The wood grain tool is so helpful. One tip is paint a lighter wood color, and let it dry and then go back with a darker wood color and drag the tool lightly over it.
If you pull off your tape at a 90 degree angle ON THE SAME PLANE AS THE TAPE, it comes off easier and with fewer tears because the force is distributed over a greater area and the adhesive doesn't bond with the same strength at that angle. A hair dryer blowing ahead of your pull can also help.
My grandson spray painted my car with black spray paint, my neighbor suggested that I use WD40 to clean it off, and it worked beautifully! You just have to leave it on for about 5 minutes, & then wipe it off. I was so grateful!!
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush Basically, WD40 is silicone based, so I'd think that just getting the silicone stuff people use for acrylic pouring and using that would be a LOT cheaper, although I haven't tried it. Just a thought, WD40 is EXPENSIVE!!
After a day of painting/spray painting I'll wash my hands with WD-40. Then I'll wash the WD-40 off with isopropyl alcohol. Gets about 90% of the paint off my skin. Doesn't do much under the fingernails... but I don't really try that hard ;) .
Wd-40 and even mosquito spray with dete will remove dried and wet paint, sharpie marker and any type of oil laquer , enamel based stains and paints and markers off of anything
Mosquito spray will also remove spray paints and sharpie marker off of anything that's a hard surface non cloth or soft materials like cloth. And will remove it off leather as well
Latex & acrylic tips Try using a glaze for the wood grain tool instead of full strength paint. Plus, the tips on other comments. Another way to marble is to brush the general lines on and spray it with a mist of isopropyl alcohol. Kind of like your spray paint & alcohol video. That will give a nice foggy edge plus a mottled effect. Then pull a thin brush through in some places to add dimension. Do small areas like 2 - 3 square feet to keep the wet edges. Use an ice cube tray to mix small batches of colors that you'll need throughout your project. Cover tightly with plastic wrap or foil & it will last up to a week. Use a rubber spatula to get the last of the paint out of a can. Dollar store has different sizes & shapes. - When the paint builds up at the top on the can despite being careful, run 2" tape around the top of the can & fold it over on the lid to create a seal. If you know it may be over a year before you'll need it, use a good duct tape, or the aluminum duct tape. That aluminum tape also is the best seal for caulk tubes! I enjoy your videos! Try using a nail and hammering it into the indent where the lid fits into a can of paint. That will allow the paint to flow back into the can of paint after you are done pouring the paint out of the can. Try using rubbing alcohol to remove fairly fresh acrylic paint from things. Love knowing Matte medium will keep paint from going under take when making tape lines. Thanks!
Cling film: place a layer of plastic wrap or a cut-down plastic bag over the top of the can before you seal up the lid, this helps create a tight seal, creates a barrier against metal-to-metal corrosion, and also makes it easier to “cleanly” open the can when the time comes. If I have a paint can that’s still 3/4 full or completely full, I always store them upside down. Keeps the paint from creating that clumpy film on top. Great tips. The trick with the dryer sheet does work. First you must start with very hot water, stir it well once the dryer sheet has time to release some of its good stuff. Every once in awhile pick up the brush and stir. Leave over night. Next day try brraking up the brush and do it again. I find it best if you can put a lid on it in order to keep the heat it. While using painters tape on the top edge of a paint can; The 'V' can work with 'wide' tape, or you could lay the tape side by side to make it wider... Be sure to press the tape down on both the inner ring and the outer ring to create a seal on each... Like when you used that board for all three of your 'paint' projects. Painters tape is specifically made so you can press it down to prevent 'bleeding' under the tape, and still be able to pull it up. Try using a wooden handle paint brush. You're plastic one, had a gap in it.. I think that's why it oozed out on the sides. It should be solid, so the paint has nowhere to go.

Murphy's Oil Soap is supposed to remove dried paint. I don't think you add water. Leave overnight. I see people commenting on it all the time. I'm pretty good about not letting paint dry in my brushes. I put them in a water jar if I have to take a break. And then just use another brush when I start up again. Or, if I have to, I have a special sponge to absorb the water and then dry it with paper towels so it doesn't water down the paint.
I’ve used Murphy’s Oil Soap on acrylic and latex paint that’s dried on brushes for weeks and it works just glop it on bristles and put in warm water cover just bristles over night or few days sometimes❤
So I watched this in fast forward 2x speed! You are hilarious! When you touched the hot glue, totally relate lol and the red paint on the paint brush, coming out the handle part - thank you! I will try the wd40 hack, I'm sure 😊
I made a wood look rocking thing like you have. I made it by using an empty tp roll and made the grain look with my glue gun. I made a full faux fireplace mantle and it held up great.
I love your hack videos. I especially liked the last hack showing how to put the WD40 top onto a spray paint. I wanted to try that myself, and now that I know it works, I can't wait to try it.
Thanks for a good laugh and awesome tips! Try putting your crusty brush in 91% alcohol, but don't leave it to long the alcohol will destroy the adhesive holding the bristols in! I use Murphy's Soap and Dawn to clean my brushes, but if I accidentally leave on out, alcohol to the rescue!!
I had a van, years ago, which I used as a test for painting techniques. For the instrument cluster panel (close to the size of the glove compartment door) ... I took both out of the van. Then I painted them both the same color. Then for the hack, I took plastic (I used the scrap from model car building) ... I held the instrument cluster and glove box door (freshly painted sides facing down ...) lit on fire, the plastic, and held it beneath the fresh paint ... so that the spidery smoke ... only ... landed on the fresh paint. Then I let the paint dry ... and once fully dry, I clear coated the items. The result, was wispy, smoke on the paint, and the clear, just kept the smoke from wiping off. A real cool easy and cheap effect, for smaller pieces. Though I contemplated a larger area, on the side of the van, using the same technique, but with a very slow fan, or possibly even blowing through a straw, gently pushing the smoke onto the paint.
VERY cool idea @Orionbennett776! I wish we could attatch thumb nails in our posts to share things like that as a visual. AND as for YOU DUNCAN….where is THAT painting with SMOKE VID???????❤
@@tovah2276 yeah being able to post pics would be a nice feature on YT ... I have a classic truck (similar to my old van) that I would like to show to Duncan for ideas as to how to fix scratches in a heavy metal flake.
I've seen the wood grain tool at the hardware store but never picked one up. Nice to see it in action. You just recreated 1991 @4:00 - Just needs neon paint! I see a silver panel and I want to paint it black! - i should try that marbling on a model car roof. @11:21 - You can use a hammer and small nail to punch a little hole in the lip of the paint can to let the paint drain back into the can. When you put the lid back on, it will seal the hole. - they also make a rubber spout that you can put in the paint can lid. Those should be in the hardware store in the paint section. Laquer thinner will dissolve the hardened paint from your brushes. I've used that a few times. Just wear a respirator. @21:00 - I don't think God ever intended for a paint brush to work that way! Hey...you should have used the WD-40 cap on your motor cycle helmet. @25:54 - I hope that's "Sandal Power" activating and not foot odor. LOL!
You are so funny!! Thanks for the laughs and the heads up on what works and what does not. I have used Olive oil to get dried paint off a brush. It needs to soak for at least an hour or 4.
Years ago I used the holoween cobweb lace to paint a guitar like guy hear used regular lace. Came out great! I really liked the carbon fiber technique.

I laughed my head off when you " slipped". Very entertaining video. 👍
LOL, Glad you enjoyed it
Socks & sandals power activated 🤣
You're amazing!
Yes! Thank you!
Murphy's oil soap for cleaning brushes. Works wonders.
Enjoyed that very much 😂
I am constantly forgetting to wash my brushes, and soaking in alcohol does a pretty good job on acrylic paint.
its so much fun to wach your video thanks foor making this
39 seconds of laughter and tears. So much good fun. 22:19
You are hilarious and talented too! Loved this video!
Thank you!
How about an instruction vid. on transferring colour images from magazines / calenders on to car / motorcycle panels ???
You are entertaining and funny. Good job ❤
So I watched this in fast forward 2x speed! You are hilarious! When you touched the hot glue, totally relate lol and the red paint on the paint brush, coming out the handle part - thank you! I will try the wd40 hack, I'm sure 😊
You had me rolling the whole time you are truly one funny man
Fun lessons Taylor!
Thanks, this was the most footage I have ever had to edit!
PDX here 💕 Ya never fail to make us "more smarter"👍lol..n make my coffee taste better toooo💯
Love that!
This really made me giggle! thank you :)
Cool! I have a video on my channel where I painted with smoke before 👍
VERY cool idea @Orionbennett776!
Dude you are so entertaining like watching Bob Ross paint mountain scenes when I was growing up
WD-40 is great for cleaning metal and removing label glues. You have to let it set on the label for awhile before it will loosen the glue.
The rainbow would have worked better with acrylic craft paint... you actually used airbrush paint 😂 still pretty though 😉
OMG, I couldn't stop laughing! Thank you.....I needed that after a day like today! 🤣🤣🤣
LOL!
LOL!
I got a special place in my heart for silver spray paint.
And it starts with a paper bag.
Hey ty for the wd40 cap on spray paint, I have other types of straw caps for spraying, but I want to try that out
that would be cool!
Mind blown over #10…trying that tomorrow
🤯🤯🤯
What you can do testing like you did on the piece of artwork, make a colored copy with it and then put that on it to see if you like it first. But using the insert to spray with is FANTASTIC!!!! Thanks for sharing it!
That's a good idea!
@@DuncanCustomAirbrush Thanks.... Doing that has saved several of my pieces of art..lol
