  • Ive altered the size of some of my trowels. I used to use a 12 inch trowel but now to manage shoulder and back pain ive reduced the size of my trowels.
my go to trowels will now be 9 or 10 inch trowels hopefully this will help me manage the shoulder and back pain
watch the video to find out what ive done to alter the trowels up a bit .
hope the idea helps you out
    Justin

Dear Brickrighters, as a long- term fan and liker I totally agree to your approach! In my collection of international trowels there is nearly none without being tuned in blade size/shape, hinch or handle.
    Best regards from Germany!

Who on this earth would have thought 'Bricklayer and Re-cycling' in the same sentence! Wonderful Justin, makes so much sense to work with a tool that is comfortable and reliable. As for aching shoulders and elbows, you sure it's not getting the lads down the pub too many times? Good to see you all in the sunshine!

I've got a ducks foot trowel Justin.Well that's what my mates call it or a teaspoon. I always cut my trowels down just so my wrists don't hurt pickin a 12 inch shovel up!

Have always found 12"- 13" trowels awkward & bloody hard on the wrist, have used 8"-10" Philadelphia Pattern trowels for close on 40 years.

Have to agree long term use of a big trowel effects the wrist elbow and shoulders in my opinion 👍🧱🧱

Hi Justin, I'm ashamed to say my trowels need some attention. I'll get to it just now in a minute and I'll do it over by there like. Looking good.

    Hi Justin
Yeah I moved from a big trowel to a small one now , easy on the arm and wrist and not much different to be honest , the key is not losing them and keeping them properly clean not just dipping in sand to clean and then throwing in a bucket mate But will the kids listen 😂😂😂 keep safe mate and top tips for the lads up and coming ❤️👍 have a nice week be mate !

Have a good week you and the lads.

    Haha ankle grinder 😆
Speaking of forearms etc, have you ever had wrist sprains buddy? Manually digging out for my patio (which is 80% there now) has wrecked my wrists
Thankfully it’s bucketing down here in South Wales and I’m able to give them a nice break
