use of potions that improve enchanting, and enchantments that improve alchemy, you can stack them to achieve the infinite improvement loop. This loop is definitely game breaking, to the point where you can cause the game to crash from the numbers getting too high for the engine to calculate.

Jon I think you would really benefit from a mod like SkyUI. It has both a weight to value indicator built in, as well as an indicator for active effect duration which would tell you when you're running out of invisibility and mean you don't have to recast as often. I'm not sure how well it works with controllers though - haven't tried it
The upgraded versions of Aura Whisper are purely a duration increase. 10sec per word.
Not feeding also raises the weakness to fire i believe
Even without the enchantment-enchantment gear, you can make anEnchantment to increase Alchemy, and then a potion to improve Enchantment in an endless loop and get weapons that do thousands of damage. At least you used to be able to, if it wasn't ever patched out.
Your weakness to fire and sunlight increases when you haven't fed. In the sun you have -100% health/stamina/magicka regen and each stat is reduced by a static amount based on how blood-starved you are (from -15 if you've just fed to -60 if you haven't fed for a long time). You can counteract the decrease in regen with items that fortify your regen (which is why your magicka used to regen during the day, but doesn't anymore: you ditched your mana-regen items).
I'm not saying that it is better to be well-fed, just saying that there is SOME downsides. Also, some magicka/stamina regen items if you want to regen in the sun.

There is an alchemy improvement loop where you can create very powerful "improve enchantment" potions. The secret is that a potion of fortify restoration also has the side effect to improve the alchemy skill if done right!
You didn't need to kill Hert. She sells lumber for your player home, which is by far the easiest way to get it.
Hey john, I'm pretty sure with the ancient falmer crown, you can wear a circlet, I know you can with the falmer crown. another enchantment would be realllllllly handy :P

I'm positive I've made fortify enchantment gear. Did it get removed? I remember Enchantments getting a little glitchy after reload and put it down to me being on PlayStation.

Not sure about this but I think the extra levels of aura whisper just add a bit of distance and duration.
Aura whisper on full is Jon saying ("FFFUUUCCKKK YYYOOUU!!!")
The Dawnguard show up and start attacking one vampire, but the other two vampires there decide to run away and not get involved? No wonder he kills them both ... traitors

One thing I loved about Fallout 4, it's not perfect but it's great how people actually emote as they talk, even if they end up repeating animations a lot which can be sort of jarring it's better than just standing there motionless like a robot or occasionally moving an arm.
There is SO much character lost by not having this stuff, Cicero would have been a much more functional character if he was like one of the Jesters from Final Fantasy IX(I forget their names)
Doing over the top ground stamps and stuff when he's angry would have been great but...he just stands there shouting and it's kind of awkward, in a bad way.
About 12 minutes in, you're wondering why Astrid would be jumping to the conclusion that Cicero had to be talking to someone other than just the Night Mother when it's generally a given that he was just rambling to the Night Mother. Here's the thing. The Dark Brotherhood has a very complex and intricate political spectrum that tends to be a bit cutthroat. In the past, there were 4 overall heads of the Dark Brotherhood and they governed by the Five Tenets and got their contracts from the Listener. This represents the 4 fingers of the Black Hand with the Listener as the thumb. In times past, when a Sanctuary was merely rumored to have a traitor in their midst (much less fully abandon the Five Tenets like Astrid lead her sanctuary into doing), the Black Hand would order the cleansing purification of that particular sanctuary, (e.g. they would send their best emissaries of death and stealth to literally kill everyone in that sanctuary and start it over from scratch). That would likely be why Astrid was thinking Cicero had to be talking to someone else instead of the Night Mother. She was scared the purification was coming (not realizing she would cause it with the Legion instead...ironic)
Surely if you can have improve alchemy enchantments and improve enchant potions you can still just create an infiite loop just going back and forth.....?

The improve alchemy enchant is bugged with the "Increase restoration X%" potions so yes you can unfortunately increase your "alchemy increase X%" enchant to infinite heights... that kinda stinks when you want to do this legit...
