As a Dale Earnhardt and Chevy guy in the 80's and 90's we dreaded those Robert Yates built Ford motors at all those big tracks where speed was everything back in the day. RIP Robert you deserve to be in the HOF.
Not to many people make you feel like you know them without knowing them ...Robert was one of those special people and my prayer for him is he and his maker are at peace and Davey and Robert are back together again..............RIP dear friends!!
Robert Yates was a icon as a engine builder and owner. It was great that he got in the Hall of Fame. Though sadly, he didn't live long enough to get induced in person. Rest in Peace Robert.
He learned from and Holman & Moody...and Junior Johnson...was buddies with Dale Sr...and was a highly intelligent individual all on his own...no wonder this man was one of the best engine builders the sport has ever seen....RIP Mr. Yates, and thank you from this FORD fanatic....
Best engine builder ever, hard to tell how many his motors went to victory lane, this man set the standard to what we call a "racer" . us fans no matter who our driver had the upmost respect for Robert R.I.P
I met Robert at a Steak House near Michigan Speedway( race weekend)and sat and chatted with him for moment and also Bobby Allison and a moment I will never forget and that paper with their signatures is framed
RIP Mr. Yates. I was a DJ fan from when I was knee high to a grasshopper til he retired. I miss seeing DJ on the track, or even a RYR car on track. So many good drivers drove for him: Davey, DJ, Ernie, Rudd, Sadler, etc.
Credit to the sport, & humanity as a whole. He is dearly missed. Well deserved accolades. Thanks to DJ & Nascar. Congratulations, condolences, thoughts & prayers to his family & many friends...
That was awesome. I love the way he talks about God and the family Lord has allowed him to build throughout his living. Robert is a great man. May he rest in peace.
From the first time I heard this version of the Robert Yates HOF Acceptance Speech as done by Dale Jarrett, I can't imagine anyone doing it as well!! i have listen to it several times. The professionalism, the respect and friendship is very evident!
I was a diehard fan of Dale Earnhardt & hated the Fords with a passion. All but one, Robert Yates Racing with Davey Allison. I dunno they always to me just seemed like the tough little engine that could, if Dale Sr didn't look like he was gonna win I always rooted for Robert & Davey. The late 80's & early 90's, those were my glory days of NASCAR, RIP to both men...
Yep, those were the glory years. I religiously followed it back in those days. Today I haven't watched a race for more than 10 minutes in over a decade, and I don't think I could name 10 drivers.
I was an Earnhardt man and because of that everyone made me be also for Chevrolet. But I was a race fan at heart and no honest race fan could ignore the horsepower Robert Yates put in his cars. I always liked and silently hoped well for his driver choices. ( when Dale was out or having a bad day) Who didn't love Davey and doesn't miss him every race. Robert and his family were as Nascar as the Wood Bros. I cannot give a better compliment than that. Thank you, miss you Robert , rest in peace HOF man.
Legend. The entire Yates organization was nothing but class and that extended to their drivers. Those are great stories about Davey assuring him that he'd always be with him, and he and DJ going the better part of a year without contract....handshake only.
Wow. There is nothing like Yates horse power. A great man. Been a pleasure to be a fan of the sport I love so much and to see greatness race after race. RIP Robert Yates. We thank you for your greatness.
Even though I've always been a Chevy guy, the way these guys ran their operation is sorely missed- RIP, Mr Yates and please let the Allison Bros know this Earnhardt fan misses them dearly- oh and take it easy on Earnhardt up there on the Racetracks the Good Lord built for ya'll
I still to this day wonder how many championships he would have if davey had not passed. I been watching racing since 91 and always cheered for the 28 and 88. His motors never lacked the one thing needed to win an that is horsepower. RIP.
Bruce Hansen those are the what ifs, Dale Sr wouldn't be 7 time champ, Jeff G wouldn't have won at least two of his championships. Unfortunately we'll never truly know what could have been, but he helped RYR become championship contenders for years afterwards.
The "old guard" of all forms of motorsports are either dying off or retiring. It hurts to think where we're headed but maybe that's because I'll turn 50 this year and I'm starting to realize that my days are numbered too. Here's hoping that Robert is building engines for Davey again. Can you imagine what a race in heaven would be like...The Earnhardts (both Ralph AND Dale Sr.) Allison in the 28, Fireball Roberts, Dan Weldon (I know he was an open wheel guy but a racer is a racer), Smokey Yunick building the cars and all the others together in perfect cars on a perfect day running on a perfect track? That almost makes me want to get there sooner...gotta get my infield spot lol! I'm a drag racer but love all forms of motorsports! Race In Peace Robert!
He says I don’t know where the time has gone! That’s one thing we can’t stop....Time.... And boy it’s tough to deal with when you lose the people you love ...Because of Time ....It holds memories...It holds consequence.... Time....It never ends! Rip Robert Yates ! Sure do miss RYR and the Old NASCAR Here in 2021 it seems like the sport is gone!!
What a guy. Davey would’ve loved this video…I know tensions between Ernie Irvan and Robert Yates were strained sometimes due to sponsorship reasons on Ernie’s part…but I still find it strange Ernie was never mentioned. He gave the team several wins and would’ve been quite a threat heading into the rest of the 90s had it not been for his crash at Michigan in 1994.
Pancreatic Cancer is the worst form. Seldom does anyone survive it. Robert fought hard and lasted for over a year. I had one in my Family die from it and it was terrible until the end.
That was awesome to have Dale Jarrett read it. Really fitting.
That 88 Quality Care car was tough competition from 1996-2000. Then the UPS car in 2001 and 2002.
DJ is my favorite driver ever
Oh yeah, Dale Jarrett helped make RYR into the powerhouse team that it was in the mid-late 90s!
A tough few months for us Blue Oval faithful, losing Yates, Bud Moore, Dan Gurney, and Bob Glidden. RIP Forever Legends.
As a Dale Earnhardt and Chevy guy in the 80's and 90's we dreaded those Robert Yates built Ford motors at all those big tracks where speed was everything back in the day. RIP Robert you deserve to be in the HOF.
Now we lost David Pearson J.D. Gibbs and Glen Wood.
God bless all you Legends 🙏⚰🙏⚰🙏⚰🙏10/30/21
Rest In Peace Robert Yates, Glad to know that he could know he was a Hall of Fame member before his passing. Forever a legend of our sport.
Not to many people make you feel like you know them without knowing them ...Robert was one of those special people and my prayer for him is he and his maker are at peace and Davey and Robert are back together again..............RIP dear friends!!

Such a beautiful and emotional speech. Rest in peace

This man will never be forgotten. He’s gunna go down in NASCAR history forever. RIP bud.
"Robert I'll always work for you"
Rip Davey
Rip Robert
Rip Dale
Truly humble and moving.
The best engine builder ever...period
NO ONE can argue that!
Just a awesome story by great guys. It's just neat how Jack and Robert joined forces to develop Roush Yates Ford engines.
I met Robert at a Steak House near Michigan Speedway( race weekend)and sat and chatted with him for moment and also Bobby Allison and a moment I will never forget and that paper with their signatures is framed

MEAN GENE and thanks Ford Motor Company
That was awesome. I love the way he talks about God and the family Lord has allowed him to build throughout his living. Robert is a great man. May he rest in peace.
Goose bumps all the was through... R.I.P. Robert

Vine Wood fuck you
Yep, those were the glory years. I religiously followed it back in those days. Today I haven't watched a race for more than 10 minutes in over a decade, and I don't think I could name 10 drivers.
This makes me cry seeing RY so sick. RIP Robert, you have inspired me. He was dying when he wrote this. I love it. I'm bawling for real.
I was an Earnhardt man and because of that everyone made me be also for Chevrolet. But I was a race fan at heart and no honest race fan could ignore the horsepower Robert Yates put in his cars. Thank you, miss you Robert , rest in peace HOF man.
A beautiful tribute to the Yates family. Dale Jarrett one of the best, a true gentleman.
Wow did anyone besides me tear up watching this.
Joshua Sudduth me....but don’t tell anybody...
Legend. The entire Yates organization was nothing but class and that extended to their drivers. Those are great stories about Davey assuring him that he'd always be with him, and he and DJ going the better part of a year without contract....handshake only.
What a great racing legend and better yet , an incredible human being. You were the best Robert Yates
Robert Yates is a man I always respected and admired,
even though we never met.
All right, who’s cutting onions in here. What a great story.
Mario, Alot of onions being cut in here
Jeez. I thought I might of been the only one. 🥺
Yates, Jarrett and Parrott were a helluva combination
What an amazing man. As a Ford guy, he was a hero of mine but also an incredible man and family. #28texacohavolineford #88qualitycareford
Wow. There is nothing like Yates horse power. A great man. Been a pleasure to be a fan of the sport I love so much and to see greatness race after race. RIP Robert Yates. We thank you for your greatness.
Major respect.

God bless Robert Yates and his family.
"My creator didn't always give me what I asked for, but gave me more than i deserved." Such a touching statement.
RIP Robert Yates
Powerful and sincere
Wow. What a great man and no one ever built better engines. Wow. So emotinal.
Had the Honor to Represent/ Work for Robert. Showcar. One of a Kind.
I loved Robert Yates Racing with Davey Allison & Dale Jarrett
Tears of joy thanks Dale 88 rip Robert
Rest in Peace, Robert. You made us Ford fans proud to own Fords and root for them on race day. You'll always be a part of the Ford family!
Legends like Robert Yates aren’t talked about enough. Probably because the peak of his career was during the time of Earnhardt and Gordon.
Legend
I’d give anything for Davey to be reading this
One of the best seasons of any race team ever
I still to this day wonder how many championships he would have if davey had not passed. I been watching racing since 91 and always cheered for the 28 and 88. His motors never lacked the one thing needed to win an that is horsepower. RIP.

@@chubbz5150ify indeed, Dale Sr. himself even said if Davey had lived he would not be a 7-time champion.

Such an amazing speech! Such an amazing life!
No one did it better, Rest In Peace, Robert Yates.
Class act! Need more like him.
Race in Peace Mr. Yates.
What took NASCAR so long to put him in the hall of fame.
Outstanding.
RIP Robert.
He says I don’t know where the time has gone! That’s one thing we can’t stop....Time.... RIP Robert Yates.
That was wonderful .
Thanks Robert. Tell Davey I said thanks as well.

Robert.. was the man!
I never really knew how frail Robert had gotten before he met his maker and Davey are together again
Pancreatic Cancer is the worst form. Seldom does anyone survive it. Robert fought hard and lasted for over a year. I had one in my Family die from it and it was terrible until the end.
Yates = HorsePower
If your watching this for the first time put on pause and grab some Kleenex and enjoy thank you Dale
Wish that 28 car would of won a championship with davey or Ernie
RIP
28RYR88
He was a wonderful Christian man and those who knew him all the better for it
I was a big Jarrett fan .Back when nascar was a great sport until they destroyed it.Great memories..

Why you tryina make me cry here?
I'll be honest at 4:23 I thought that was Jake Delhomme (shows how much I pay attention)

How the heck do they leave out Ernie Irvine very disrespectful
Now we have lost Junior Johnson

This was very depressing.
