In a sense though, i imagine it is the harrowing possibly when meeting one, to be, ruthlessly dragged into a long, unending conversation against your will, with a creature who despite being friendly and excited to talk to you, really doesn't care whether you want to be there

Was in my first storyline as a kid. Played an Elf, and I think I was a Ranger, because i wanted a wolf animal companion. Anyway, we get captured by Drow pretty early on. My wolf ended up sacrificing herself as we escaped during a raid by Duregar. Now, I am horribly aracniphobic, and had zero idea at the time Driders were a thing. Imagine my surprise when i failed an athletics check and fell down a shaft, only to be met by three giant spider ladies who likewise had pet giant spiders and were quickly advancing. I think it was at that moment that the game went from silly hack and slash fun for me and turned into straight up nightmare fuel. Because the Paladin saw me fall my party ended up saving me, but it was a big wakeup call to me and my character that there was some real dark stuff if you know where to look. But that started my obsession with tabletop games in general.
