You can''t both elect to receive serve and choose which side you return on. Also, I'm confused as to why you don't mention using your tossing hand to shade the sun.
Hi Brad, You are absolutely correct! You get to choose one not both. Also, overlooked the toss hand as a possible option to block the sun. Certainly can work in some cases. Thanks for the contribution to the video. Best, John
Intriguing that. Me lm a Lefthander. To hit a full.on Top Spin Serve with the ball a fair way behind your head automatically changes your Service Action & in these merits throws up real problems for the Receiver judging plain of the Ball. Best of all this Ball toss stops any nature in haphazardly looking at or around the Sun. Mark
I find that my eyes are used to the sun after playing at noon at 35'C last summer right under the sun. Yeh it'd blind me a bit but not to the point that I can't see the ball and serve. The hat only blocks very little of the sun when the sun is right above your head.
Bad advice. Best thing to do is to block the sun with the tossing arm. Works every time. Just have to practice it a little bit. Not difficult. Change of toss actually will result in change of spin. You could do that...but I serve all first serves from the same toss.. Hats only work for the rally not the serve, since you have to lift your head anyway. Some players actually take OFF their hats for service games towards the sun so the change of light intensity is not so severe. Hats actually make serving worse.
