- Through the Grand Canyon: A Whitewater Adventure is our private whitewater raft trip from January - February 2024. The trip was filled with big rapids and epic views of the Grand Canyon. We enjoyed all of the big rapids: House Rock, Hance, Horn Creek, Granite, Hermit, Crystal, Bedrock, Deubendorf, Upset, and Lava Falls Rapids. We also made enjoyed many amazing hikes at Nankoweap Granaries, Havasu Canyon, Thunder River and Thunder Spring, Blacktail Canyon, Elves Chasm, Redwall Cavern, Deer Creek, and Pumpkin Spring.

I enjoyed the newbie perspective and appreciated your emphasis on significance of the Grand Canyon for native Americans.
Glad you enjoyed it! I was really struck by the history as well.
"The river teaches you as you go." It really does- did my 4th trip June 2023. Thanks for a great video!
Thank you! No matter the river, I learn something new every time.
Thanks for a great whitewater adventure. Great music and even greater views.
Glad you enjoyed it, it was an epic trip!
Although I not a whitewater rafter…I can say this…at 18 my parents decided on this big vaca for the family ending in Vegas….this was 30 years ago too…I can say that my 18 year old mind can never forget how little we are in this world….the Grand Canyon is just a few places that can make you feel this way!! Great video!!! Makes me want to go again!!!
Trip of a lifetime.
Yes it was! Maybe I will be asked to go again at some point. I did not think I would want to go again, but making this video has me reconsidering
This was so well done and so helpful. Instructive for all of us set to go do the same thing!
Glad it was helpful! Hope you enjoy your trip!
Great videography, I felt like I was right along with you - my arms are aching from rowing‼️😍
Thanks, it was an epic trip
Thanks for sharing this video. We have a trip planned for September 2026.
Amazing Mike! It must have been so hard to keep this video around 30 minutes. Truely an adventure! Nostrovia!
Thanks brother! There was SO much on this trip. It was hard to choose what to include. I included more rapids more for my memories than anything else. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the fabulous video, in 4k no less. Love it.
Glad you enjoyed it
What a beautiful place for a wonderful experience ❤
Thank you for letting us having part in your adventure and gratulations not only for braving all the rapids but editing this video. I only wish I would have been the 1 Austrian invited 😉Did some great rafting myself there when I was your age 😊but of course that all pales compared to the Colorado.
Thank you so much! Our Austrian was the best kayaker, too!
Well done!!!
Thank you, it was an epic trip.
Great watch! Thank you!
My pleasure, the Grand Canyon is an incredible place.
Epic journey!!
Great video and looks like your crew had a superb time! Well done with the documenting and really appreciate it. I'm heading there in a few days, and starting at phantom ranch to meet up with the crew. Cheers!
Hope you enjoy it! It is an absolutely epic place.
Great waves you've got!
It was an epic trip
Thank You for that outstanding and amazing ride through the Grand Canyon
Thanks for watching!
What a great video. I've been down twice, the most recent last month & you showed me all kinds of cool stuff I want to go back & do, especially in the first 50 miles!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That had to be so amazing!! Great job on the video! Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Thank you, it was absolutely epic. Thanks for watching!
Outstanding sir! Thank you for putting this together for sharing. 👍
My pleasure! Thanks for coming along for the journey, see you outside.
I LOVED this Mike!!! So great to see people I know (Steve, Mar, Don and you)(and whose' that ZZ Top guy! LOL!) on this gorgeous River! I need to get back on the Genesee with Don and get more "seat time"!! Maybe I will run this with the Prijon Yukon Expedition one day??? 🙂 I was sitting on the edge of my seat!!
Thanks! It was an amazing adventure with some amazing people. SYOTR!
I'm in St George. It's amazing to me that the Colorado River can be so full, when Lake Powell and Lake Mead are both experiencing severe droughts.
It is kind of wild they actually have a “tide” chart for how the water is released.
It's amazing to me that we are still dependent on failing reservoirs. Maybe less lawns, golf courses and palm trees in St George? I think Washington county has the highest per capita water use in the United States - even while experiencing severe drought.
The water released from the dam relates to the amount of hydro electricity needs to be generated. No way is it full.
I went of an 8 day whitewater rafting trip through the Canyon May of last year. I want to go back so badly.
Me too, it was an epic trip.
Great video! Nice lines through the rapids - nailed Lava! It certainly is a trip of a lifetime. I've never been in the Marble canyon dam site bore hole. Interesting... what side is it on?
Thanks, I appreciate the comment. The dam site is on River left.
Thank you for the great vid. May you pls kindly expand the text description to also include the info about the budget? Thanks.
By taking out at Diamond Creek (mile 225), you missed the last 54 miles of the canyon (total 279 miles), and those last 54 miles are among the most scenic.
Very cool! Tks for posting - do you know what the river was running (cfs)?
We had it at 10k-13k for the trip
Wow! Thank you Mike for sharing this with all your OC hikers, and everyone else. I wondered as I watched the video if the muscles in your arms and core 'screamed' at you, "we can't do this, we can't...YES, YES we can!", and then while you tried to sleep, they whispered, with a raspy evil laugh, "You think you're going to sleep tonight? Bruh-ha-ha, think again." All the best to you and your whole family.
P.S. May I borrow that cute red and white polka dot ensemble for a Halloween hike?
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Great video! What set up did you use to mount your GoPro on the stern??
I rented a mounting stick from Ceiba. It used worm gear clamps to mount to the frame of the raft. Check out: www.ceibaadventures.com/parts-pieces-rentals?pgid=kex6unw01-6dc3edc5-08ed-4c9f-a924-2947c00c647e

Thanks brother!
Is there a 5 star hotel provided nightly?
Coragem, muita coragem, coisa que eu nao teria.😅😅😅
Para minha surpresa o senhor, no meio do vídeo, canta Tom jobim em Português.
Parabéns pelo vídeo
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Does it take 3 weeks
You can do it quicker on a motorboat or not taking down days, but why? It's the canyon!
What wet suit gear are you wearing?
I have an NRS Axiom Gore-Tex dry suit on.
How you keep the food cold
Each raft has a large Canyon cooler. We only open the cooler for a particular day. We ate like kings and queens.
do you know what the average cfs was for this trip?
12k-14k cfs
@@OutsideChronicles thank you! Great video you absolutely nailed horn and lava. Nice rowing!
@@ParanoidUnicornthanks!
