The Sopranos - Feech La Manna Is Out Of Prison
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 жов 2024
- DiMeo family captain Feech La Manna is released from prison after serving 20 years. In this scene, he meets with Tony for the first time since than and they have breakfast with Junior and Bobby.
A lot of people are confused on why Feech La Manna was such a short character on the Sopranos, and the answer comes from the actor the played him. Robert Loggia was a popular actor and played the role of Frank Lopez (Tony Montanas original boss) in Scarface, which is why David Chase really wanted Loggia to appear in the Sopranos as Feech. The thing is the shooting of the first scene Loggia was supposed to appear in was only supposed to take about an hour, but filming lasted over eight hours because Loggia couldn't remember his lines. See Loggia would be diagnosed with Alzheimers years later in 2010, but personally I believe this was his first signs of Alzheimers. Loggia would later state that it was increasingly difficult to play the character. Feech was most likely supposed to have a bigger roll, but Chase choose to write the character out early. The thing that I personally believe is amazing is you have no idea how much Loggia is struggling in these scenes because hes KILLING the part. I mean where Paulie meets with Feech at his bakery and Feech just throws Paulie out makes it feel like he was some crazy fighter that you never messed with. I really hope when people watch the scenes with Feech understand that while the character was very brief Loggia did an amazing job at giving this performance. Take a moment and give respect to Robert Loggia whose life was acting, and fought like hell to bring the character of Feech La Manna alive.
Amazing info, thanks for sharing!
Robert Loggia was a great actor. If healthy he could have lasted much longer and added much more to the series.
Feech would have beat the dogshit out of Phil. Would also loved to have seen Feech during the gay Vito stuff.
Thankyou.
Shits pretty cool and and sad at the same time. Won’t ever watch his scenes in the Sopranos the same now

@@wrestlingbear1188 also it probably helps if you're a made guy. In reality I'm sure everyone knew who feech was and kept a respectful distance
Steve Schirripa (Bobby) spoke about this scene recently on the "Talking Sopranos" Podcast, saying that Robert Loggia (Feech) was having trouble delivering the lines, and that it really extended the shooting time, but his main point was that James Gandolfini was very patient and accommodating with Loggia, and didn't blow a gasket over it like some other lead actors might. Gandolfini's workload on The Soprano's was much higher than many others and any overrun on scenes would likely impact him more than anybody else, but Schirripa said he was generous with Loggia and that this was quite typical of Gandolfini and how he treated his fellow actors.
because JG knew he was in the presence of greatness. Loggia added another dimension to an already multi faceted body of work. Chase knew it and so did JG
@@fergusdonaghy3124 even if he forgot his lines his performance and energy is off the charts here, great career send off
JG was coked out no matter what so he didn’t care

Loggia was sadly in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease as to why he has some problems in delivering his lines . He was such a great actor , Alzheimer's is cruel.
Feech goes away for 20 years and the biggest change for him is women shaving their snatch lmao
How does Feech know what Girl Scouts snatches like like by the way?

I've never understood why women shave their vaginas. It's an immediate turn-off. I want a woman, not a little girl.

I’m glad you picked up on this - it shows what utter sociopaths they are.
@@stevebrizzleyou don’t have to be a sociopath to enjoy a story someone tells about the time they beat somebody up. I enjoyed and laughed at the story myself, and I’m just a regular guy.
@@adewilson132 I think you’re confusing fiction with real life. The response when listening to a fictional gangster saying this is amusement (I laughed too). But I think your response would be different if a friend or family member was recalling this story - I personally would find it disturbing. The fact that Junior and the others don’t find it disturbing when their friend recalls this story shows how sociopathic they are.
He had early onset alzheimers while filming these scenes and kept forgetting his lines, which I think is a testament to how incredible Loggia was as an actor. He killed this role and you would never have known he was struggling.
I love the legend Feech. One of the best characters on the show. These guys don't quit the life until life quits them and Feech was testament to that, yet still loveable in a cool grandfather way. You can see when Tony is wiping away a tear upon realizing the old man has to go, he's asking himself, "THIS is what being Boss is?" He had to throw his superhero away.
Hardly early onset

@@porksoda1062 Yeah, Junior was always happy when he had one of his old friends around, Bobby and for example.
Feech is just one of those guys who pathologically comes up with those bullshit anecdotes that makes himself look like a god and everyone else look like a sniveling little shit. Everyone knows one of those guys. You always know to take their stories with a massive boulder of salt.
+Schrodinger i've encountered pathological ego-boosting anecdotal lying of that sort at near epidemic levels in two places in my life: in Cuba where i grew up, and in the Marine Corps which i joined here in the states later. I think it's something the cubans and marines did to overcompensate for existing in a state of oppression, or something.
The thing is tho, some of those guys got so freaking good at telling bullshit stories, that i often didn't care if it was bullshit or not, because it was so entertaining. I have a friend who is so amazingly good at it, that i believe everything he says every single time. and it's not till later in the day when i'm alone and i think about it where i'm like, "wait a minute, that's fucking bullshit!" lol
+Schrodinger They are called Arieses.
feech was probably a baloney smoker in the can.
+Schrodinger Feech was a living legend. Shame they had to get rid of him. He would have been a great addition to the crew.
whatsgoingon07 I agree he's a sociopathic killer, but he also strikes me as a heinous bullshit artist.
-Tony remarks, "When isn't he (in the middle of a story?"
-The "first thing you do in prison" story is a cliche. Feech is clearly insane enough to fight anyone and is in good shape for his age, but he's also an old, old man. While I'm sure he could defend himself, if he attacked the biggest dude in prison, unprovoked, he probably would not be able to take him down but would instead probably be beaten to a bloody pulp.

2:23 The nod Junior gives Tony as the go ahead to let Feech back in, loved it.
@Libertatem Veritas I think Feech was a special case since he was one of the "OG"-s. Tony had been making decisions without Juniors approval/knowledge since season 2. But when it came to bringing one of the oldies from Junior's time back, Tony looked to Junior for approval since Feech was from Junior's time.
@@RadeonX0X I'm pretty sure David Chase would shake your hand if he had the chance!
@@RadeonX0X Feech is an OG of Tony's own crew , but he is still in Junior's house. He is respecting his uncle as a person rather than the official boss. Feech is a made man after all (made in Italy no less) and not letting him in would be rather rude.
@Joe Owens I think the way to read it is that tony respects junior's opinion and his ability to gauge the popularity of a move. Plus, junior knows feech and what he's like - tony was too young when Feech went away to have a developed sense of the man.

Here is the thing. Feech was already in his mid 70's. He did 20 f@cking years in the can. So basically he was already old to go to prison. Once Feech got out he should have realized that a steady discreet income like a card game & sports betting should have been enough for him to keep going for a few more years , plus get along with Tony. However Feech was harboring a grudge towards Tony & he wanted a lot more like he was back in the day to the point where he might be in charge to get rid of Tony. Stupid old man he was.

DCFelix67 Bobby started to become like his old man as he went up the rankings.
jakep1979 he killed one guy rsrs Bobby was not the tough one. The sopranos makes believe even single mobster is a killer sociopath. But it’s not how it is. Some are regular crooks, especially those who work most on white collar crimes.
jakep1979 I like to think of Bobby Sr as having a similar personality to Paulie in Rocky in his younger years. What little we see of him seems to corroborate that. He was brash, temperamental, and difficult to get along with.

@@richardmorris7063 and Feech said that the main thing he couldn't get used to was how women "shaved their bush"...I guess that Brazilian wax thing wasn't around when Feech went into prison?
Feech if he had any sense, would of "eased his transition" made some money and lived a happy life, but he was still operating under the mentality of when he got locked up, the world was much different back then, and I don't think telling Feech that would of helped, he needed to realize that for himself, but sadly he was incarcerated, you're shielded from the day to day of life and how things work, so it was a sad ending for him, wisdom is something that can guide you through life, and if you don't have it, you're just a pinball banging off walls until you hit the drain, and to seriously fall for that shit when Chrissy and Benny visited truly showed how out of touch Feech really was, he couldn't sense that trap? "Beware of Greekss bearing gifts" and he's a seasoned street smart mafioso? c'mon...
“Code words, secret passages” 😂😂
I remember that line when Tony had that phone conversation with Carmine about whacking John.
