This video is truly helpful and your presentation style is right to the point with explanations as needed. This is how tutorials/tips-n-tricks should be. Thank you do much for this since I just unpacked my OT a few days ago and was wondering the best way to use the resampling/remixing! Subscribed.
wow thanks!! that's exactly what i've been searching and it helps me a lot!! very useful to make some random fills! i guess thats the one of a kind functionality of the octratrack.. never saw this in other gear!
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge. One thing though I cannot grasp my head around (although following step by step your method), is the result resampled track is always lower in volume. Started a fresh/new project just in case but to no avail... I am on 1.40A. No level/master/gain changed.
@@EZBOT_ Thank you so very much for your help. This is very much appreciated. I know you have been "hammering" about 127 as unity gain for tracks in another video... Your tutorials are being VERY helpful as I am new to the OT. Have a DT but this beast (OT) is DEEP.
excellent videos you produve for us, thank you a lot. Now I really want to learn the Octatrack and spend time with it. I haven't seen all your videos yet, but would really appreciate your view on sound levels
All Track Volumes at 127 for THRU and FLEX for doing input recording/resampling, amp volumes can be adjusted. Just know that when you don't match volumes on tracks you create attenuation. So volumes might jump.
Good shit. Does the Octa sounds good. Lots of mix takes on this question. Does it sound EXACTLY like what you’re sampling ? Or does it color or lose some sonic integrity?
You deactivated sources abcd by pressing the trig and the corresponding buttons but couldn’t you just or also turn them down with the rotary’s? Many thanks (big fan)
Hey EZBOT! First and foremost thank you for all the information you’ve helped the community with. I’ve noticed when doing this, I’m having to set the volume of my resample track to about 62 to get the same output as the main output. I have compressor and dark reverb on the master. Have tried both T8 and main but still getting attenuation along with some artifacts. It does not sound as clean as yours. Any info/tips would be greatly appreciated
Hey! Yeah this tutorial works but it’s less relevant than my newer ones. Look at the advanced DJ fx tutorial. It will help you with this. It’s all about gain staging which is not really covered here
Great stuff! I have one question though: I did exactly like you did Mathew, but when I checked the resampled bit it was quieter than the original volume. I can't figure out why! You had the same thing at 2:55 when you listen to the resampled bit, but then at 4:20 when you make a transition with the fader, the volume is identical to the original! I solved it by assigning T8 in SCR3 because it's my master track and the volume of the resampled bit was identical. But if I assign MAIN in SCR3 - the volume is quieter... What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for this, good explaination. So it is possible to have one live input from an external synth onto track 1 ( and why not - on track 2 and 3) and basically do the same instead of using samples on track 1,2,3 as in your presentation, correct?
Absolutely, and that is the way I like to do it. This was just an explanation for remixing within the OT. But you can apply all these principles to external gear. It's no different
Thanks for the video! One question at min 4:29: When I slide to my resampled scene it is a little bit quieter. Why is that? And one further thing is if I arm the recording with TRACK + yes it immediately disarms again.
Nice one! Thnx! How do you reset your flex track so any new resample will be looped in its original value. So if you have made all changes like tricks, effects, LFO and stuff it will all be reset to just the new recorded sample so you can start over :-)

You are one of the best teachers when it comes to this labyrinthine box. Thank you for your talents. Do more, please.
Thank you so much!
Your tutorials are the most concise and structured there is for the OT. Thanks a lot for that !
Thank you so much!
hands down
Man Ive had the OT for 2 yrs now and learned new things here. Really great stuff man. Little tricks I never knew.
I love hearing that! Thank you
Thanks man! Calm voice and clear instructions are exactly what I need! I’ll try that!
exactly!
Whew super useful. I’m just getting into the Elektron world with OT and this is a huge help!
Just a note to say that your Octatrack tutorials are amongst the best I've watched. And I've watched so many over the years!
Thank so much!
I appreciate you saying that!
This is incredible. You're an excellent teacher my friend. Thank you so much
Man I’ve been waiting for someone to just clearly lay this out, thank you so much. Going to sign up for Patreon And hit you up. Keep the vids coming!
Wow! Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Good work. I've seen videos 4 times longer than this explain this in a much more confusing fashion. Nailed it.
Thank you!
Really appreciated this tutorial, in particular the short cuts and button presses for arming etc. V useful!
Thank you!
So amazing, the Create Random Slice function looks so damn cool! Thanks again for the high quality tutorial
Thank you for saying that! I love your channel btw!
Very nice and clear tutorial, love it! Thanks for sharing! Have a nice evening!
Excellent work here! You've packed so much information in a relatively short video.
This is so helpful....Thanks You

Thanks! I recommended following the External Remixer tutorial I made instead of this one. It’s a bit more updated
@@EZBOT_ Will do and thank you!
Looks great. For a minute I thought I was hopelessly on my own with this thing.
Try the other video too, “External Remixer” there is very important info in that one for resampling
@@EZBOT_ awesome thanks.
Wow! That's a lot of fun. Going to (try and) give it a go at a jam this weekend.
Thanks.
Awesome! Love to hear that

@@OlivierSarfati did it fix it for you?
@@EZBOT_ It did indeed. Thank you very very much. Track 8 as Master also at 127 :) Your tutorials are so detailed 🙏

I like your teaching style, really made it easier to get the fine points of this great machine.

agreed, thanks for keeping it simple

Wow 🤯 Thanks!
No problem
Hello Matthew! When I did the live recording my recording file's volume was always a few dBs short,do you have any clue why might be the cause?
Good shit. Does the Octa sounds good. Lots of mix takes on this question. Does it sound EXACTLY like what you’re sampling ? Or does it color or lose some sonic integrity?
Sounds great to me!
Neat explanation! Well done
Thank you!
live resampling is where real sound fuckery goodness is born
This is a true statement
You deactivated sources abcd by pressing the trig and the corresponding buttons but couldn’t you just or also turn them down with the rotary’s? Many thanks (big fan)
Any idea why my recorded sample is higher pitched and running a hair too fast?
LFO or rate might have been bumped
@@EZBOT_ Yeah, bumped pitch just a hair but it has to be spot on!
@EZBOT_ what would be causing my resampled track to have a volume duck? it is being recorded more quietly than the unsampled sequence

Totally!

make sure your track LVL is at 127
Tack Lvl of the sampled tracks? Yes was thinking about that too. But in Your Video the lvl also isn't on 127 and it's working
Great vid
ua-cam.com/video/AVyaljnfPDc/v-deo.html you should watch this one, it has better information. More information at least.
How do you revese a just internal recorded sample (e.g. Track 8 Master) by Scenes?
Assign the scene -63 on the rate of the recorded sample in the SRC page.
@@EZBOT_ Thx

hahaha, thanks Lils Beeeee
first 2 mins convinced me id never learn this haha
why do I still read the manual? :D
someone knows if live sample mangling is better with the newer Akai Force?

how to make moe shop
But track 5 is for bassline!
than what is track 4!? haha
@@EZBOT_ what? For percussion sounds obviously
@@karolcelinski8077 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Really annoying that they couldn't have somehow incorporated a pickup machine into the master track setting. its annoying to lose a track to do this.
Pressed 30 buttons to be able to record a track!! Thats why i hate octatrack
Haha!!! I mean this is how you set up live remixing. To record a track you just hold the record button and choose the track
