Priya, I must tell you that watching your journey made me quite emotional at times. The reason being many many years ago I as a black man fell in love with an Indian woman. We were never physical and our parents knew each other but we both knew at the time, society would not accept us being together. We had great respect for each other and I would never do anything that could have put her at risk. She followed the wishes of her family and got married and had 3 children. Unfortunately the man chosen for her did not treat her well & they split up some years later. While I fully understand and support you respecting your culture and making it clear that Marwa is just a friend I’m not sure you realise how big it is just seeing you two just together. I do wish Marwa took the time to understand what you were saying and respect your culture more and how it could affect your life but I am pleased he got to meet your family as even this was impossible 40 years ago. It's an insecurity issue. When you see someone wearing shades or glasses in the public it means that someone has an anxiety. I often wear shades in public area cos of some of insecurity but I tend to fight and combat to love myself. The more I love myself and appreciate being in this world the better it creates me chance to meet people easily. I think also wearing shades makes someone confident but not often. I think Marwa has dealt with his insecurity and still dealing. It will eventually take time.
