I’ve been using the black box for a while now and I’m just realizing that there is a resampling option 😂 I used a 3.5mm cable from the out of bb to in. Thanks for the videos
Hello. I just figured out that you can also resample without using the cable. Just make sure samples i.e. [(pad(s) / track(s) ]that you want to resample have been previously recorded as a one shot or as a sequence and are active on the sequence page. Once you have that established, choose an empty pad (track) that you want to record the one shot(s) or sequence to and press info to precede to the sampling page for that particular pad. Then select resample for your sampling mode and set your preferred sampling parameters, then press record. The prerecorded shots will play and your pad will capture the sounds that they generate. From there, you do as you would normally, going back to shape and tailor your new sample to your liking. Further, you can use this same technique to internally record a mixdown of a song you may have composed on 1 to 15 other tracks, capturing the mixdown on the one empty track remaining. And since you would be capturing your mixdown in real time, you would also be able to effect the live mixdown with effect, filter, etc. on other tracks being recorded as well as adding more variety to your mixdown using the mute page. Very powerful and very very cool.

I would love to buy this thing so much, but the interface looks off-putting. Also, please consider adding more sound sculpting tools and lfo as a modulation source. I know it's not an Octatrack, but it may be his little cousin 😄 Best of luck to you! 💕

Hey 1010! As a Logic user that hates his NI Maschine... (i.e. too redundant, and cumbersome to integrate within Logic) Why would I consider using the Blackbox to replace the mkII?! I’m sampling from a Radial Preamp connected to my Technics deck, and sampling my own instruments to sequence and layer by chopping/tweaking them into something unrecognizable. Blackbox can still be integrated as an instrument into Logic as well, correct? Congrats on the rad platform... it seems very promising 🤙🏽
hello:) when i set the lenght to custom the playback after recording does not start automatically after ending the recording. with a fixed lenght it does start without retrigger the pad. what i m doing wrong? thanks for any help:)
@@1010music thanks for the swift reply... I was gonna buy an old Akai MPC 2000xl, but I've changed my mind now 😅 awesome device. I would like to see this being used for "braindance" / very choppy breaks and so on, as I cannot find anything on UA-cam, however I am quite sure it is capable of it 👍
Soooooooo, the $24,000 dollar question is....Does the BlackBox resample internally digital to digital...or...is going out the converters and back in again, i.e. digital to analog and analog back to digital???

It is a sampler for the musician and it sounds fantastic recording our own samples or importing other folks samples. The $24,000.00 is what you deserve for designing and building this great musical tool. Too bad me and most musicians are starving artists, money is all gone after buying the BlackBox....sorry :)
Creative tools are personal decisions. What works for one person may not work for another. A combination of the two might be great - but we are biased!
I have both and it's a pretty night and day difference in terms of audio production capabilities and usability. Form factor is a huge reason why people choose dedicated hardware over computers (or iPads). However, the biggest thing Blackbox has going for it is the I/O. It's a tiny device with a ton of very high quality I/O built in. You plug it in and you can immediately play music. Blackbox is designed specifically to be used to make music and that is very apparent immediately when you start using it. An iPad is designed to do absolutely everything, from audio production, to video games, to tax returns and that's apparent when using it too. It's easy to be blinded by an iPad's potential.

I love this unit! It’s a pleasure having a small unit that is simple enough to not let me stray away from the basics of track creation.

This is odd cause the record screen I haven’t got exactly the same since updating the firmware - I don’t have the threshold tab 🤷🏻♂️
The Record/Load screen changed. It is now a list instead of a single screen view. Scroll down using a knob to see all parameters.

You are doing nothing wrong. You are experiencing intended behavior.

can you record long phrases and trim them? or does it autotrim? Can I use this thing as a looper for live recording basically?
You can trim inside the box. You can also set up the blackbox to record specific length clips in order to sync.
will this sample my minibrute 3 keys just by connecting midi cble to blackbox
