Never played the game, but cool comparison. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions seem different to the PS2 and Wii versions, even with more complicated controls, but the Java version is definitely different.
That's because they have more powerful hardware. The Wii version was so weak, they had to even cut out the hub worlds and replace them with a flat map to navigate between levels
In terms of cutscenes, PS3 Unleashed is the best due to it having an uncapped FPS, but the Wii/PS2 version has the advantage of being pre-rendered and never lagging
1 - The cutscenes of the PS2/Wii versions were just recorded videos of the X360 versions. The PS3 and X360 rendered the cutscenes in game graphics live. 2- The advantage you describe is not an advantage at all 3- the PS2/Wii versions ran the cutscenes at sub 30fps making them choppy as hell. They were awful.
For me this is the best Sonic 3D, however disappointing Werehog is, the day stages are so perfect, the story is simple but perfect for a Sonic game (Colors, Generations and Forces have sinned a lot in this aspect) the game has visuals incredible for the time and that aged really well and not to mention the magnificent soundtrack, it’s a pity that SEGA doesn’t want to port this game to the latest platforms. I knew this game on PS2, it is basically a worsened version of the Wii version in all aspects, the graphics are worse, the models are simpler, the textures have a lower quality, the frame rate is lower and there is no widescreen mode , despite that I had a lot of fun playing it and I'm happy that SEGA released this game for the PS2 after all, some time later I played the PS3 version, without a doubt the HD version is the best in the day-stages, but I feel that Werehog is better balanced in SD versions (Wii / PS2), the phases of Werehog in HD are simply too long. Anyway, on the HD versions, there is not much difference between them except the fact that the PS3 version can reach 60fps at times while the X360 version is stuck at 30fps, however it makes the X360 version more consistent, both versions may fall at 20fps at times and on the X360 you don't notice it as much as his maximum frame rate is 30fps, on PS3 on the other hand the game is a roller coaster at frame rate going from 20fps to 60fps at various times and it's impossible not to notice it.
The PS3/Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed is seen by many as the definitive version. If this game gets a remaster sometime in the future, it should be fusion of both the Wii/PS2 and the Xbox 360/PS3 versions
@@SilverSuns It's emulated. The freezes are caused by shader compilation, and even the PS3 version has the "Compiling Shaders" message on the bottom left at some points because of RPCS3. I dunno about Wii and PS2, Dolphin and PCSX2 are pretty good anyways, but the later gen versions are emulated.
It looks like it plays like the Rush games, has a resolution closer to the Advance games, and likely plays closer to a really bad Sonic flash game you might've played on Newgrounds in 2006.
The description says, "The story follows Sonic as he attempts to restore the world after his nemesis Doctor Eggman shatters it with a powerful... what?"
@@MineAnimator this was most likely run on an emulator or the video data stuttered off of their capture card. You can ask anyone and watch any video of live PS3 footage, the game lags. I have it for XBox 360 and it never lagged for me on both 360 and one. Only the night stages and higher detailed levels (like jungle joyride and Eggmanland) loose fps. 2:10 The PS3 got a different song arrangement, the XBOX 360 got extra props (trash? zinc plates?) on the left side LOL
It’s probably that the recording started somewhere different since Wii/PS2 have a countdown sound before starting up
For me this is the best Sonic 3D, however disappointing Werehog is, the day stages are so perfect, the story is simple but perfect for a Sonic game (Colors, Generations and Forces have sinned a lot in this aspect) the game has visuals incredible for the time and that aged really well and not to mention the magnificent soundtrack, it’s a pity that SEGA doesn’t want to port this game to the latest platforms.
@3rd Way you gotta be fucking kidding me if you think those Sonic stories are better 😐
The PS3/Xbox 360 version of Sonic Unleashed is seen by many as the definitive version.
If this game gets a remaster sometime in the future, it should be fusion of both the Wii/PS2 and the Xbox 360/PS3 versions
to me this game defined the term "gotta go fast"
Ah my childhood game
Yes, my childhood too
Same
What happened with the lag on the 360? Something with your capture card?
It is emulated on pc, I never had these problems with fps or textures like this video...
that was what I asked a few minutes ago XD
On my behalf, I didn't have these issues or even textures not loading, because there were several patches of grass the didn't load correctly
Are you saying that the thing he said was. X360 was ps3?
@@SilverSuns It's emulated. The freezes are caused by shader compilation, and even the PS3 version has the "Compiling Shaders" message on the bottom left at some points because of RPCS3. I dunno about Wii and PS2, Dolphin and PCSX2 are pretty good anyways, but the later gen versions are emulated.
The Random cuts to java version makes me giggle
I remember I have Sonic generations in playstation3
Guy with PS3/360: did you play Sonic Unleashed?
Guy who play on his phone: well, yeah
The PS3 one looks like it would be objectively the best, in terms of graphics at least.
It has a lot of lag, sadly.
@@aftertheelectrike1847 no it doesnt mine doesnt show lag how come yours does?
@@BespokeYT when playing it, it feels like it slows down at times
@@aftertheelectrike1847 oh
The Java looks like the DS Sonic games
Eeh not really it looks more like the GBA ones
It looks like it plays like the Rush games, has a resolution closer to the Advance games, and likely plays closer to a really bad Sonic flash game you might've played on Newgrounds in 2006.
@@mythosinfinite6736 As a veteran Sonic Unleashed java player.
I can sau u have summed it up correctly.
👍🏾
Not only does the PS3 version have better framerate. But I never realized it also has better lighting than the 360 one. And I have both versions
Depends on people, for example I dont like that much lightning, I prefer darker environment.
In this video for some reason the footage is using a emulator, which explain the laggy footage
He is using an emulator, 360 version is pretty much 360 but stable and slightly prettier.
60fps on ps3 vs 30fps on 360, stuff like that which digital foundry never even mentioned in their face offs back then when it mattered.
It's suprising to see there are many versions of sonic unleashed and they are very different.
The description says, "The story follows Sonic as he attempts to restore the world after his nemesis Doctor Eggman shatters it with a powerful... what?"
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
He said it was THIS BIIIG, and I said "that's disgusting".
I had the demo of the java version on a old phone a long time ago, I think I was 8 or 9.
Lol boomer
CAN U PLEASE DO A COMPARISON VIDEO OF SONIC 4 EPISODE 1 FOR MOBILE, WII, XBOX 360 AND PS3
Not a game worth playing tho
@@eclipsestrange4691 opinions, I like sonic 4

Me, playing on the Wii and seing PS3 and Xbox 369 clips :
*W H A T ? ?*
I grew up on the Wii version, so seeing the PS3 and Xbox versions gave me whiplash
Holy shit the java version is so nostalgic
Never knew it had version for Wii and PS2 and mobile.
5:27 did you accidentally mistaken ps3 with xbox360?Or is it your device got heaten up like that?Because it isnt that laggy.
He's emulating the 360 version, and very poorly at that. If you look at the grass just before he goes through the loop, the textures fail to load.
I just found this channel and it is amazing
I have the Wii version, great memories
How about...Sonic Heroes next???
PC vs PS2 vs XBOX vs Gamecube
It's my childhood ❤️
Chip : Huurghhh... SUPREME
Sonic : HEY, WHAT ABOUT YOUR MEMORY ?!
I’m guessing he’s supposed to be spinning at 2:41 on Java but to me it looks like he’s doing an air Harlem shake
i like how sonic just says
"what the heck is going on?!"
“Why am I shifting between 4 different graphics?!”
@@LightningBug04 lmao
"WHY AM I LAGGING IN ONE OF THE VERSIONS?!"
Ps3 has the preferred lighting in some scenes but Xbox 360 has a more stable frame rate.
5:23 no
@@MineAnimator this was most likely run on an emulator or the video data stuttered off of their capture card. You can ask anyone and watch any video of live PS3 footage, the game lags. I have it for XBox 360 and it never lagged for me on both 360 and one. Only the night stages and higher detailed levels (like jungle joyride and Eggmanland) loose fps. Any game on console with frame skip (like Unleashed) will never lag (plays game at slow motion) but just look more like a fast slideshow.
1:56 PLEASE GIVE ME AN EXTENDED VERSION OF THIS VERSION OF THE SONG
Java is the best version i wish they will do a remake for it
The Wii version is what I grew up with, and to me it is still one of the best versions out there
Ah yes sonic unleashed for java game of the year 500 years in a row
Lowkey the Java could’ve been a ds or gameboy version of unleashed
