If the Akashic Revelation ship lore is to be believed... then the Veil is indeed the true Akasha. For those who don't know, the Akasha is basically all that makes up the material world that expands into negative and positive infinity. That it is to say that the akasha is what the world is/has/will offer(ed) to exist. The titan Joxer was the one who made the expedition into the Veil in the intro cutscene, and while not a reliable source since he was not able to relay what happenened, rather, the account in the lore book is his own internal venture into the Veil as he perished; Joxer experienced his past life... heard the screams and cries of his ghost disintegrating from all aspects of time... past, present, and future. Peering into the Akashic records will literally drive you mad. It is the ultimate form of knowledge that has an even greater price. It is to lose one's self in pursuit of being literally one with the world, for what is the value of ultimate knowledge if you cannot be a vessel for it? People who know of the Hinduism and Buddhism philosophy and theology know that the world is and should be left to dictate itself and not be tampered with. Perhaps, this is why the Traveler makes us forget... to simplify the world in exchange for being able to protect the one truest truth without questioning that reliable knowledge. That knowledge being THE absolute truth, the history, present, and future of all that has, is, and ever will be.
This theory makes sense because the direct source of energy emanating from the Veil is Strand, the thing that connects literally everything in the universe. It would have recorded every moment of a particle down to the smallest increment of existence. It makes sense because the Neomuni, who have sacrificed their bodies to pursue a world and secure their existence through data and memory records, have done so only through the power of The Veil. It makes sense because the Neomuni refer to the abstract concept of Strand as "The River of Souls", which is probably why we see Cayde in the new trailer for The Final Shape. It makes sense because the Vex are so fixated on time and space and are even more fixated on understanding how to calculate the entire world down to the most distinct digit.
Perhaps the game's title, Destiny, isn't talking about OUR Destiny, but the actual record of all destinies. Perhaps the Veil alongside the Traveler are an ark of sorts, similar to how the Cloud Ark of Neptune essentially is an entire world for the Neomuni, and we are just the beta test for the eponymous "Final Shape". Remember, Ikora once mentioned that the Vex "were not the beginning, but the reason". They are not here to start a world of their own, but are here to solve the ultimate calculation of the world... it is why their calcuations in the Infinite Forest saw them as the last forseeable beings in existence at the end of it all, despite knowing that we as paracausal entities as well as the Witness exist in this universe. They want to answer and resolve the question of WHY we exist. They were created from the most ancient conflict between Light and Darkness in their purest forms (or so we are told), long before the Witness existed, so they would have the clearest idea what the objective of The Traveler and The Veil really are, and its probably why they were the closest to reconstructing The Veil from nothing. For all intents and purposes, they are the closest to being able to replicate this akashic knowledge; moreover, the fact that they are essentially a hive mind of seemingly uncountable organisms working in unison rather than as individuals seeking unbearable knowledge is probably what helps them not dissociate into madness like how Joxer did.
I don’t think that’s specifically the Veil. This is all my theory but I think the veil is connected with memory and the traveler is connected with Life. Two sides of the same coin essentially. Together they created a portal into a realm beyond space time. So when guardians like Joxer approach it they see all of their history, from before they were a guardian to their death (which he seems to have seen right before it happened). That’s also likely how Cayde comes back in Final Shape. His Ace being destroyed, no Sundance, all that, it’s a time remnant of Cayde from right before he died. I think when we enter that portal on the other side will be a realm built upon every major event in our times as guardians. We might see Oryx, Cayde, and all those other things while we move to the Witness. The other thing that backs this up is that the Witness seeks the final shape, essentially no life and thus no suffering, so it goes into this realm outside of time to erase time from existence essentially.

@@broderickfoster2107 The Witness doesn't crave nihility, it craves purpose. Purpose to why there is suffering in the first place, otherwise it wouldn't cause suffering to begin with. It's not some grand scheme to end suffering, it's a scheme to give all of it meaning. Nihility is what the Hive have extrapolated from its design. If the Wtiness wanted to end suffering, it had the ability to do so a long time ago. It wouldn't have made a long drawn out game for the Hive to cause destruction everywhere, it wouldn't have employed a literal madman who would destroy his entire race over a seemingly misunderstood betrayal, it wouldn't have recruited a literal god of pain to do its bidding and make imprints of that same entity to enact his plan, it wouldn't have employed an unenthusiastic tyrant who tried to seek meaning in an ever downward spiraling fit of boredom who the Witness tells he lacks purpose in his suffering in the Lightfall campaign. The signs are all there, but the destination isn't, and I honestly don't understand what exactly is the goal. It's like the Thanos problem: Thanos could have easily doubled the entirety of the universes resources and gave people prosperity instead of halfing all live in the universe so that it could prosper instead; in this case the Witness is not seeking an end of suffering, it's looking for the point of it all, and if possible end that purpose entirely. True nihilty requires that you lose yourself in the process, and if that is the case, what does the world even matter? That's the point of the Akasha, to become one with the real purpose of the world, to understand and ascertain what exactly is the meaning of it all... the problem is, the Witness has an agenda of sorts. It wants to change the world to fit its morals and it probably won't stop until it understands why suffering is a thing to begin with. Perhaps when it finds out what the purpose of suffering means to the world and why it has to be, it will change its mind. As whether it will be for our best interests or it all goes into the trash, we just have to wait and see.
Really appreciate all your hard work breaking down destiny lore since the beginnings. Make sure to take care of yourself too, bud. I’m a dad as well and have a full family with 2 kiddos and our 3 dogs so these days I rely heavily on your knowledge / videos to help me understand this story I’ve been so hooked on for years now. Not the Witness talking to Mya but Savathun . Because during the collapse the Witness was looking for the veil which was stolen and hid
def a possibility, but comms from savathun have never been in someone's own voice. I'm still inclined to believe it's the witness
@@not.skywalker it can honestly be either it makes more sense that’s it’s savathun cuz the witness didn’t know where the veil was till lightfall, however talking to someone as themselves is the witnesses mo. Personally would like it to be savathun but I can see it being the witness.
Savathun is the hive god of trickery. We may have never heard her talking to someone in their own voice but she's known for using audio magic to manipulate people so I'd bet that it is her. I just don't see the witness knowing Mia was looking at the Veil without knowing where it was at or at least knowing what planet it's on and we didn't see them discover the location until they attacked the traveler directly in lightfall. It could definitely be something along the lines of the witness planting seeds of darkness in all the notable researchers working on the exos so it can influence them in the future similar to how they influenced Clovis and I think that's also what they were doing with the civilians they captured during last season as a sort of Trojan Horse.
I feel like they may have adapted SIVA into the quicksilver nanites which don't seem as OP. As far as we know, they brought SIVA with them on the ship but they don't have a replication chamber to make more so I'm thinking what they had of the original nanites is all used up already.
The whole point of the drill public event on Neptune is the cabal drilling for Nanite fluid. So they clearly have more.
I’m pretty sure the billboarding has to do with them regaining some sort of feeling or memory from their pre exo life, which then causes neural issues and a repeat of what happened with the alpha and beta tests (the mind not recognizing the body and then rejecting it)
If the Veil is powering a sort of alternate reality for Neomuna now, perhaps it's always had the ability to host consciousness, and that's what happened to the human and exo colonists, their consciousness was sort of lapped up by the Veil. Maybe they're still in there? Do we know what ultimately happened to Maya?
I have the same theory! so much so that it seems like it would line up well that connection the witness used *through* our ghost as the mguffin that allows us and only us go through the portal. we will be probably only ones that can find out if Maya and the rest are in this the alternate dimention of time and space on the other side of that... final shape in that traveler.

On the topic of SIVA, I do miss the space herps. Remember when SIVA came out and there was this disease you can spread to other players? Fun times.

I dont really think that modern Neomuna Nanites have anything to do with SIVA, they just said they used SIVA when they first arrived. SIVA had multiple problems and instabilities that would lead to long-term use to be dangerous. Whats really strange is that the WInterbite Exotic Glave has the exact same architecture as the Neomuna Nanites, but the glaive was found during the Collapse, years before Neomuna Nanites were ever made...were the Neomuna Nanites made through the Glaive somehow?

I see a parallel with Maya hearing the Veil's name as soon as she saw it with how Strand's appearance is dictated by The Guardian's initial perception of it.

We knew siva was involved due to the fact all the exodous ships having siva on board. I always assumed this. Have been waiting on something about it. Yhis was always my last hope since we destroyed it all as soon as i found out about lightfall.

All of the Exodus colony ships were equipped with SIVA to help the colonies construct whatever they needed. There might be SIVA in the dreaming city
I recently got lightfall and right away i wondered the connection between the nano tracer rockets and siva. Last season i used outbreak with anti barrier this season i use quicksilver with the anti barrier😅
The Neomunians use a liquid like nanomachine, the biggest example is Quicksilver Storm. I wouldn't be surprised if this was an enhanced version of Siva since they would have had samples.

I'm not fully convinced the witness knew much about what was going on there in the beginning, and think it might have been more of a case of his influence radiating from the veil somehow, or him sensing the minds of those pressent without actually being able to tell where it was, as if he knew that he wouldn't have needed to touchthe traveler to see where it was.

The Witness (Darkness) needed to use our ghost to make the connection with the traveler. Light and dark connection

Clovis used Darkness or clarity to make the exos and some, which have been known to pick up on secret audio logs on Europa ( us and Cade) were risen also as guardians, (light and dark connection same time) I think this is why he could make it in unknowingly as for other non exos we have some grasp of darkness abilities but we weren’t born from clarity like exos. That’s why we can’t enter. Yet

I could see this being Siva if we take advantage of previously existing technology and knowledge. This may also relate past campaigns to the present one, connecting the fallen, the Exos, and the Darkness.
I think if this were to be Siva, we would be imbuing the Nano Machines with Darkness and create a Psychic link between the Guardian and Siva. This would work in a similar way as what happened with Clarity Control and the Exos, being that they infused Radiolaria with Darkness. We know that Radiolaria is similar to Siva through Parting the Veil. This comparison was also in relation to the Veil, witch makes me believe that it is possible to create such a psychic link. This would fit the theme of Darkness as while Light is the power of Energy and Force, Darkness is the Power of the Mind and Connection. Even Stasis, witch you need to be strong willed enough to use.

Of course we knew Neomuna tech was evolved from siva. Old news. Siva was a nanite sort of tech that can be shaped into all sorts of devices. The Neomuna nanites are just significantly evolved versions of that. We also knew all the colony ships were loaded with siva.

Holy hell. If this questline was actually a lightfall post-campaign thing at launch.... SO many issues with the story could have been fixed. Putting it in a season later leaves the sour taste of lightfall's flaws in the community's mouths
I adopted a strategy 5 years ago with Destiny, just wait for most of the year to come out, THEN play. Sadly the FOMO simulator has prevented that, especially with DCV.

I like the idea of the witness whispering to Maya. Only thing is wouldn't that mean they'd know it's location or have a rough idea to whisper to her? Wouldn't the whispers almost be more of logical for savathun to have been whispering/guiding Maya? I mean could be wrong just a thought.
I’m hoping that it’s just like a defense mechanism put in place by the witness. Like the veil can act on its own with similar abilities. Cause otherwise I had the same thoughts about it as you.
They were also whispering to Clovis as well. Why would it be so far fetched that the Witness wouldn't have been able to talk to anyone else besides him?

I feel like name dropping SIVA is fine, since if we had it we'd be theoretically unstoppable. The only way i could see SIVA coming back is to Eradicate it.

Vex lore is the best. It’s a shame we’ve yet to have a true Vex focus in years. Anytime they’ve been involved after Season of The Undying their weren’t the main threat. Quiria for example, not only is he Taken, but he was working off Savathun’s will.
The Vex don't seem to really be part of the Light/Dark Saga. Like they are just there doing their own thing but truly aren't on any side.
@@urazz7739 Because they too are chasing the final shape, but their own. Their only alignment is their own. With temporary allowances for outsiders to help when it's calculated to be needed .

Honestly, even if that line about history being contradictory is a 4th wall break, it is incredibly true. Ask anyone who's done research on Herodotus, or Egyptian history, or greek. I mean even the story about nero playing a concert while rome burned is disputed in multiple sources that claim he aided in the evacuation and containment of the inferno.
So, fourth wall break? Probably. Accurate? Absolutely.
