Death knights are my favorite monster in the game. I feel like there aren't enough monsters that are more powerful warriors instead of just being raging abominations or wizards with a gimmick, and the death knight definitely scratches that itch.

You need a lot of gimmicks to make melee combat work in a D&D-like setting.

The only thing that doesn’t make sense to me about death knights is why a good god would transform their paladins into powerful evil monsters. Love these video😊

It reminds me of the Dawi from Warhammer who have such an insanely rigid code of honour that, when they die while still "dishonoured" in one way or another, they are then condemned to an afterlife of emptiness and regret, reviewing their "sins" so long as it takes their descendants to right them, sometimes for ever.
And, off course that "sin" and fate is transmitted to their descendants. Unless when death is the remedy itself that is.

I always thought of it less the good god doing it, and more the evil power who they came to serve through their betrayal of the paladin's oath

In most cases it is an evil power scooping up a fallen knight, but it is weird that some good gods do it too. Paladine of Dragonlance was responsible for Lord Soth, or more accurately sponsoring Soth's wife's curse. With how much harm Soth did, I wonder if he regrets that.

I think it's more of a punishment or a test to see if they're worthy of redemption. In this instance, the God Tempus is a neutral God. I think. Not good, not evil.

I had a pc in curse of strahd turn into a Death Knight (that campaign was very off the rails). She is now a Darklord of her own domain and patron of Warlock in my current campaign.

Im making a world where 2 Death Knight Warlords are at war. 1 wants revenge on the god that cursed them, so he wants to exterminate all their followers in a religious genocide. The other wants to be redeemed and is doing everything in his power to stop the other one. Everyone else gets caught inbetwen

I love Death Knights because they are like liches but martial focused despite wielding powerful magic. They also have their own individual back stories on what cursed them so their personalities can be uniquely tailored to the campaign.

Hey man just a few tips.
    1) You should change your channel name to something else *ANYTHING* *ELSE* The name is too long to remember and because it's named after a famous person it won't pick up in the algorithm. I just searched you and I can not find you by your name. If you change your channel name you would have 3 times as many subscribers
    2) You're through the eyes of videos are by far your best content. You should focus on them more. No one else on UA-cam are doing stories like this and it's *REALLY* interesting hearing what goes through the minds of monsters. You could even expand it to do things like bandits, worshippers of dark gods and so much more. I am really interested in hearing what goes through the mind of someone who chooses to become a Litch or what made a fallen angel. I'm going to be honest and tell you that I don't really think your early content is that interesting But this *NEW* content is. You are definitely getting better.
I really think you could hit over 100,000 subscribers fairly quickly and easily if you narrow down on the through the eyes of a monster series (at least for now). It's definitely what I subscribed to hear more of and by far your most unique content.

Currently writing a game heavily inspired by the Myth games/ the Black Company series and the big bad has two main lieutenants in the forms of a immensely powerful necromancer lich who controls legions of undead and a death knight commander clad in adamantine armor who has his own order of death knights/ undead knights and rides a dragon. Still writing out a lot of the world but I’ve got several of the major factions so I’m happy with it

    Making a playable deathknight:
Race: reborn (you can look like any race you want)
Class(es): paladin (oath breaker) warlock (mechanically best is hexblade and not just for the Cha mechanic) 👈🏻 good whole game round.
Alternatively: fighter (eldritch knight) wizard (necromancer) 👈🏻 high level one-shot build.
Add in a cleric (death domain)+sorcerer (divine soul), a rogue (assassin)+bard (college of whispers), and barbarian (path of the beast)+fighter (echoe knight) and you're done.
This is an optimized, semi- to full evil, RP heavy group. They can be seeking redemption or anti-heroes, a mix🤷‍♂️

I realized as a child that no matter my success or failure evil is a choice that was made not a natural state. That simple truth alone aided, aided in my honing of what remained of my mind & body profoundly. My 'mother' being a child & my 'father' being an adult I knew I was the result of an unnatural pregnancy. The birthing was as well. Law or no law.
I realized I was contending with negative energy by default. Known as GOING TO GO PLAY. 🥷🏻
    Hail Satan.
    Hail Christ.

Safe travels.....with all of my hope. 🕚

Nicely narrated and engagingl and flowing (my ai images not so much!) imagery, but the story's character development is flawed in a couple few main ways. (True writers have no room for ego, only improvement, I believe in case you wrote this and perceive my message as trolling rather than teaching). 1. Contradictions in the main character's internal conflict, one example being when the paladin says he lost his greatest personal treature when he held his sword, lost his memories of the past, and yet he somehow vividly recalls the feelings associated with his oath, his memories of the past? 2. Need to make the character come to life with more specific details concerning his thoughts, emotions, and actions over broad and fanciful descriptive terms, whiic his Chat GPT's greatest flaw, an oeverall non-ability to develop fictional characters well.

I could never square the idea of good gods creating evil death knights. Punishing a failed servant of good by giving them tremendous power and every reason to hate the world then turning them loose, that's just nuts. If I use a death knight they'll either be forced by their curse to do some kind of good / honorable duty as penance. Or I want them evil, they'll be created by an evil god / archfiend from an already evil follower.
