    I love my L1 pro32, I run two of them with 2 sub2s or even with one or two more subs. I love the ease of setup. I’m sure other systems you mentioned are good too. To my ears the sound of L1 pro32 is unmatched sound quality. My ears are done with most other PA speakers.

      One year later from this upload, I am reading in many comments that previous L1 system owners that now have the Pro32, prefer the sound quality of their older L1. The L1M2 especially. They agree the pro32 is louder but lacking in sound quality

    So I watched your video when you first unboxed the Bose pro32 sub2's shortly before I bought the Bose 32 sub2's. I've used the system at about 6 larger events (I DJ weddings) Your points are valid. It does not sound as good as the other L1 systems (I have owned them all) The system is MUCH MUCH LOUDER though. It WILL fill a large room with good sound. It WILL Cut through a crowd to the back of a packed dance floor, something other L1 systems could not do. I do high end weddings and it looks AWESOME. That is important to me (and to my clients and planners I work with). It's a BREEZE to set up! Almost as easy as my Evolve 50 speakers which I use most of the time. The subs are EASY to transport. I'm 60 and that is important..for a sub that size it puts out A LOT of bass. Is it the best bass? No, but my clients are not audiophiles. It booms and that's all they care about. Are they over priced? Yup, but there is nothing else like them and they work extremely well for the type of events I do. It took 3 weddings to pay for them both so the cost was not a major factor. No they are far from perfect. Would I buy them again if I had it to do all over again? I'm not sure..probably. I like your videos!

      I'm waiting until after the pandemic to start my wedding DJ career. With two Bose L1 Pro 32. I would like to know how you usually place them if your room is rectangular. Can you tell the maximum size of dance floor you would be comfortable with just the 2 of them ? Because they are so expensive, I'll get an idea of the maximum I can get out of them. For a restaurant with around thirty tables, just one would be plenty, I imagine. Many thanks in advance for your time to answer me.

    however in a loud party room with no more than 100 people, I crank the volume up and the sound becomes weirdly muddy, almost distorted and feels like it’s sending more of the sound to the subwoofer. I have messed around with lowering the bass to almost as low as it can go and I can’t get rid of the muddy bass-like sound at high volumes. Are you able to offer me advice?Is it possible I have a faulty product or do I just need to work on my EQing?? Thanks James

    I gather from most comments people seem to be DJs. I bought this from a singer and a 5 piece band perspective. I have used and heard many PAs. This one is good, lots of volume and clarity. Glad I bought the Tonematch along with it as amazing.
    Only negatives for me is the vulnerability of the design in wild drunken venues as the column wobbles when touched and the floor panel is easily splashed at floor level with drinks.
    If a sensible crowd and nice wedding and events this piece of equipment is brilliant as light weight and sounds amazing.

    Ha! I love your comment about the covers. The L1M2’s came with more premium cases. The cases for the top and base are pretty good though where is the pocket for the cables? The Sub2 cover is a joke. The B1 and B2 came with a thicker waterproof cover that though isn’t padded still feels premium.
    Definitely right on the Sub2. It’s not matched well. Some songs it sounds amazing, others it’s muddy and doesn’t sound right. I think part of this is the smaller drivers. The columns don’t get as low as the M2. I think this is so they can get better mixing of two systems and get highs above 16kHz unlike the M2. Unfortunately that means the Sub 2 handles higher frequencies than the B1/B2 had to and is a bigger driver. I’m. It sold on the racetrack either. There is a reason speakers are round. The sub match cable seems to send very little info to the column.
    The app and dsp ability is severely lacking. No parametric eq? No options for one Sub2 vs 2? I know you’re against getting the T4S mixer but I’m sort of ok with it if it fixes the issues. Here’s the thing, the T4S works on the M2 and Pro series and doesn’t have different eq’s for each so it doesn’t change a thing. It gives you a one band parametric eq, but that’s not much. Except a few more outputs and another tone match port it’s the same mixer as the T1. Also none of the Tonematch scenes have been updated in 15 years, they’re the same ones on the T1 mixer I have and very few. Hope you have Taylor guitars and Audix mics.

    Hi Opaz. Super helpful video. My wife and I are singer songwriters. We play outside a lot, like fall festivals back yard parties and porch fest. We are running rfc subs and Mackie SRM-V tops but it's a beast of a set up. We are 61 years old. Sometimes we play indoors like living room shows. I would really like a more consolidated set up. I'm on analysis overload right now. Any suggestion on an array that's good enough for outdoor use but an easier set up than 2 subs, tops, stands and a mixer? Oh, and doesn't sound like crap! ha

    • @opaz.

      To tell you the truth, I can't recommend any "mobile dj size" column array for outdoors. I use rcf nxl44's or 24's and subs for outdoors, a pain but I'm satisfied with the performance/output. These new compact columns can't really handle a decent volume outdoors, they don't have enough grunt. Sorry it's not what you want to hear but I have to be honest

It is the smallest SUB with 1000watt power down to 37Hz ( I just drive a very small car & my basic PA System fills already the trunk - But I am not sure if it is worth the money, Sometime this just says that it can waste so much ernergy, but it is not going to deliver them and maybe a 500w Behringer B1200D-PRO can deliver the same audio experice.

    In fairness to other viewers trying to learn about the Bose Pro32, I wish to point out an error in your review. At 2:37 you say the Pro32 is not height adjustable.This is incorrect. Bose states in the manual you can use just the bottom half of the tower and the power stand makes appropriate EQ adjustments for this configuration.

    • @opaz.
      @opaz.  2 роки тому

      When the Pro32 loses the attached upper 16 driver column, it is only 39 inches high 😆 that is laughable. From the ground up, that top speaker will now be much lower than my waist. If you are thinking that height is good for seated guests, think again. When seated that PA will still only reach below chest height 😆 (making the Pro32 good to entertain those lying down) 😆.
      In fairness to other viewers trying to learn about the Pro32, Is that really and truly their idea of height adjustable?😆
      The 8 & 16 are supplied with a "purpose built" spacer (albeit a very fragile one, for height adjustment). It contains "no speakers" making that PA purposefully "height adjustable" to perform in the exact same form factor as it would perform in its fully extended height. Neither of those two PA systems suffer any loss of performance at full height or adjusted lower height. They are both and still remain a Pro8 and Pro16 package system at both heights
      When the 32 is lowered with just the 16 drivers, It now has an open exposed column top end. It disposes of 16 crucial performing drivers, dropping the overall performance and output of the PA. It is also now so dwarfed to such an extremely low height (16 drivers from the floor up) that will no longer be of any use for a standing audience/guests. It will need to be elevated very high up off the floor to be at audience/guests head height (where their ears are)😆.
      Have they ever even realised that elevating the new 16 driver column & base to be above heads will now cause some super dooper, lovely "super stretch" on that SubMatch cable to the sub😆
      Height adjustable on the Pro32 has never been thought out or designed, exactly just like the column spacers!
      Height adjustable on the 32 was never revealed or mentioned at launch or in any other upload before my purchase. .. . funny that!!.
      Correct me if you wish but If that is their idea of "height adjustable" for the Pro 32, good luck with that 👍🏼😆

    • @archtopeddy
      @archtopeddy 2 роки тому +1

      @@opaz. I simply stated the comment you made was wrong. Since you can make the tower half it's total height by using only one of the two columns, I'd say that's height adjustable. Now if you don't like that solution, so be it. But it is incorrect to say it isn't height adjustable. As for stretching the SubMatch cable, my cable is at least 50 inches long -- 10 inches longer than the length of one of top column. This means I can plug the cable into the sub and still easily raise the mixer/stand high enough so that the top of a single colum setup is higher than the top of the normal two column setup. Now I would never use it that way, but it's pretty clear there is no concern about cable stretch here. Just wondering -- none of the previous top Bose L1 models -- the classic or the Model II -- came with "spacer" poles. Did you have problems with those systems? And why would you expect there to be "spacer" poles with the current model when they didn't exist with previous models?

      @@opaz. Interesting -- thanks for the info. Mine is 50 inches. (I bought my 32 used, so maybe it was an after market product I received). By the way, regarding height adjustable extension poles. While they might be useful, I would rather see the top column spit into two eight speaker pieces. That way you would have three tower pieces and could height adjust and set up the system with 16, 24, or 32 speakers.

    - The height is an issue.
    - FX are super limited unless you buy the extra tonematch, for hundreds extra.
    - Bags cases need to be bought seperately. You'd think for 3000 they'd include those. Sloppy really.
    - I don't mind the price, but I do mind all the stuff you need to buy separately for it to work properly for what you need it for.

    I'm in a guitar/drums/bass/keys looping duo (rock and pop music) and I had a Bose F1/812 system up until about a month ago. I switched to a pair of L1 Pro32's and Sub1's, and I couldn't be more happy. I run the columns in stereo, and the subs stacked in mono, and this setup seems to be a perfect frequency match between lows and highs. I use the 'live' EQ setting, and I roll the hi EQ down one notch on the line input. I get punchy snares and kicks, and nicely rounded bass guitar. It's a much better system for what we do than the F1/812's mostly because of the way it fills the rooms we play. There's something about the columns that allow the music to be the same volume everywhere in the club, from one foot away to 30 feet away. The mix of frequencies stays the same as well. We set the system up behind us now, which allows us to hear in detail exactly what everyone else in the venue is hearing. I don't need my IEM's any longer, which is a sweet and welcomed change putting me much more in the room. When we used them in a place we play quite often for the first time, the staff was quick to point out what a sonic improvement there was. According to the specs, the L1 32 pro has the same SPL at 13ft as the F1/812, and less dB loss at 33 ft. It used to take four trips to get the F1/812 into the club, and now it's two, 90lbs less weight.
    Opaz, there are some good points in your video. Like the mixer on the floor really worries me. It does look like a pan for dirt and water to form. And 3000 dollars each was a huge investment to swallow for something that doesn't look like 3000 dollars worth of stuff. That sub cover too.... disappointing. However, with Bose, you're paying for R&D as well as the product. Sure, we can say that Behringer has a much cheaper version of this style of PA, but of course they do. Bose did all the work...

    • @PhatSimey
      @PhatSimey 2 роки тому

      I went to a gig a couple of weeks ago, where the band had a stereo pair of F1/812 units (which they recently bought) and they nearly knocked me off my feet, quite literally! Thought they were a new thing, but then looking up on the Bose site, already about 7 years old. Is the L1 Pro series a replacement, or will there be a new breed of F1? Prefer the look of them to the more organic style of the L1, but that's just my taste.
      Would like a little more bottom end for the kick drum and 'floor' toms, so might add a Sub1 to my Pro8. The Behringer PAs we use as stage monitors (or the house PA) can't handle any bass, so I put my drums through the Pro8, and send the signal with low cut into the house PA. Works well.

      @@PhatSimey I think on the sub bass side of things, the F1's clearly were more well suited. I see the the L1 Pro 32 a replacement in SPL, coverage and portability, but probably not for recreating the full bass range, although the Sub2's would probably be better for that than the Sub1's if that's what you're looking for. Still not missing my F1/812's, though.

      @@toddmoore9138 Thinking the same about the F1 setup, but don't need that sort of grunt just yet. I play in a worship band (Roland V-Drums through the Pro8, volume at 12 o'clock and mids and highs also through the house PA is plenty), so stacking F1s on the stage might scare away the congregation- or blow them out of the doors! If I ever start gigging in pubs etc, might up my game then...

    All points are valid except for
    1. Running mono is better than stereo for live events
    The problem with running stereo in live situations is that the sweet spot is only limited to the area equidistant between the two speakers. All the other areas will be hearing different mixes depending on what speaker they are nearer to. Another problem with running stereo on column arrays(and even point sources) are that they are more susceptible to comb filtering which causes cancellations across the entire frequency range. Comb filtering is the main reason why the sound does not feel “full”. If you heard the effect of comb filtering you will know what I mean.
    2. The bottom speakers are not useless.
    It may seem useless assuming sound travels in a straight line but you need to consider that sound refracts upward when there is a positive temperature change. Putting line source speakers on the floor lessens the drop off in volume due to temperature changes(which is a common problem for column arrays and even compression drivers).
    That being said I still prefer the f1 series to the l1 because it does not wobble and there are no physical connections that are points of failure. The connection from the columns to the sub are not worth the price for all l series speakers. EV did a better job in terms of construction and materials with the evolve 50s.

    In past videos you said you don't mind pairing speakers from different companies. I agree the Bose House Sound is lacking clarity on top. I have paired my EV30M with the Pro32/Sub2. Using the App on the EV I can add just enough EQ to bring out the frequencies missing from the Bose. Of course I love the fact that I'm getting sound from left and right. Your response will probably be why should you have to fix a $3,200 speaker? Just a thought if you want to return your JBL PRXs! Shame you bought a pair of Pro32s. What do you do with your gear that is bested by the next find?

      No, pro32 with the ev is good, right up my street. If you don't experiment, you don't get anywhere.
      As you might or might not know. I am all over the place with brands. The average person buys a pa that fits the purpose and "THAT IS IT" job done. Get on with it and start earning.That is the best and most efficient way to be. However what if you're unsure what to buy or can't get to demo product after product.
      I love gadgets, audio etc and always have. I am always looking out and about at what's new and if it is good I want to try it out. At the same time give back whether it's info through the tube or just advice
      There are so many that are just like I was years ago before I even had a clue how to successfully deliver a dj performance. They aren't sure which way to turn finding the good gear and eliminating the bad. We all want the best and bottom line, we want to spend as little as possible getting it. Hopefully my tiny input over the net, helps somebody
      Obviously some disagree and they're opinion matters, not mine
      Very few item purchases are sold. I experiment with equipment, let other djs, buskers, bands, performers, places of worship, clubs, bars etc etc use them for periods to get their feedback for myself to see how items work or don't at NO cost to them
      I do still use a majority of my equipment to earn and at the moment it's all going very well. Problem is, there's just not enough hours in the day to do it all

    The prices here are linear, which means a 16 costs as much as 2x 8’s and a 32 costs as much as 4x 8’s. Would you say that it would be a good setup to use 4x Pro8’s and having spacious sound that works well for Deep House / Tech House and Techno? Or do you have other models that you would recommend? I agree with all the concerns you brought up, bose doesn't fail in making good sound devices they just have fallen back on their names sake when I am no fool and I will knit pick everything a company I trust makes so I know I'm going to be satisfied with my purchase rather then regret it later. Your arguments are valid. I switched from an L1 type 2 which I love still to the pro 32 and I'm very disappointed at the poor frequency response. It takes a lot of work to make these speakers sound good and even then I'm not satisfied with the way the sound is sculpted. I use a k sub subwoofer with it because I don't care for the Bose base cabinets. I believe the fundamental problem is that the line array speakers are too small. I always get a tinny sound that I can't seem to eliminate. If anybody has any idea how to please let me know. I use a single stack for karaoke. Was a fantastic combination with the L1 type 2 but infuriating with the updated Pro 32

    Finally made the F1 system purchase. So far, very nice, loud, and clear system. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I didn't bother with the 8, 16, or 32 because I already knew from an SPL perspective, the F1 system was superior.
    It's unfortunate that the 32 didn't live up to your expectations. Here in the US, the F1 system is cheaper than the 32 at $2k per stack. While the F1 might be a bit heavier than the 32, I am still able to put it together and tear it down with no help.

    Being a DJ you would far less notice the mid range detail being lost in a live performance. I think the issue hear is the 2” Cricket drivers cannot produce the mid frequencies properly. Even the S1PRO has better mids uses the same 2.25” mid high drivers the 812 uses. I think they made a big mistake using 2” drivers! The low frequencies are not passed to the Sub until 200Hz. That’s why it sounds like there is a hole in the response of this speaker. They should have kept the 2.25” driver size and improved the drivers and DSP. Mines going back!

      The Bose PRO did come out on top. So I went back to the PRO 8. I run 2 for stereo.
      That being said I wouldn’t spend $7,000 to buy 2 and then a Tone match mixer! I would buy some QSC 12.2’s. Or the Bose F1 812.

  • @stevebrookstein
    @stevebrookstein 3 роки тому +1

    Isn't the JBL PRX one is also mono? It has no Aux out and it needs an external mixer to run stereo!! So you buy two PRX Ones and have 14 channels that don't get used. Neither Bose and JBL offers that option without and external mixer. If you want stereo and all the inputs then the Ev50M has to be the best option. You get to use all the channels on two speakers and via the app. If you only want one then JBL seems like the Best Buy.

    • @opaz.

      $1599, you expect mono, many others at that price are. 3K nearly double the price, still only mono!! 🤔. ES 1203 has old tech that makes it a stereo pa for less than 2K.

    Hello sir....i think,i might be able to help you..
    If you can play this unit in stereo then you got one foot out of the mud . You have to EQ each one separately to the room.and then balance are tone them together.....as for the bass cabinet try raising it to the height of the top of the stick.raising and lowering it to find the right EQ to the room...ooooo yeah..both sub's should be on the same rack or stand ...one upright and the other on it side.. actually if you could turn the right speaker 😅 stick upside so tweaker are on top.🎉... How,,😂 Duck tape..I hope this works for you and me..i just have two boom boxes that I arranged like this.well one PA with 2:1 and a 2:1 Boom BOX.. when i was a kid i worked the system.a 100th tube system 50 tubes per side and replacing the tubes when they burned out..and i notest the audience never heard the true sound from stage 🤯...and i thought 🤔 you have to separate the Bass 😕 i ask all of the people i ran into anyway.they move that system to Mexico city.and it received an award for best sound system of the year 🤔... But i just got an award for spot light.😅 So my works great 👍...you can send check to me anytime 🤠😂...PS..you might try mixing the larger and smaller subs together and not two large... that's all😊

    Those Peerless-made mid/high drivers are quite nice to be fair. They use the same ones on the F1 and S1 (8/3 respectively). Does it justify the price difference? I don't think so.

    • @ronedwards8239
      @ronedwards8239 2 роки тому +1

      Absolute rubbish! The drivers in the S1PRO/ F1-812 are 2.25” mid high drivers. The L1 PRO systems are using 2.0” drivers. Designed and manufactured by Bose. Peerless are a knockoffs available at Parts Express which are nothing like the original’s performance. People see aftermarket speakers and make nonsensical assumptions and state them as fact.

    I was in Sweetwater yesterday testing various column array units. For the money, you can do better with other units. The EV Evolve 50 sounds pretty damn good for about half the cost. Add in just about any sub (and I paired it almost everything they had on display) I personally think you come out better. That system is not worth $3200, it's just not.

    I think Bose systems are like high-end cars like BMW's or Mercedes--they aren't worth the money, but boy are they nice. Not to mention very easy to transport which becomes more important the older you get. I play a keyboard and my partner sings and plays sax. My L1 Pro32 Sub 1 has filled the bill for us in a very satisfying fashion. Yes, I paid a lot for it....but boy is it nice.
