I happened upon this video and was sceptical all the way through, from the last bit of foil on the roll (blimey, I thought to myself, she’s not very prepared considering she planned this video), to the bits of masking tape (a bit on the clunky side, I was thinking at that stage), then so many different colours (it’s going to look like an explosion in a paint factory I decided), and sooo much paint (expensive!), then the great reveal and… wow! The end result is stunning! That came as a real surprise I must say. I’ll definitely try this technique and just hope it turns out as well. I’ve subscribed and look forward to more videos. 👍🏻
Thank you for encouraging people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, fear, and so much more to reach out to someone, to try something that makes you happy (you don’t necessarily know until you try something).
Hello, again. Each time that I watch you do this style of art it cheers me to think how clever you are . I’ve been laid low over the last couple of months, and they cheer me up no end.Thanks,Gilli. xxx
It indeed turned out Super Duper! Love the colors you used! It's absolutely lovely! Also loved your encouragement at the end to the "lonely hearts". We all need to check in on one another. That was very sweet and understanding of you. 💐🙏🏽💞
🥰. Wow this piece is so pretty!! I hope you're feeling better today Ma'am. Also, I did a test pc with just paint and glue and the flowers turned out really nice. I like the paint and glue bc you cannot get the same thickness after I add the water and then my flowers lose definition. But with just paint and the glue...im getting better results more akin to flowers like yours so im very pleased!!! Until tomorrow...CHEERS😊 Julie Ann
Art is beautiful in any shape or form and there's no need for negative comments about the way she went about it with her choice of colours. If you ever decide to try to make this - just use the colours of your choice and see what the end results wil be.
Wish I'd thought of the foil the other evening when I went on a paint pouring frenzy. You should see my paint room! 🤣 Neat and tidy, huh... where's the fun in that. I get cracks too, lots of times. If I like my design and colors well enough, I add a little glitter to my varnish, Modge Podge, or if I REALLY LOVE the painting, I glitter and resin it. Hides the cracks, most of the time. If not, I just go with the crackle effect. I do scrape too. LOVE your gorgeous painting. WOW! Thank you, Gilly!
Beautiful indeed! I got inspired by watching you do this, so I went ahead and gave it a try and it came out really pretty. Thank you for sharing this, absolutely stunning.❤
That is beautiful ❤ My 3rd child just turned a year on Valentine's day and I was wanting to make him an acrylic dip painting ro put on the wall above his pack n play so he's got something new to look at. I colored a couple of pictures for him but I believe he'd love something with a bunch of bright colors 😊
I grew up calling it “Tin-foil”, lol. I know it’s no longer made from tin, but I believe that’s why my Granny (Great-Grandma), Grandma & Momma always called it tin-foil. It was most certainly being made from tin when my Granny was still alive. ☺️ *I’m in North Carolina, U.S.
Wow! 😮 Very nice!! Now i know what to create for those friends that have EVERYTHING! ONE OF A KIND "CRAFT-FOIL" PAINTING!! THANK YOU for sharing. 2/14/24
Wonder! It looks sort of like like feathers, I love it!! I just love listening to you while you paint. You’ve been a great inspiration to me. Thank you for all that you share.
That came out beautifully. I take regular paper afterwards and smush it on left over paint. I use these papers for die cutting to use on card making. I hope it is a great idea for some.
I'm in NZ and I gesso all mine but some still come out with cracks. I got an aircon unit to keep temperature even, really good results now. Used to live in Brisbane so know about the icky humidity. 😅
Because it was actually tin not aluminum. Tin was good for us, research aluminum and you'll be shocked at how bad it is for us and then get angry and push to bring back just tin
I’m in the US, we still call it tin foil. We also pronounce aluminum differently (al-U-minam). But of course we have a lot of different ways in words and pronunciation. Part of the fun in watching these videos is listening to lovely accents.
Awesome. I love “Aluminium”! For those who love to correct people’s pronunciation, look at her Aluminium box…..it is spelled the way Gilly has pronounced it.
You know, if you soak your canvas paint side down in super hot hot water over night, keep changing it & heating it up - all or most of the paint will come off the canvas
We just simply called it "Tin Foil" in Alberta, Canada. Haha! Although I do believe on the package it says Aluminum Foil (like our southern neighbours). 1:46
Google it. It is spelled “aluminum” in America only, and “aluminium” everywhere else. No one is incorrect in the pronunciation. Guess we Americans need to be unique. 😂
Ive done it on glass. Fun, but sometimes the bottom is prettier than the top, vs versa...If you want on a plate, do on bottom side of glass plate. Either mask off edges leave clear or drag paint out in sunburst design. Have fun.
Gosh, it’s looking such an ugly coloured mess at the moment…getting better with the very pale lemon cream then black….looking forward to how it turns out cos others’ commented said it’s great! *WOW! That was unexpected! Fabulous result…& the balloon technique! Very clever! Looks like butterflies from here
That’s how I do my free tutorials and have over 200,000 subscribers that I don’t have complaints of my chatter thankfully 😅 some people never hear other talk I guess and enjoy my chatter
@campaigner1016 Only in Am-er-i-ca ….Never assume. Instead, allow the first 3 letters of ‘assume’ to provide a great reminder why we shouldn’t - one for you, and one for me. 😂 Seriously though, the word is spelled and pronounced differently in Europe. 😊
Amazing artwork 😍 👌 ❤. I love it.... Just beautiful. Sooo amazing how it turned out. Great work, girl.... Thanks for letting me watch your artwork......
From the viewing on screen, the blue part (top of my screen) looked like a beautiful waterfall!! In a seabed of gorgeous flowers! Great job! I HAVE to try this!
Haha 😅 thanks for your honesty and sticking with me until the reveal 😊 enjoy your time playing in paint as I do, thank you for subscribing 😊
Same here!
It’s spelled aluminum in Canada too so it’s not exclusive to the USA.
worked so good anyways
I am eager to try this as a background, and add creatures to it. Does the canvas dry reasonably flat?
Thank you for encouraging people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, fear, and so much more to reach out to someone, to try something that makes you happy (you don’t necessarily know until you try something).
I see butterflies flying around a beautiful garden full of flowers 😊 💕
The balloon accents look like dandelions. Such a happy picture. Thank you.

That's fabulous Gilly amazing colour palette 💙💙💙
Gilly you are an amazing artist. This is gorgeous. ❤❤❤
My first words was WOW! That turned out awesome. I thought it would muddy. Beautiful ❤❤!!!!

Great idea!! Thanks so much 😅
Oooooooh! That turned out so cool!!! I love that you shred this experiment with us. I love the colors. Gorgeous.
Thanks so much!

That is awesome! Children love doing this style it’s easy for them
Wow - so stunning and a fantastic way to use up your paint. Thank you for sharing
Thanks so much 😊

Oh, and we still call it tin-foil….. Habits!! Haha
I’m in Canada where we still call it tin foil too.
Interesting!😅
Still tin foil in Scotland too 😊
It is gorgeous! I love seeing your dips. They are always so beautiful and fun.💜
Thank you so much! 😊
So pretty. Reminds me of feathers
Wow, beautiful I’m amazed it turned out like that, not what I expected.
Thank you! 😊
Wow! 😮 Very nice!! Now i know what to create for those friends that have EVERYTHING! ONE OF A KIND "CRAFT-FOIL" PAINTING!! THANK YOU for sharing. 2/14/24
Amazing colours all go so well together ❤
Thanks so much 😊
That is absolutely gorgeous!
Magical🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Wow it's amazing....turned out so beautiful
Thank you so much 😊
Wonder! It looks sort of like like feathers, I love it!! I just love listening to you while you paint. You’ve been a great inspiration to me. Thank you for all that you share.
Thank you so much! I’m happy that you are inspired and on your own art journey 😅
I enjoy your commentary during your videos. I haven't seen the aluminum foil technique before. The outcome was beautiful. I'm inspired.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🤗
Looks like a colorful flower garden.
That came out beautifully. I take regular paper afterwards and smush it on left over paint. I use these papers for die cutting to use on card making.
I hope it is a great idea for some.
I was delightfully surprised when you flipped the canvas! Lovely!
My Grandbabies have tons of toys, but love to play with papertowel tubes, and boxes and empty sugar containers! Lol
I talk to my cats through them and they get to cocking their heads to the right and left. So cute ❤
Turned out BEAUTIFUL!! I'M pleasantly surprised. Very cool!❤
Looks like feathers 😊
Felicitation madame gilly c'est magnifique j'adore la façon dont vous l'avez encadrer c'est wow wow wonderful ❤❤❤
Merci beaucoup 😄
Beautiful!!! What does the crinkled up foil actually do?
Gives a texture effect on dried canvas
So lovely. And your caring wishes to all your viewers are even lovelier. Hope you're surrounded by people who appreciate you properly!
Put gesso on your canvases to prevent the cracking. It’s like a primer before you paint.
My canvas is pre gesso 😅
I'm in NZ and I gesso all mine but some still come out with cracks. I got an aircon unit to keep temperature even, really good results now.
Used to live in Brisbane so know about the icky humidity. 😅
What exactly does the crinkled foil do for the finished product. I didn't see anything on the painting that had the foil effect on it.
It adds a texture like effect in dry piece 😅
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Thank you so much!!
Back in the day, it was called “tin” foil.
Maybe the tin foil is called different things in different lands.
Gorgeous and so innovative! I'm going to try it!
Have fun!
I just found my next project. It is so beautiful!!
Have fun!
What a great idea to use foil underneath. Beautiful again Gilly. ❤
Yes! Thank you! 😊
In ireland its tin foil I love to spray it gold
I love your honesty, love, you're refreshingly humble. Happy that this turned out for you. It looks very nice. Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome 🤗 thank you ☺️
Cursed canvas no more, it turned out so pretty 🩷😍
I absolutely love this!!!! Thank you for sharing!
The choice of colors turned out beautifully. I am amazed 😊❤
Thank you! 😊
Thank you! 😊
Awesome. I love “Aluminium”! For those who love to correct people’s pronunciation, look at her Aluminium box…..it is spelled the way Gilly has pronounced it.
We do say it different here in the US. But even here there are tons of ways to pronounce so many words, it's so crazy.
lol 😊
WOW!!!!!!! That is STUNNING!!
Ah-loo-min-um foil here in US.
Breath taking!
You know, if you soak your canvas paint side down in super hot hot water over night, keep changing it & heating it up - all or most of the paint will come off the canvas
Ok 😅 thank you 🙏
Why would she want to do that?
Sounds like more work than scraping is.
I think they’re talking about dried paint but I may be wrong. That is great to know! Thanks for the info.
Turned out awesome
We just simply called it "Tin Foil" in Alberta, Canada. Haha! Although I do believe on the package it says Aluminum Foil (like our southern neighbours). 1:46
Foil or foily here in Oz is wot call for small amount of marijuana wrap in aluminium foil. In NZ they called them tin or tinny.
We call it tin foil or foil in the US too. I love the different pronunciations.
Wow!! Great job!
Google it. It is spelled “aluminum” in America only, and “aluminium” everywhere else. No one is incorrect in the pronunciation. Guess we Americans need to be unique. 😂
So true 🤗🤗
We can't even step in with the rest of the world's measuring system. 😂😂
We broke it down because we couldn't pronounce the word😂😂😂❤
Fascinating thanks for sharing.
Aluminum in Canada as well.
Looks like a field of proteas. Lovely.
hello beautiful video, can this technique be don on glass like a plate.
May be difficult on any thing but flat surface but you can try 😉
Ive done it on glass. Fun, but sometimes the bottom is prettier than the top, vs versa...If you want on a plate, do on bottom side of glass plate. Either mask off edges leave clear or drag paint out in sunburst design. Have fun.
Gosh, it’s looking such an ugly coloured mess at the moment…getting better with the very pale lemon cream then black….looking forward to how it turns out cos others’ commented said it’s great!
*WOW! That was unexpected! Fabulous result…& the balloon technique! Very clever! Looks like butterflies from here
The easy creative project gets a 'like' the kind thoughtful support aspect made me subscribe
Aww thank you 🙏
We in the US say uh loom uh num foil .
I had to start pronouncing it the same way Gilly does when I was a child. I kept adding extra "ums' 🤣 al loom min num num 🙄😝
Yes we know - there are many words in the English language that Americans mispronounce.
That's because you don't spell it correctly 😅
Yeah, and in the US, we call it a zee bra instead of a zeb ra.
I guess I'm from the only part of the US that pronounce it TinFoil...strange.
Merci beaucoup Gilly pour ce partage .
I call it Tin foil.. uk.
Absolutely adorable
This is beautiful thanks for sharing 👏🏼👏🏼
You are so welcome
It looks like peacock feathers.
Wow..what a beautiful surprize!
I must try this. Thank you. You're delightfull.
My pleasure 😊 enjoy 😊
Takes a long time to actually get to it. Turned out beautifully, but a wee much chatter. IF you wanted the truth.
That’s how I do my free tutorials and have over 200,000 subscribers that I don’t have complaints of my chatter thankfully 😅 some people never hear other talk I guess and enjoy my chatter
Very beautiful painting :)
Thank you so much 😀
Please remove music from videos….it’s very distracting from your lovely voice!
Agreed, but the music is likely good for her process.
Noted
I found you by luck, I am so glad I did, watching you was a joy and I'm going to have a go with foil. Keep bringing inspiring art. Thank you
Your most welcome 🤗
Tin foil lol
Turned out great Kate !! 😃 I'm going to try my luck with it. Thanks for sharing :)
Have fun! GILLY 😅
It’s Al-um-i-num - no phenonimium here.
I'm always stunned by the results of your work, and I love your approach to art and creating something we love. Blessings to you!
You are so welcome

Thank you very much! 😊
Just plain WOW.
Beautiful! At first it worried me that you used so many different colors, but they all help make each other pop. Very well done.
Thank you so much!
Absolutely stunning.. well done. ❤️
Thank you so much!
SUPER PRETTY!!!!!! I’m so tired of everyone doing just pours with cells❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
Thanks Gilly haven’t watch any posts for ages. Looks fabulous.
Welcome back!
From the viewing on screen, the blue part (top of my screen) looked like a beautiful waterfall!! In a seabed of gorgeous flowers! Great job! I HAVE to try this!
