Thank you. At home we have a large kitchen/breakfast area, in which I placed my big, fat, heavy, ugly JBL Eon One Line Array speaker four years ago. The sound is rich and pleasing (to me anyhow!) so it has sat there for four years. I have no motivation to try and sell or trade it in as I am very pleased with it played via a mixer. I just practice karaoke singing on it and my friends and I have karaoke fun now and then. I auditioned a Bose L1 Compact but wasn't that impressed. Well, the Eon One has truly pathetically weak Microphone Preamps (2 of them). I use a Mackie ProFX6v3 mixer to sing using the Eon One. I've also had a Bose S1Pro for four years. Last month I traded in the S1 Pro for a new Electro-Voice Everse8 portable battery powered speaker. Wow, so awesome! What a dramatic improvement over the Bose S1Pro! There is a fairly big learning curve though, to adjust the EQ settings on it. During the learning is when I realized that the EQ setting on my cellphone or tablet has a big influence on the quality of the sound I send to a speaker! Set the cellphone to "Classic" and the sound quality of pop songs will be pretty pathetic!!! Anyhow, I suspect the Everse8 uses the EQ circuitry that EV uses for the Evolve M series.
Ld systems maui 28 G2, maui 11G2, Maui 5 and EV Evolve 50/50M/30M also belonged in this round up, as did the Mackie SRM Flex and HK Audio Polar 10 and Polar 12. JBL have also just released a new line array PA system, the PRX1 which looks very impressive.

I wrote about my 4 year old JBL Eon One Line Array speaker below. Well, when I complained to JBL about the pathetically weak Mic preamps, they said they had a fix so I drove sixty miles to the nearest JBL repair center and the technician said he worked on the circuitry as per instructions from JBL. Well, that marginally improved the power (maybe 10% not sure) output from the mic preamps but still pretty inadequate. But I thought, using a Mackie mixer, the sound is rich with great fidelity and perfectly satisfactory volume, so the Eon One has been with us for 4 years and not going anywhere soon! :) I have seen reviews of the Eon One Pro which came after, and people were still lamenting about the poor mic preamps.
