Another well remembered episode involving Ethel's Australian cousin. After Sandi left the show, Neil and Harry promoted the next series on the Wide Awake Club and mentioned that Ethel had gone to visit her cousin down under. And according to the No 73 1987 Annual, she swam all the way...
The Alarm perform their latest single "Absolute Reality", which was at its chart peak of No.35 at the time of this episode. They close the show with the closing track from their debut album _Declaration,_ "Howling Wind".
Thanks so much for these, just noted the date on the clock at the start said 1983, but this is clearly a 1985 episode.
Just reusing old title sequences with the episode title keyed in live onto the open letterbox.
TVS were a relatively new company when No73 was launched and they did not have the technological capacity to create the sliding images on the titles so it was contracted out to an independent specialist. The VT clock is theirs and was still being used two years later when the titles were being inserted into the show.
Ahhhh super gran! Remember they used to have the bike hanging up in tynemouth where it was filmed
It was filmed in Chisleton .btw she still alive she's 97
@@boofuls filmed in Tynemouth
And north shields ,cullercoats Whitley bay etc..was meant to be a joke
@@boofuls it’s been that long since I’ve seen it I missed the joke……..now I’ve Tyne tees credit music and super gran theme song going around my head 🤦♂️ the watch house was another good one from Tynemouth
@@Jhonjhonray 😂 Billy Connolly done the theme tune
Ah... ME14 5LL can't forget that postcode! Any Motormouth coming?
Neil Buchanan's accent!!! I'd forgotten he had a string scouse voice in this.
The resident vet David Taylor was also a northerner.
There’s a rumour recently that he’s Banksie 😂
@@TayWoode And he joined Twitter in 2020 just to deny that he is Banksy.
@@antster1983 haha I never knew that although that’s something the real Banksie would say to keep anonymous 😂
YAY! I was like Number 73.
*This was the most astounding and revolutionary programme to ever be broadcast*
Nah that award goes to TISWAS
@@Synthematix
neck and neck
@Synthematix exactly this was the sort of program for middle class kids who were not allowed to watch TISWAS
@@SynthematixTiswas looks dreadful these days. In reality ITV bosses hated Tiswas and were constantly trying to replace it and in this show they found the replacement. This was I think the first fully networked Saturday morning show on ITV.
Jeannie, Hazel, played a friend of Mike Baldwin’s in Corrie in 1986!
Billy Connolly!! 😂
Whatever happened to Sandi Toksvig?
I hear she's doing nothing but pub quizzes and hosting baking competitions now. Sad really.
And qi
@@ken.f.c.1977 Like I said, pub quizzes.
🤣🤣🤣@@ErisRising
@@ken.f.c.1977You do realise it was a joke?
Spot the Lion??? Rigged AF.
