Even more so when it's very apparent that Gameloft took its inspiration from Sonic Rush. On one hand, it's too bad that Dimps was handling the PS2/Wii version because we missed out on a pretty solid handheld version of Unleashed. But on the other hand, the PS2/Wii game came out pretty solid, solid enough that it's still up to debate on whether that version or the PS3/360 game is better. So take that how you will.
@@ajrm620 The Wii/PS2 Version is actually really good imo.. The levels are really fun and I like how the extra levels take place in completely different set peices than the base stages.
@@onthedre I really like the Wii/PS2 version as well. Some of that affection may be bias since it's the one I played through when Unleashed first came out but I just really appreciate not having to the medal hunting and it's a pretty interesting take on the boost formula, much more different to how we're used to it in the 360/PS3 version and then onwards. Feels more like a tool. My only issue with it really was the werehog. I'm one of the people that didn't mind the werehog in the 360/PS3 game but on Wii/PS2, feels way too overwhelming. You'll have one daytime act that's like 2½ minutes then 5 nighttime acts that go on for way too long.

The fact that this side version of sonic unleashed, made for flip phones by gameloft has decent level design for the day stages is uncanny to me. They have multiple paths and set pieces too like the little 3d sections of the clock tower in rooftop run. Edit: if the day stages were remade with decent engine to remove all the jank the game has im sure they would be pretty great. Edit 2: i now realise why the level deisign for the day stages is good, it was copied from sonic rush adventure.

Still, finding J2ME/Symbian software is difficult these days.
The game has so many quirks to it. Like how the day tracks are substantially shortened, all the night levels having the same track, the invincibility music just restarting the level music, a large amount of cut content (literally only FOUR ZONES from Unleashed made it here), the shuffled level order, the rewritten story (Chaos Emeralds are more or less useless in the plot now, there's no sealing the planet, Chip is just... there, etc.), the werehog levels just having bosses included, there only being two day bosses, the lack of any hub worlds whatsoever, and so many more. It's just a very odd port.
