So proud of them! As an Army veteran and Air Force officer, I believe it’s important for people to recognize the recruiting crisis we face in this country. Anyone willing to step up and serve deserves our unwavering support and respect. As leaders, it’s our responsibility to adapt. We don’t get to pick and choose who we work with-it’s our job to train them to be the best they can be, help them accomplish the mission, and guide and mentor them to achieve their life goals. Be kind to them! I was once a “dumb private” myself, but now I’m a medical officer and proudly serving.
We had a 17 year old kid in my flight whose mom was dying of cancer. Every Sunday, after church, our MTI would allow him to go down to CQ to meet with the Chaplain and call his mom. She passed away the morning of our graduation. We all cried when we got the news. This kid was joining the USAF in order to take care of his 5 brothers and sisters. I named my son after that kid. That kid had more heart than anyone I've ever met. I think about him often.
Proud of these young men and women!!! Remember these days at BMT. You will look back on your beginning and smile, probably grin from ear to ear! SQUADRON 3706/FLIGHT091 commenced training 13 Dec. 91. Wish I could go back and do it all over again. I see things have changed a bit, I believe, for the better. it is a different world now! Hold your head high, be PROUD, and watch each others back. Try to stay in touch with each other. It will be good to talk of the days of old, lol. Love your family, keep them close, they will miss you as much as you miss them. Be strong for each other!
Thank you for this in-depth video. I grew up Army and my fiance is joining the AF. I never knew what all went into BMT. I will hate the first phone call, but so appreciative of what you men and women go through and sacrifice. Love, respect, and many blessings to you all! 🧡
Volunteer to be element leader or dorm chief if you wanna be miserable. The best detail is bed align crew. You can take the dessert, you’re not gonna get in trouble for that. Shut the fuck up and listen, never say shit and much less reach out to MTIs if you’re feeling “down” or “depressed” otherwise you’ll be FUCKED, just chug along and be resilient. Do NOT start beef with your flight members, avoid confrontation by all means necessary. I assure you that there’ll be at least one individual there that will drive you all CRAZY, but do NOT isolate that person, try to help and be patient, but if that person keeps messing up then let them fail miserably. If you get sick, for the love of god DO NOT go to medical, avoid it at all costs, if you get isolated you will be recycled and your graduation date will be pushed back. Do not buy anything at BMT, that includes the nonsensical and overpriced “morale” merch that each squadron will try to sell you. Good luck.
Looking at this 5 months after graduating BMT just make realize how I came! BTW I did chow runner at BMT for the entire duration of my training. No other trainee besides the 2 other guys who did it with me stepped in.
alot has changed since I went to Lackland back in the early 2000's had the double racks not individual ones no security box and had a single locker no rifle

you go to classes during bmt. you will eventually take an end of course exam (EOC) in 6th week that covers all the material from those classes. take good notes in class, study them and your cerego app on your issued ipad. its easy though, dont stress the EOC. worry about your memory work though. you will be routinely quizzed on that and you must know it or else you get in trouble. its not the end of the world but it does suck getting in trouble. memory work is basic stuff like knowing ranks, pay grades and insignia of the enlisted and officer forces, knowing your chain of command, knowing wingman policy and benefits, air force song and creed and other random things. if you want start memorizing that and you will have a good head start
1989...DI's cussing and being smoked push ups all the time, P.T. every morning before chow...I was called SHIT HEAD many times. It’s insane how much we sacrifice for this country. I hope the Airman’s mom beat cancer and is doing very well. 🙏🏽

@ihrtbaeyah you shouldn't be in the military if you can't handle a needle
Prior army and watching them get issued gear looks just as long and tedious as it is in the army not looking forward to it when I start
Waiting for my ship out date.
That was sad when they dismissed Trainee Garcia for a mental health condition. Does that mean he’s just out now?
Leaving 12/17 !!
