I think procrastination is a common problem (it certainly is for me and for my friend group too ;-;), so here's what I've found that helps: 1. *identify your distractions.* For me, going on electronic devices are distracting - it's easy to open a new tab and delve into some news story or youtube video, or check snapchat on my phone. 2. eliminate these distractions by force. Eg I've put my phone in another room, gotten my sister to change all my social media passwords and log out of all sessions so I can't access social media without asking her, etc. 3. *keep a study journal.* Just get any old notebook and write down what you've done each day. It really opens my eyes to how much work I've been doing each day, so it's harder for me to lie to myself. 4. *take breaks in an different environment or different device.* I definitely need to work on this, otherwise I'll do 5 minutes of work and an hour of binging dramas on youtube again (which was what happened yesterday 😅) 5. *know yourself.* You also need to know what works for you. I guess you can find out through experience and self reflection. I know that if I'm productive in the morning, I'm usually productive throughout the day, so I'll try and make sure I start the day with work, no matter how dead I feel. 6. *inspiration.* I've also got a cork board with loads and loads of motivational study quotes written on post it notes pinned to it, so I can see it when I study (it sounds kinda lame tho, but I don't know how else to force myself ahaha). If you know what you want to do when you're older or anything like that, that's also useful to keep in mind, especially if you wanna do a competitive subject like I'm hoping I can study law (a big fat maybe tho XD). 7. *work in shorter, timed sessions with breaks in between instead of long periods of constant work* this is why the pomodoro technique can be helpful for some. I personally prefer a variant of it: yes, the short work periods help ease me into the frame of mind for work at the start of the day, but as I start to get in the flow of things, taking regular breaks really messes up my flow and rhythm, so I prefer then to switch to longer sessions with some breaks (tho I haven't entirely decided on it yet. As you can see, studying can be a pretty personal process). Well, I hope that helped. :)
This really helped! My laziness and procrastination always get the better of me and I end up only doing 1/3 of my work because I got distracted by something on my phone. I’ve recently started to take it seriously since I’m in Year 10 now and shouldn’t take iGCSE lightly, but it’s been quite hard. When I was in primary and had to do that big exam before I graduated to middle school, I had no problems at all and studied very well. I seem to have gone lazier as I grew older which is a pain. However, I did start finding a way to eliminate distractions! When I start work I make sure to keep my phone in a different room so I don’t extend my hand to grab my phone halfway through my work out of muscle memory. I also make sure to log out of UA-cam first, so when I go in to UA-cam out of muscle memory once again, I would see that I’m logged out and realise what I was doing and return to my work. I’ve also stopped listening to music while I’m working (which is a huge pain, I’ve been so used to doing that for years, a good thing however, since it stops me from getting distracted). Thanks to your other advices, my studying should go smoothly from now on (or as smooth as it can get)! I hope your dream for studying law goes well! Also, huge thanks to the person who made the video, it really helped too.
@@foundawayout5622 UA-cam is definitely a big distraction for me, especially ever since I started posting videos and things, so I will try and do the logging out thing that you do hehe. I’m a year 11 now and about to do my mocks after Christmas. Something that I do every single day after every lesson is spend five minutes making flash cards of that lesson. It takes no time at all but in the long run it’s saved me hours. I would have otherwise spent all my revision time making cards but instead I can be revising the cards, doing questions and covering particularly difficult areas!!
@@cryptic_9038 Thanks!! It certainly saves time, I’m revising for my mocks right now as I have them next week and honestly if I hadn’t done this I’d have mountains to do and I’d be too stressed.
Tip: whenever you see ‘explain’ and you see [4] or [5] or [6] (4+ marks), use the ‘annoying toddler’ method. To use this method, start with a point and then use a linkage (such as ‘therefore’,’so’,’as a result’,etc) and then add a reason or what this point means. Then start a sentence with a linkage and explain what the previous point means . Keep doing this until you have a comprehensive explanation for your argument. Make sure to add evidence to back up your point and get all the marks (like case study detail for geography). This technique is mostly useful for subjects like Geography, History, and Religious Studies. For any of the 3 sciences, you will need to include evidence of scientific language and link back to the question. Chronology is key. Diagrams may help.

Mindmaps are hella useful negl. But by notes - I mean literally rewriting a textbook
@@Revishaan oh ok fair enough 👍
Omfg I’m in year 11 now and I’m panicking because GCSEs aren’t far away and I didn’t revise enough for my last mocks
Good luck! You will do fab
Omg I'm so early, hiii
what anki app is it because on ios there is the one you pay for and another one which is called anki app. It’s orange (with more reviews) and the other one is grey.
It is free if you get it on a desktop
Would u say looking at printed notes reading them then using flashcard and answering practice questions good? Also Is making mindmaps good
Yes that is alright - but remember to use anki -
Yes mindmaps are great, if you can use them. Some people use mindmaps, even though they can't really understand how they work.
if you can hack mindmaps, then use them. If not, then don't
is there a way I can find a condensed version of a specification?
Not too sure - but Physics and Maths tutor?
Exam QA is also useful for combined science (science) and triple which have tons of past papers too
Hi do u teach mass weight and resultant forces in physics x
Yes :)
is it possible for me to get 8 and 9s if I get 6s and 7s at the moment , I'm in year 11 btw
Yes, it is! Trust me - keep going and do past papers!
I only got 4-4 this mock and want to get 6-6 can I get it with 3 hrs a day of science and weekends 5hrs a day?
Yep 100%
When you mean notes do you mean the notes taken in classrooms?
Will you ever put your anki flashcards online for free ??
I wishhh - I lost all of my GCSE notes though
@@Revishaan noooo omg that's actually so sad :(
@@Revishaan wait why? that’s what i’m scared of with online flashcards - they’re less reliable like if something happens to them online
@@lucy-zn8yh Because I forgot to make an Anki account. If you make one...all is good!
i just dont have motivation to work but how do i overcome it, like ik discipline and all that, but how do i get myslef to sit down without getting bored or distractions n start working 😱
Get off your phone lol maybe start a UA-cam channel or a TikTok account? Related to studying

Hey what's up
So I don’t agree with these immature and useless tips, personally I feel that all you have to do is be Aneela arshad, once you have mastered the art of being aneela arshad you will succeed, no need to get all worked up.
GRIFTER
most annoying thing is i know i knowwww i shouldve started revising from september and only started in march 😩 I think i got complacent cuz i got 6s and 7s for december mocks without revising :(((( I wish i failed them all just so i woke up earlier 🙄
