There's actually a homebrew that let's you play this java port on a DS or DSi through emulation but i'm not sure which version is compatible with this game. According to the emulator I was missing a file on my flashcard for Unleashed but it's nice to see it possibly run
@@somecallmesean_ unfortunately that emulator can't do that. If the screen Is too big, it'll just cut off on the main (top) screen. Also, update ~~ It does run on a DS if you use the right version of the game. It does have many issues; some of the textures have a pink box around them, text is completely unreadable and only displays a bunch of Ñ's, and the emulator can neither save nor produce sound. But it's Sonic Unleashed on the DS, can you complain??
When I was a kid I found it so odd they never made Unleashed for DS. Someone made a fake Unleashed DS port video (just the Nokia game on the top screen) and I was wondering how to buy it.
There are many versions of this game, this one is very complete but there were others that were much simpler, like the one I bought for my cell phone at the time.
What I find most interesting about this version is the story differences. There are lines ripped straight from the main versions, but there are also completely new lines and plot points. For one, Sonic seems considerably more shaken up by his transformation into the Werehog in the new lines, being confused and even anxious about it. Also, some lines insinuate that the transformation makes Sonic more irritable and destructive, contradicting Chip's statement that Sonic was too strong to lose himself- a statement from the main versions that was ironically one of the few lines to make it into this version. Speaking of Chip, his memory loss issue is sorta glossed over and never really solved. Guess he'll be an amnesiac for life in this version of the game- but at least he doesn't get sealed inside the planet this time. The lack of Eggmanland also makes for a rather funny exchange- in Unleashed, Sonic states that he'll "never understand Eggman's tastes" in regards to the place. That line is ported over to this version, but used with the Mazuri environment, making it seem like Sonic dislikes the Middle Eastern architecture. Beyond that, there's Dark Gaia's name being shortened to just Gaia, perhaps due to Chip never being revealed to be Light Gaia. Dark Gaia wouldn't have had a counterpart, so they may have just decided to go with Gaia for that reason. This results in the "light and dark" monologue at the end of the game not really making a lot of sense. Gaia is also not explained very much, simply being the name to a power that Eggman is apparently using. Finally, there's the fact that you collect Chaos Emeralds and yet Super Sonic never makes an appearance. Of course, all of what I just pointed out can be chalked up to the various limitations of this version. It clearly wouldn't be worth it to put work into making the story super consistent, nor did they have the resources to make Eggmanland or a dramatic Super Sonic fight. Still, I found them interesting enough to mention.
Y'know for what they were working with this is a damn fine recreation. Maybe it feels worse in the hands since I haven't touched this game in well over a decade but I can't imagine it being too bad
Have I gone completely mad or does this actually look decent. Like I’m sure it doesn’t control very well, but for a phone game this is pretty legit. Each level is varied and has different gimmicks that set them apart. Maybe this guy is just a god at playing Sonic Unleashed on the Nokia but this looked fun to me.

Apotos feels more like Water Palace in this game, I still believe they're kind of the same place (I mean, both Water Palace and Windmill Isle being in Apotos)
idk if water palace was ever given a general location in the world, but during the unleashed adaptation in the archie comics, blue coast zone (from rivals 2) was shown to be in apotos also, there was a sonic the fighters subplot during the unleashed arc that took place in casino park, which was in empire city
2:00 something I find rather interesting is that this game has giant rings that are scattered around the different zones and acts, quite similar to the ones found in sonic 3 and knuckles. These giant rings don't send you to a special stage, but rather they explode into a large cluster of smaller rings that you can collect. While the execution is slightly different, it's cool that they reused a concept that at the time of this game's development, was only seen in a couple of the classic games.
@@beryl2487I played that one too, but with Sonic 1 java port. Tbh, it's more challenging to finish the level as fast as possible before the game force quit itself (thankfully, there was auto save)😂
Are these day levels actually original to this? Because the design here looks WAY too accurate to Sonic Rush's style, such that I'm wondering if these are just straight-up Rush level layouts copied almost verbatim into this. It's especially noticeable with Apotos Day, that literally just seems like Water Palace from Rush (kinda fitting since those locations already looked like very to each other). These look really suspiciously like they're just Rush stages with an Unleashed skin slapped on.

The Corby could run the K800i version, but it was slightly slower and around 10 to 15% of the bottom screen was covered by those generic touchscreen controls we would get on apps not meant to run on touchscreen phones.
