    Misleading thumbnail. First Class doesn’t always equate to luxury. There are trains like Maharajas’ Express, and then there are trains like Rajdhani. The former is a luxury train while the latter is just a speedy (for Indian Standards) train that does offer first class cabins. You might want to check out the former before declaring a random train as ‘India’s most luxury train.’

    Just for information, Indian railways fastest train can run with 200 km/h speed but due to tracks and density of trains, they are limited till 130 km/h.
    Fact is that government is improving it...

    • @gauravsharma8052
      @gauravsharma8052 8 місяців тому +7

    • @death_parade
      @death_parade 8 місяців тому

      @@gauravsharma8052 Well, its not just the tracks, but also the signalling. Thankfully, all the route interlocking systems that relied on electromechanical relays are now being replaced entirely with solid state electronic relays across the entire Indian Railways network. And Kavach TCAS (Train Collision Avoidance System) is being rolled out on trunk routes (2000 km this year and 34,000 km by 2027 are the targets for Kavach 1.0). Meanwhile, Kavach 2.0 is also being worked on. Mind you, even in Europe in countries like Germany also, ETCS Level 1 is not there on all tracks. All this combined with track upgrades AND track de-congestion efforts (freight-passenger train track separation via Dedicated Freight Corridor and doubling, tripling and quadrupling of existing tracks) will ensure that average speeds increase and that trains stick to the schedule with minimal slippage.

    • @death_parade
      @death_parade 7 місяців тому +5

      @@hemantv1676 Because our entire 125,000 km of railway track is broad gauge, as is our entire rolling stock of hundreds of thousands of wagons and tens of thousands of locomotives. And to replace all this will take two decades of work and cost an ocean of money, time and resources while also causing a massive amount of train delays continuously for the next 20 years. Why 20 years? Because we barely lay 4500-7000 km of new track each year and barely make a few thousand coaches and few hundred locomotives per year. And my assumption of 20 years takes into account an increase in this rate of track laying and rolling stock manufacturing.
      And all this done for what benefit? None. Nothing that the standard gauge can do that the broad gauge can't. Not me that is saying this, it is Mr Alok Verma, who is one of the premier Railway Engineers in this country.

    @9:12 you see the electrical system is 110 V in a country where 220 is the standard domestic line voltage. It's a clever anti-theft deterrent. Light bulbs and other appliances can't be used outside the trains, and not worth it to buy a 220-110 converter.

    • @prasannask8320
      @prasannask8320 3 місяці тому +2

      That is an urban myth that 110v was used to deter theft.
      The real reason why 110v electric devices are used is coz every train coach back then was self generating. It had a generator which generated power ( connected to wheels for mechanical to electric energy conversion) and two banks of ten 12volt batteries for storage. Those ten batteries of 12 volt means total of 10 * 12 = 120volts
      That is why all equipment was 110/120v
      .
      Now it is all regular 220v basic supply from either from HOG or EOG cars which gets converted as and where needed like fans need diff voltage, LED lights need diff level , AC equipment needs a higher current supply and so on

And another one from Guwahati(Assam state) to Khongsang(Manipur state) via Silchar(Assam). Probably one of the most scenic train routes in India. Worth going.

    WAP7 max speed rating is 205KMPH but IR has restricted the operational speed to 140 to 160 only however with 160 KMPH operational speed, Gatimaan Express hauled by WAP5. So there's a difference in top speed vs operational speed. Look like you took this journey last year of around Jan-Feb.
    ICF coaches were hazardous when derailed by overlapping on each other in compare to LHB which goes side ways. Also they are hindrance in the speed increase somehow. Also way too old and shaky as well. Bu one thing is you did your home work well before posting the video. Thanks.

    One thing to note, for context re. why you don't get seat assignments in advance: the seating arrangement for AC First Class is decided manually by humans. As was mentioned in another comment, staff take into account the age and gender of the travelers and their companions to decide the best seating arrangement. On the lower classes, seats are automatically allocated by a computer at the time of booking.

      Computer would have allocated berths by 1st come, 1st serve if before your booking all the passengers had filled Lower berth preference. (Because 1AC seats are very limited).
      You should be glad that they did it manually that's why you got your second seat in same coupe.

      Yep, definitely stupid. I identify as nonbinary and I feel more comfortable not having an all-male or all-female cabin. The humans that assign seats in first class are still bound by outdated notions of the gender binary and heteronormativity, while the computer that decides seat assignments for the lower classes doesn't take any personal data into account unless one explicitly books a special quota.

    • @SumitBisht0

There are two more trains that are almost equal (slightly better) on the New Delhi to Mumbai route (Train no: 22222/12952). 95% of long-distance trains in India are 22-24 coaches long (LHB - 600-700 meters). Indian Railways provides mobility for a huge number of passengers at the cost of speed and that's what we need right now.
    Our government is slowly upgrading our existing infrastructure (which is humongous) and also working on bringing new technologies (HST, Metro rails, Vande Bharat trains (Distributed power - multiple units)).

    On every 1st AC of IR you are free to indicate a preference for a 2 bunk vs a 4 bunk, at the time of reservation. I believe the railway lingo is cabins and coupes. And you are reasonably assured to get what you asked for, even though they let you know 4 hours prior. Yes it doesnt help that you only come to know exactly what, 4 hours prior. But there is a very good reason for that. Would be glad explain more if you are curious.
    Reasonably because the worst case is the two of you might end up in different rooms. Especially if the train has very limited 1st AC and there is rush. But chances are really low on any Rajdhani.
    I took this trip last in the thick of the 3rd wave. They were not serving food and linen at the time. But my opinion is there are better Rajdhani 1st AC food experiences in India, and on some of the Duronto as well. This train however is reputed for its running time and efficiency. I quite liked it.
    Congrats on the trip.

    the Indian railways reservation system is the most human friendly system - it allots based on the Age and gender of the passengers...so you only get confirmed tickets in First AC - if you are travelling alone - you get either a cabin Upper seat or if you are travelling as a couple (Old Age) you get a cabin - both lower berths...this way old people do not have to suffer the ardous task of climing the upper berths...and so please understand the process before passing any negative comments...

      First Class in Tejas Rajdhani on Mumbai-New Delhi route is the best. So far they cook meals for FC passengers in the attached pantry car & hence you get fresh, hot rotis for dinner. The food attendants even try to get you to eat more (my experience)! Have travelled with 3 guys (they were a group) few years back from Delhi to Mumbai when it was only Rajdhani. They got the pantry to cook chilli chicken to go with the spiritual experience in the private compartment :). The ticket examiner knows it all but look the other way.

    A nice video coverage yes these trains are worth the ticket where you also get hot quality food cooked and served on board , truly in pas 10 years Indian railways are thriving ahead in terms of service and quality, of course money costs but it is still quite reasonable compared to many countries
