Seriously the 2e Guides were absolutely amazing! So many cool ideas that really made you realize how terrifying a lich (or a golem or mummy etc) could really be..
@@samizdatbroadcasts7654 those are all quite good. I think the golem one was really useful in its own way. Gave lots ideas for how to take standard DND monsters and give them a true Gothic twist. You got something similar with the lycanthropy guide plus a lot cool were-species beyond the typical ones (werewolves etc). I mean a were-crocodile is just inherently cool AF!
I started off that way, now I DM sometimes and even did a 2 hour video on the topic. Thinking of making my own lore videos now. I'll tell ya, finding all the pics for videos like this is the most annoying part. I have folders and folders. Sometimes you find yourself googling things like "pregnant blue dragon" and get hit in the face with stuff you didn't even want to know about lol. It made sense at the time, Bhaal impregnated a blue dragon at some point while creating Bhaalspawn and I was talking about that..... My two hour video could have been titled "That time when Bhaal banged his way across the land trying to set up his own "Highlander" scenario and it became the Baldur's Gate series."
Hi, I just discovered you with this video. I like the style you have, you have a nice voice to listen to. Anyway, back to my question. Do you think it is possible for a lich to be good? Something like a path of redemption, or that although he did bad things, he did them to save someone...
I feel like this leaves out the new lore on liches and the steps to become one as printed in the 5e book Minsc and Boo's Journal of Villainy. In that book there is no mention of Orcus or praying to him and the ritual even mentions you can choose to consume the souls of fiends instead of humans, allowing a wizard to actually be Good instead of Evil by consuming demons and devils.
@@The_NaturalOnes Those are fair points although I will say it was put out by WotC. Considering the 100 year time-skip, maybe Irenicus figured out how to swallow fiends instead of humans. I love your videos, was just wondering why it was left out and that’s a pretty good reason. Thanks!
This was really well done!
I love the classic Van Richten books a lot of good ideas that can work in any edition or setting.
Like the psionic lich.
Thanks so much!
Love the quoting 2nd Ed Van Richtens Guide

Enjoyable listen, great video! I don't play dnd, but I really enjoy the lore haha.

@@edwardzignot2681 awesome! More lore videos are always welcome and lol at pregnant blue dragon haha
Small correction. Baelnorn Liches are of good alignment most of the time.
Good call, thanks for the correction

Thanks again my friend!
Okay gotta ask. WHERE did you get that AWESOME Map of The Sword Coast shown at T.S. 1:00 ? I love it! 🥰
Love the bean vid too you should do an abyss and a nine Hell series
The party I’m DMing is about to turn a god into a mortal and I’m trying to figure out what the god would do to regain immortality

The lore is very different across editions, also that book is not widely regarded as “canon”

I’ve read a lot of that book but don’t typically include it in my research… maybe I should though, I appreciate the feedback!
