Damajagua Waterfall Full Experience: Raw Review

- This adventure was just seen on this season’s Amazing Race! This is one of the most popular excursions in the Dominican Republic - so we knew we had to review it start to finish... The most important tip we can tell you without watching the video - bring water and water shoes! Here's exactly how our tour unfolded one a very very crowded day. Hopefully it will give you the information you need to know if you decide to go.
If you do decide to do it - book early - it's popular. Also - if it appears to be sold out, get on a waiting list. You may still be able to do it.
Here's how NCL describes it: "Experience the Damajagua waterfalls in every way imaginable with a local guide leading the adventure. A leisurely hike (?) through a jungle-like landscape will bring you to the waterfalls, whose source is the Damajagua River, a cool mountain stream. This breathtaking natural wonder contains numerous cascades of varying heights, and you will reach about a dozen of them. You will jump off some of the waterfalls, negotiate other ones by sliding down slick rock chutes and swim in the sparkling (?) pools at the base of all of them. Wooden walkways and steps connect many of the cascades, allowing you access that would be impossible otherwise. The river is known for its beautiful blue hue (?) as it spills out of the mountains and carves its way through the rocky terrain. Steep limestone canyons line much of the Damajagua, making the scenery all the more memorable." Here's our review... safe travels!

I did this shore excursion and loved it! I am surprised to hear it took you guys two hours to get to the waterfalls! it was about a 40 min hike for us and I found it to not be that bad. I felt like we stopped enough to rest and then kept on. I would definitely do this again!
we do always wonder if we hit it on a bad day...
@@spaceshark Ya, there seemed to be a lot more people in your video than when I went. Plus our group was moving at a good pace. But still, two hours seems very long. I was surprised to hear that time. It is gorgeous though, definitely something to see.

I have watched several videos on this excursion as we are considering it for our cruise in April on The Carnival Vista. This is hands down the best and most informative one I have watched so thank you for that! It has helped me in multiple way, first we are definitely going to do it! Second, we will bring our own water bottles-is there trash cans along the way to dispose of the empty bottles? Third, we all have Teva and Keen water hiking sandals and will be wearing them on this excursion and fourth and most importantly- we will be booking it through the cruise line as opposed to a third party. Carnival is the only line who does not allow jumping so I was really considering booking through a third party tour company but after seeing the long lines, wait time and how close to all aboard time y’all got I now know we must book with Carnival for peace of mind. I can’t thank you enough for this fabulous video and review, I’m subscribing now!

I booked this for my wife and myself in January of 2023. GAWD DAYUM that water was COLD.
Good review this exactly how I felt. The steps were steep and it was muddy hard to walk up

Thanks for the detailed review! What month were you there? I was thinking of booking this excursion for our cruise in January...I wonder if it will be as hot and humid.
Thank you - we were there in June, so I think you should be in good shape - hopefully more relaxed - we really do think water shoes and water are so important!
I was in early January ( last week). Very muddy and slipery. I would advice to get thick soles water shoes because I felt every rocks and pebbles for a very long time. Water scandals looked very good for this on people there .

when you all finished the waterfalls, how much time it took to go back to start point?
You journey back at the same time - so it’s much quicker
Probably about 15 to 20 minutes back to the bus…
I might skip this one. It looks too crowded, the timing isn't correct and the payoff is nothing.
We were eager to show what we went through - so people could make an informed decision - you really don’t see that till you’re there. 😅
